Description

Green tea from Japan that is an unusual combination of green leaves and thin white twigs. Twigs you say? Yes, and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the results. A sweet infusion with herbal overtones and welcome hints of chestnuts. When feeling adventuresome, please give our 'Kukicha Baton' tea a try. And revel in its unique, playful taste.

Story

Land is a scarce resource in Japan, making all agriculture a pricey endeavor. So it became essential for the Japanese farmer to extract as much value from each tea bush as possible. Necessity being the mother of invention, the Japanese have been ingenious at devising tea varieties that are unheard of in countries more land-endowed. One such product is Kukicha. Twigs are an unusual tea ingredient. However, combined with green leaves they form a serendipitous mixture, with a unique taste and aroma. Well worth a try.

"I admit, I wasn't sure about this tea, but I'm so glad I tried it. It's pretty grassy but I can definitely tell the nutty tones were there as well. An excellent green!"

"I love kukicha and have been waiting probably a year to get some from Adagio. Love it! The twigs give it a sweet flavor. Be careful not to oversteep or use too-hot water."

"I could drink this everyday for the rest of my life. Best $7 I have spent in a long time. Came in a tin which is a lot nicer than the pouch I was expecting."

"I enjoy this tea very much, and I'm not much of a green tea drinker. I tried this tea as a signature blend called International Green by Wes C and it was Fantastic. This tea is great when your not feeling good and you have a cold, this tea is perfect...it is like having your serving of green veggies. "

"This is a grassy green tea, though I don't think it's as strong as Gyokuro or Sencha. It's a bit more forgiving than those two about brew time and water temperature, but you still have to be careful not to let it steep too long or it will get bitter. The twigs add a sweet & nutty flavor. If you like grassy green tea, this one is a good low cost option. "
