Earl Grey Green

Description

Green tea from China with the robust flavors of bergamot. Makes a light and refreshing drink that's popular both hot and iced. If you are new to green tea, this flavored tea may be a good place to start.

Story

It is said that in 1830, an Englishman named Charles Earl Grey traveled on a diplomatic mission to China, where in return for his act of kindness, a local mandarin presented him with the recipe for making this distinctive tea. A few corrections are in order. Firstly, the Chinese have never been black tea drinkers, and were unlikely to have a recipe for Earl Grey to bestow on visitors. Secondly, Charles Earl Grey never set foot in China. Otherwise, the story is completely true.

"Too sweet for my taste, and strong. I'm not a fan of greens, but I've had Twinings' bagged version of Earl Grey Green and loved it, so I was disappointed by the harshness of this one. Followed sample time recommendations and did 1 tsp per cup. Yick."

"This has been my go to wake-up tea since I tried a sample a few months back. A perfect combination of the fragrant earl grey and the earthy green."

"This tea was just about what I expected. Very good balance of bergamot and tea flavor, like any great earl grey tea should have. It was not quite as much like green tea as I had expected though, a little closer to a traditional black earl grey, but very pleasing otherwise!"

"I much prefer earl grey in a black tea than green. However, I've never considered earl grey as a "top" choice for me."

"I like bergamot although I basically prefer the unadorned taste of a good green tea. Still, it makes a nice change and I enjoy it particularly as an afternoon beverage while reading a book."

"The earl grey flavor doesn't lend itself well to a green tea. Stick with the traditional black tea for this one."
