Miss Gladys Georgianna Greene, also known as Jean Arthur.
Jean Arthur was one of Hollywood's most charming stars despite the fact she suffered from extreme stage fright and had a distaste for the limelight.
Jean Arthur's career peak was from 1935-1945. By 1935, she had made more than 70 movies, but stardom still eluded her.
However in 1935, she was cast in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, and the world discovered that she was one of Hollywood's most gifted comediennes. Her most distinctive asset was her husky voice. She retired from acting in 1953 and eventually became a college professor. She died at the age of 90 from heart failure.
