Usually seen with his twin brother, Eros, attending their mother, the goddess Aphrodite, Anteros is the god of emotional love, and the avenger of unrequited feelings. He can be called upon to soothe the pain of those who have had their hearts broken by rejection. He appears as a handsome youth with butterfly wings, carrying either a club or a bow. Anteros is often associated with butterflies, and is also symbolized by arrows. His preferred offering is warm milk mixed with honey and cinnamon, but he will accept almost anything sweet.
