Ellen "Nell" Arthur was the wife of 21st President Chester A. Arthur. Sadly, she died of pneumonia before he took office. As President, Arthur did not give anyone else the role of First Lady, instead rotating between several family members to help with social events. His love for his wife was constant and true.
