Margaret Taylor was the wife of the 12th President, General Zachary Taylor. Known as Peggy, she was the youngest of seven children and not much is known of her early life. She was introduced to Zachary Taylor when she was 16 years old, in Louisville, Kentucky, where she lived at the time. As First Lady, she spent much of her time in illness, and her daughter Betty fulfilled many of the social duties.
