Halfway to Heaven

When I was 12, my brother—18 years my senior—invited me to join him and his friends for a round of golf. I remember feeling so grown-up that day, trying desperately to look like I belonged among these adults despite barely being able to swing the club properly. After what seemed like an eternity under the summer sun (and countless balls lost in water hazards), we made our way to the clubhouse.
