My family lived in Germany for a time and enjoyed numerous German foods with lebkuchen among them. We observed Saint Nicholas day (December 6) while there as well. This tea has been shaped by a lebkuchen recipe I tried in the U.S. many years later. I think it tasted reasonably authentic despite the many recipe modifications I made of coconut sugar, zests instead of candied peels, almond milk, cassava flour for the wheat flour, no oblaten wafers, and honey instead of corn syrup. Recipe link provided below tea details.
I added a pinch of ground nutmeg to the tea bag, a chocolate chip or two, a few leaves of my Vanilla Creamer tea blend, and some leaves of Orange tea. Mind the tea to water ratio though. A little honey sugar or a teeny squeeze of honey will not be amiss for flavor's sake. Personally, I use a couple leaves of another company's honey oolong since I'm not fond of sweeteners in most teas. Enjoy!
