Maybe I’m a new convert, or maybe this is just a great blend… But this is the first rooibos I’ve enjoyed! Sweet, buttery vanilla tames the medicinal flavor of rooibos perfectly.
Rich vanilla and sweet, lightly fruity Rooibos herb. Warm sugar cookies, mellow flavor, smooth finish. Yum!

Maybe I’m a new convert, or maybe this is just a great blend… But this is the first rooibos I’ve enjoyed! Sweet, buttery vanilla tames the medicinal flavor of rooibos perfectly.
Red rooibos is a delicious tisane which works reasonably well as a caffeine-free alternate to tea. It is good with milk and I like to add a spoon of sugar but it is good even without. Rooibos is very small and can slip through filters with large holes - like the VelociTea - but it does not easily over-steep. It blends well with most flavors, including vanilla of course - which complements the natural carmel creaminess of the Rooibos.
I generally like both red and green rooibos. The vanilla in this seemed so mild I could barely taste it and was too easily covered up by the honey meant for rooibos. This may work well as a supporting ingredient for a blend though.
For a red rooibos tea, this actually wasn't the worst! The vanilla is the first flavor you get, but unfortunately that medicinal taste is the next and it's the one that stays with you.
The vanilla in this tea smelled amazing, but the taste was mild and a bit flat. 5 mins @ 212 degrees.
Love roobios teas for a great evening tea. Excellent with a little cream
November 20th, 2022 CommuniTea. I was worried I wouldn’t like it, but it is just a lovely tea. The vanilla scent is subtle to me once brewed, but I generally like rooibos, so it was just a nice addition.
212 degrees for 5 minutes. I don't know. Rooibos tea always seems like Honeybush's not as tasty cousin. It's missing the sweet hay taste and replaces it with a funky metallic taste in my mouth. Maybe it reacts with my fillings, lol. Today's tea was no better. The metallic taste of rooibos couldn't be covered up even with the yummy vanilla, so it's a no go.
Sorry, I'm still team Honeybush!
Delicious, smooth, such an easy drink that it's gone before you expect it. The roiboos gives a lovely grounded base that perfectly accentuates the vanilla. Great level of sweetness and creaminess.
UPDATED 11-20-22: Today's CommuniTEA is Rooibos Vanilla. I made it hot with some milk thistle and rooibos honey. It was quite creamy and delicious. I would definitely still highly recommend this tea!
ORIGINAL: I made my Rooibos Vanilla with just a little rock sugar. It was a nice, subtle, sweet flavor that I found to be very relaxing. I would highly recommend this tea!
CommuniTEA portion: 212 brew for 5 minutes. Just a nice simple rooibos with strong vanilla notes that smooth the whole thing out nicely.
I liked this tea. I typically like black tea but I thought this was good. It tastes similar to sugar cookies
I really enjoy red rooibos tea so with this one having the addition of vanilla, it made for a delightful cuppa! I will definitely add this one to my wish list.
I don't usually like roobios, but this one is very well done. Assertive Vanilla plays well with & hides the roobios to tolerable. I sampled this tea as part of the CommuniTea November 2022 box.
Rooibos is just not my thing. Adding vanilla does not change that. It has an unpleasant aftertaste.
I am greatly enjoying this tea. It is a damp, drizzly day and just the perfect sip this afternoon. The vanilla is light and perfectly balances the rooibos. I added nothing to my cuppa. Brewed at 212 for ten minutes.
The vanilla flavoring does a good job to mask the Roobios tang.
Not my favorite tea but it was pretty good. Not much vanilla flavor but it still reminded me of Christmas a little bit.
This was a moderately good tea. it has a natural sweetness to it, which was nice, but the rooibois is a bit strong compared to the vanilla.
Not terrible, but rooibos. Vanilla works well, but still did not make this tea anything special. Rooibos!
I do taste vanilla...I do also get the medicinal taste. Not for me but probably not bad for someone who likes red rooibos.
The Vanilla Red Rooibos is not bad but I'm liking it more and more as the weeks go by. Lol My partner is a huge rooibos-honeybush fan and it seems to be rubbing off on me. When I open the sample, it smells like warm sugar cookies. The Vanilla is very mild-sweet but very enjoyable. I used 2 tsp of honey and temp: 200:
I think rooibos already tastes like vanilla so this one didn't really impress me (I don't love red rooibos to begin with). It just doesn't pack enough flavor in for me.
It ok you can taste he vanilla, but I don’t care rooibos.
In the bag: Just the finely chopped wood chips and needles of rooibos.
On the nose (pre-steep): Prime vanilla time. Showcased on its own like this, I get the flavor's nuances with hints of dark brown sugar. Of course, my sense memory can't help but drift to vanilla ice cream. Clean texture, medium intensity.
On the nose (post-steep): The woody scent of rooibos and the vanilla are in balance. Medium intensity.
On the tongue (pre-sweetener): The sip begins with rooibos in the driver's seat. As it matures, vanilla starts to take the wheel. This is no flavor bomb - the notes here are present yet measured.
On the tongue (post-sweetener): Vanilla has just barely pulled out ahead of its woody companion. Those who crave a prominent vanilla note should use this option.
Opinion: A pleasant and surprisingly nuanced tea. The blend ratio is perfect and the siblings compliment each other. A bit plain for my taste, but still fun to drink.
Preparation: 7 min @ 212 ℉, ½ tsp monk fruit sweetener
A red rooibos vanilla dream! Enjoyed this CommuniTEA selection..Much like having a Vanilla Sugar Cookie! This is particularly good to add the sweetener of choice, to bring out the Vanilla flavor. Definitely yummy for blending but ~Not something I need, straight up, in my tea stash.
The vanilla flavor in this tea adds a slight creaminess and a little extra sweet to the naturally sweet red rooibos. A little too sweet for my personal taist but the combination dose work together nicely.
Wonderful color, aroma and flavor. A trifecta. Vanilla smooths out the tea wonderfully. Update: I like this better each time I enjoy it! Love anything rooibos
I’m not a fan of rooibos, but the vanilla flavor hides it very well. It’s quite good with some cream and sweetener. It almost tastes like candy.
A rooibos blend with a mild vanilla flavor. I added some honey to give it a sweeter taste.
So, rooibos is usually a hit or miss for me, it really depends what it gets paired with… this vanilla is pretty tasty. I have to use a fine sieve for it, the steel kind with the tiny holes, so the tiny rooibos flecks don’t dust up my cup… but I found one that works. It would be nice if there were more decaf leafs than just rooibos/honeybush/arabica, but with enough added ingredients, this one tastes pretty good.
It’s vanilla and it’s rooibos, which means it’s a cup of conflict. The vanilla smells and tastes great, but not the rooibos. Sadly, the rooibos wins. It’s probably really good, however, for those who love both vanilla and rooibos.
This is a nice relaxing tea for late in the day. I’m not a fan of red rooibos but the vanilla flavor in this one really holds its own in my opinion.
I enjoy rooibos teas and the Vanilla Rooibos taste and remind me of sugar cookies. I use rooibos honey and a tad of sweetener because I have a sweet tooth. (It just taste better) Lol
It smells lovely and has an interesting slight sweetness to it, but otherwise tastes very bland to me. I think it would be nice as part of a blend, but I don’t see myself choosing this over another tea.
My three year old loves tea, as in straight black unsweetened morning teas, but obviously I try to let her taste it only occasionally when I'm almost done with my own cup. She doesn't need help being awake.
I tried rooibos first when I was pregnant with my next baby and discovered my daughter would drink this happily with some milk and not be sad to miss out on black tea. I like the flavor of the vanilla a little better than plain rooibos, which I don't care for as much. If you're looking for a black tea alternative (such as during pregnancy) I can easily recommend this as having a similar feel. My husband likes it too, so a great one for impromptu family tea parties.
This is my favorite so far! The taste is amazing and the hint of vanilla really adds to it and the smell is so good!
This is my favorite iced tea, and my guests always comment on how good it is.
It's pretty nice. It smells a little too much like cream soda, but the flavor is that of a light ice cream, even without sugar. (Cold brewed for 10 hours)
How can you go wrong, delicious, naturally sweet rooibos and vanilla! Fantastic combo. I mix with Honeybush chocolate and/or Honeybush hazelnut.
It is good, I am going to try mixing it with another flavor to make it better! Maybe black vanilla.
Not as aggressively vanilla as I had hoped for, but the vanilla is definitely there alongside the rooibos. A relaxing cup and I enjoyed it even after it had cooled. I acidentally over steeped this and it was still good!
Really smooth with a great vanilla flavor. I love the creaminess.
I love rooibos and this one is my new favorite. The vanilla is smooth enough that you can still tell it’s a rooibos, but it softens the rooibos taste enough that I think it would be good for people who generally don’t like this type of tea.
This had a good aroma but I did not care for the taste.
I can never say anything bad about Rooibos Vanilla it is a family favorite and guests as well.
Great vanilla smell and flavor. Very smooth and rich.
The is my morning tea. It is really good and will continue to restock to keep on hand.
Very poor in flavor. Maybe I got the bottom of the barrel because it was so fine. Not like the picture.
One of our favorites! Especially good with a splash of oat milk.
