This is the greatest tea maker and I have tried many over the years. I loved it so that I bought one for my Kansas City tea drinking cousin and one for our 12 yr old granddaughter who has been drinking Adagio teas for a couple of years.
Fill with water, add leaves, and select your tea variety. The kettle will heat water to an ideal temperature and then steep for an ideal duration.

Life changing! Set it up and walk away without worrying about overly strong tea. This is especially great for the morning when you're juggling multiple chores and hustling to get out the door. The only little improvement could be the ability to manually set a time and temp. (in case you prefer to deviate from the standard brew times). But overall, really makes the tea brewing process a breeze.
Brews great tea. Recently used it for a dinner party and friends raved about the tea.
Returning. Metal bottom inside carafe has hardened silicon sealant stuck to it. During assembly the ring of silicon sealant holding the metal base to the glass carafe was breached by the inside edge of the base. Boiled tea would come into contact with the silicon & the heating element under the metal base would superheat the silicon & potentially soften/deposit silicone/leach residues into tea. Seal itself appears compromised. Will update review when replacement received.
Wish I had this for my office when I was working. So easy and convenient. As a retiree, love it. Always a fresh cup handy. Best purchase ever.
Great tea kettle. Very easy to use, and I love that it keeps the tea hot for an hour.
I have a hot water kettle, so I didn't need this, but I still wanted it. For us, it has been a good purchase. I like being able to set it up and walk away, then come back a little while later to hot tea. The steeping function works very well, and it does keep the tea at a good temperature for an hour. I think tea made in a traditional tea pot tastes slightly better, and my tea pot can make more at one time, but I'm still very happy with this purchase.
I love that I can just set it and I don't have to pay attention to the time. I noticed that I was getting weird spots on the metal bottom of the pot, but those wiped away with vinegar, so I am not too worried.
Great tea maker. Tastes so much better. Works good for several people drinking tea.
We absolutely love our new tea maker. Our teas taste excellent and it saves us from having to make multiple individual cups throughout the day. We are very happy with our purchase and highly recommend it.
On the bottom of the pot, underneath the glass (not inside it) it has already rusted after just 2 uses. It doesnt look very pleasant.
Otherwise a wonderful device!
This tea maker is the bomb! Although it doesn’t allow for complete control over temperature it hits all the basics for each type of tea. It’s a “fill it and forget it “ machine that makes plenty of quality tea for this backsliding coffee drinker. I’m new to tea drinking and this purchase has made the experience all the more pleasant. Absolutely no regrets.
I can't say enough awesome things about this tea maker. The fact that I can basically set it and forget it is the greatest. I can come back to it and not have bitter over brewed tea since the leaves don't sit in the water. It also keeps the tea hot for an hour so it will still be warm when I come back to get more tea. I have made black dragon pearls, an early grey cream and an herbal lemon drop and they came out better than ever.
This tea pot is amazing. It makes perfect tea so easy. If you want hot water you have to push the heat only button and then a temperature button. It will be great for making ice tea.
Terrific product! My wife & I enjoy making a pot of tea to share in the morning and this is perfect for that. I'm really glad I bought this tea maker.
The VelociTEA tea maker is good for what it is made for - which includes making tea using 5 specific time and temperature settings. You can also just heat water - although it took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out how. The concept is solid, as is the construction. It is larger and heavier than I anticipated, but that is not really a problem. The two main problems that I see with it are:
1) You cannot specify steeping time and temperature independently. I could not even follow the instructions on some of the tea samples that I got along with the VelociTEA.
2) It is impossible to pour all of the liquid out of the tea maker. There is always a little left at the bottom, which seems likely to reduce the sanitation and lifespan of the VelociTEA unless it is washed and towel-dried after each use - which is extra work for a gadget that is supposed to save time and effort.
Overall I am satisfied with this product, although I was hoping for a little more given the price point.
I was worried about the expense of this purchase. But my 15 year old son said “this was worth every penny”. Out of the mouths of babes.
Makes great tea easily and quickly. Never have to wonder about the right temp or time
I hesitated a little because after all this was not an inexpensive teapot but in the end I am really glad I purchased it. I couldn't be happier. After using the VelociTea Tea Maker for several nights since it arrived and after a really small and quick learning curve, it made making my tea so much simpler and keeping it warm for up to an hours so much better. So far, barring any unforeseen problems, I would highly recommend this teapot if you make tea often as I do, at least once each and every day... This is the first time I am updating a review I've made for any product but in this case I think it is worthwhile. I've had and used this Tea Maker for a month and used it every single day and it has really made my life in the tea making world much easier. My tea brews just as nicely as any other tea maker, however, with a whole lot less hassle. I couldn't be happier that I bought this and I think about how happy it makes me every single time I use it which is daily. I absolutely recommend this product.
I love the tea maker and get great results everytime! I usually set a timer for brewing the old way but with everything perfect - water temperature, timing, etc. - the tea is perfect - no bitterness just great tea. I love not boiling, pouring, and timing - just measure water and tea and push the button. And the tea is keep hot, not boiling, for an hour.
This thing is pretty great, definitely worth the price tag if you drink tea throughout the day.
I had no idea how much temperature affected tea flavor until I purchased this. Now my green and oolong teas don't taste bitter. My only problem with it is the steel gets stained by the tea.
The VelociTEA is a lot better than I imagined it to be. I was in the market for an adjustable temperature electric kettle, but paid a little more and got the VelociTEA. My household has been drinking a lot more fresh tea because of it. I love being able to have a personal serving or a 'pot' of tea.
*embarrassing side note: Couldn't figure out how to turn off the auto-heating option from the included manual, but gf looked online and saw you simply needed to press the previously selected button again
This was the best investment for well made tea that I’ve done EVER. Flawlessly makes tea every time and keep the tea hot.
I absolutely love this tea maker! Super convenient, easy to use, and easy to clean out. I would highly recommend
I was disappointed to send this back today. I tried it for 24 days, under the 30 day return policy limit. I go my refund promptly with no hassle.
The good things:
I LOVED the kettle size and handle. The basket was easy to remove and pretty easy to clean. The way the cord wrapped under the base unit for storage was the best I have ever seen. The machine is very fast at heating water and getting a pot of tea brewed. The 'heat water' option was very nice too for when I had a special tea with 'chocolate nibs' in it that I did not want to run through the system.
The things I didn't like so much but tried to deal with for 25 days:
The limited selection of time and temperatures became a problem. Some of the presets don't even match Adagio tea recommendations, like many of the black teas I have say 212 for 3 minutes, yet the black tea button is 212 for 5 minutes. It defeats the purpose of having a button to press to stop an automatic process like that...I want to make it go and have it stop. My tea collection is varied, and I decided not to keep trying to keep track of the setting that worked best with the different teas when the tea did not match one of the presets.
Cleaning: I brew a lot of different teas, and with this pot, I probably doubled my consumption...it was that convenient. With one strong flavored herbal there was a lot of residue/smell that took several washings to get off the plastic. The black plastic ring at the top of the kettle also collects tea and is a challenge to keep clean. I wound up running one or two batches of clean water through it to ensure I didn't have leftover flavors bleed into the next tea.
This leads to the other cleaning issue...the little tube and the pump underneath...where you can't see. This kettle is really cool in how it heats up the water then pumps it through a tube in the handle and on top of the tea. This cool feature is my main concern...even with my stainless steel tea thermos tea builds up on the inside and I have to scrub. Now imagine how tea will build up inside the pump/pipe...there's no way to get into those areas to keep them clean. Dark and damp is also a great home for bacteria and fungus. I did not want to have to come up with a periodic cleaning pattern using vinegar or bleach or something to keep the inner workings from becoming gross.
At this price point this is a good kettle, and the good features I described above are really good. The cleaning issues and lack of being able to choose a specific time and temperature to fit my various teas were the main reasons I returned it.
Love this new kettle! How can you make tea time easier, but this kettle! Seriously!
I am in LOVE with this Team maker. Teas that I have made myself that have tasted bitter have come out perfect using this! It is my every-dayer!
I am thrilled w/this brilliant kettle! I can’t get over how the right brew temp and time makes such a difference in taste. I now like all the teas I thought I didn’t like because I apparently ruined them. Great investment.
I will comment that this one’s Heat button does not work and the little metal sieve-like piece on the bottom falls off with washing. I am waiting to hear back from company. Do wish they had a phone contact :(
I have always loved tea, but I get lazy or forgetful. So I go through fazes where I drink tea and then get tired of pouring out tea that's been steeping for an hour. This was a birthday present this year and has completely changed my tea habit! I love the reminder beeps that my tea is ready. I love that it doesn't over steep my tea. I'm going to need a second one soon for my office!
I love this thing - Trying to drink less coffee and it helps a lot to have something so easy to use and I like the fact that it keeps it warm for you after brewing.
This is absolutely the best tea pot period ... press one biutton and ... done ... heats thew water to the perfect temperature .. cycles the water through the tea basket for the precise amount of time ... keeps the tea at the optimum temperature for an hour ... I have to admiot that I have not had to keep the tea warm for very long ... LOL. Love this tea popt!
Love this tea maker. So easy to use and makes great cup of tea. Wish there were more options for temps/times, but still very happy.
I was so excited when I saw this product--I thought Adagio would really know how to design a tea maker but I don't know when I've been so disappointed in a product. I’ve tried every type of tea and every setting and not one of them is as good as what I can brew manually.
1-The brewing time and temp are preset and fixed. There is no way to adjust if the tea is too strong. Even with a minimum amount of tea leaves, the tea is bitter from brewing too long.
2-The water recycles through the tea leaves over and over rather than gently steeping and then draining as in the IngenuiTEA…the result is bitter tea from overbrewing.
3-Water from a prior brew is not flushed out completely at the end of the brew cycle. This means that strong fruity flavors linger and (even after running plain water through the system) spoil the flavor of later brews.
4-Because the drain holes in the tea basket are on the sides, not on the bottom, emptying the wet tea leaves is very messy. The last of the water in the tea basket doesn’t drain out, and the basket drips as it is lifted out to be emptied into compost/trash/disposal. And unless the basket is removed before the tea is poured, the bitter liquid drains down into the tea as it is poured.
5-The teapot does not empty completely when the tea is poured out. This leaves a residue in the bottom and makes cleaning harder unless the very hot pot is immediately rinsed and shaken upside down to remove the remaining liquid.
6-The Heat Only setting turns off immediately no matter the temperature of the liquid.
What a letdown…it feels like everyone who designed and tested this tea maker was a coffee lover. I wish I had saved my money.
Great product - not frail and definitely works in the dishwasher - Tea is brewed perfectly. For tea lovers it is a very worthwhile item!!
I always wanted a tea pot that kept my tea hot until I could drink it all. But this is even better: it brews the tea perfectly and then keeps it hot. Love it, getting another one for my son.
This was a real hit with my tea-drinking beau. It makes enough for two big Terri’s tumblers Of tea, which is how she starts her day. This was a win!
this tea maker is fantastic. i gave one to a friend, he loves it also. tea tasts great to the last drop.
We weren't sure it was working right, but this requires some patience after using bag tea and a kettle- apparently good tea takes time ;).
We like it because it is all in one and basically we just push buttons. No need to remove lid to pour as someone else said.
This machine is the most amazing thing you will EVER buy! I was a bit hesitant because of the price but believe me it is the best tea you will ever taste! The first time I used it I stopped dead in my tracks and was like 'WOW'! The tea tasted completely different then I had ever tasted. I was amazed and tried every tea I have to fine the same result. The taste is richer, more flavorful, and much more enjoyable. I. love sugar but use a third of the amount these days because the flavor is so pure and rich. It is a must for herbal teas. And you can make a pot, leave it, come back later and heat it up to full pipping hot perfection. Thank you guys for bring tea brewing to a new modern level. And fyi clean up is very easy, carafe is a bit heavy and bulky but only needs to be rinsed out which is simple. I don't ever wright reviews or leave feedback so for me to praise a item is truly a sign of how great it is. You won't ever be sorry!
.
Makes a perfect cup of tea every time. I cannot imagine life without this tea maker.
I just got this! I love it. No more filters sitting in cups all over my counter. Yay. It's also fun to watch. I also think I will be saving some money on tea. I have been able to add more water and run it through again. Just as good. I wish it held a bit more water. But I can handle that.
So far it’s good! I’ve been drinking more tea and it seems to work by magic. And it’s easy to clean too.
I thought I made a great cup of tea, but this tea maker makes it so much better! Plus every cup is nice and warm, and perfectly brewed to the last drop.
This pot is amazing! It does pretty much anything you could want a tea pot to do. And while I do highly recommend it, there are ways it could be improved. The primary thing that I believe would make this maker even better would be to include clock that allows you to preset a time for it to start so it will be done when you first walk into your kitchen. That's pretty minor, though, so I didn't deduct any stars for it. The only other thing that comes to mind, and yet I also did /not/ deduct a star (so it's not that big of a deal) is that it is hard to get all the tea leaves out of the basket. My belief is that it is because they are so damp and it is nearly impossible to get all the liquid out w/o dumping the leaves at the same time. So it takes a while to clean out the basket, but it is not a deal breaker by any means.
I loved this tea maker when it was working. It was push a button and walk away convenient, which I love. It's also cheaper than any other model on the market, which was a big plus for me. Unfortunately, I live above four thousand feet, so it doesn't work at my elevation, so I had to dock a star. Mountain folk beware - this does not work for us. That said, if you're a flatlander, this is well worth the investment, and I'm eagerly awaiting for a model that works at my elevation.
I already own a Breville One Touch tea maker. I bought the VelociTEA for work. The Breville machine has several more features, but at half the cost, the VelociTEA is pretty fantastic. They are incredibly similar with the exception that steeping works a bit differently. Honestly there are several things I like more about Adagio’s product. The VelociTEA has a smaller minimum volume, which is fantastic for making a single cup. I also think the steeping basket is finer. Finally the volume measuments are in oz rather than ml, which isn’t a huge deal, but is nice. Finally I like the pre-sets for tea types on the VelociTEA a bit better. The features the Breville machine has that the VelociTEA doesn’t are timed start, a timer to let you know where in the brewing process it is, and customized settings in addition to the pre-sets. Honestly, if Adagio released a premium version of the VelociTEA with these additional features, and priced it similarly to the Breville machine, I’d replace the one I have at home. The VelociTEA is a pretty great machine.
Great Product and works well! When the box arrived outside corner was damaged. I started to take pictures if I needed to return it, opened it up and it was packaged so well on the inside that the box and product were in perfect condition. Thank you for caring about how these products are shipped!
Best tea maker I’ve ever owned. I had ordered a tea maker from Amazon that I promptly returned. I then ordered the VelociTea Tea Maker —- and haven’t looked back!
As several others have pointed out, the black and herbal settings do not work at high altitudes. Using the oolong setting as a workaround is not ideal because it only steeps for four minutes. This problem could be solved by adding a +1 minute button so that the user can manually adjust the steeping time. This would be a great feature anyway, because it would allow for multiple steepings. Despite this one glaring flaw, I still love this tea maker. It makes the perfect pot of white tea, even better than I can manage to make using the varieTEA kettle and a manual timer.
