Katherine Johnson (1918 - 2020) was an important mathematician who worked with NASA. She calculated the orbital projections for John Glenn's famous orbit around the world. She was unknown because of discrimination until the movie "Hidden Figures" was released revealing the many women involved in important shuttle launches.
