The word is made up of two parts: wabi, which means simplicity, and sabi, which means the beauty that comes with age and time.
Wabi-sabi is a way of life that encourages people to accept the natural cycle of growth and decay, and to find beauty in the flaws of existence. It's a rejection of the Western ideal of artificial beauty and perfection. If everything in nature is always changing, then nothing can ever be absolutely complete. And since perfection is a state of completeness, then nothing can ever be perfect. Hence, the wabi-sabi philosophy teaches us that all things, including us and life itself, in a beautiful, natural flux state of flow and TRUE beauty.
