The blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) is a common feeder guest across the eastern half of the United States. Part of the family Corvidae, they resemble their Corvid cousins in their wide and varied diet, consisting of anything from nuts and berries to small rodents, eggs, and carrion. Personality-wise, they are loud and boisterous but highly intelligent, even learning to mimic hawk calls to scare off the competition.
