Ti Kuan Yin Customer Reviews

Legendary and beloved oolong tea from Fujian, China. Warm, soft and soothingly mineral in texture. Notes of toasted walnut and tender collard greens. Intriguing lingering floral aroma, lightly orchid, and gentle astringency. A meditative cup.

Their Jade Oolong tea tastes similar and is less than half the price not to mention this tea is a little weak for my tastes.

Velvety and mineraly mouth feel, with very faint vegetal notes. An easy, mild floral finish. This is one of my favorite teas to relax with.

This had a great flavor on the first steeping, very similar in quality to the master's formosa ali shan, but the second steeping had almost no flavor.

★★★★☆

This oolong is floral, but not as floral as other oolongs I have had at Adagio. It does however have a naturally sweet taste.

This tea is one of my favorites. Since first drinking it in China, its smooth quality with slightly floral finish has been one of the things I dream of. The best cups of tea come from the second steeping.

A bit strong, but a nice blend. I like it over ice too!

Delicious oolong with a nice floral semisweet flavor. Clover honey aroma. Beautiful light green color. Great with multiple infusions.

I love the way the leaves open during a brew. They're so pretty. And so is the resulting brew. It's soft and fragrant with fruity undertones with hints of floral. Just what I needed to start my day.

One of my favorite teas from Adagio. A nice mellow oolong, slight taste of honeysuckle.

I'm getting very light tea as if slightly colored hot water, no matter how much tea leaves I put. I guess instructions on water temperature should be revised (I'm working on it now).

★★★★★

I liked this because it is floral in a way similar to Jade Oolong. But this costs about twice as much. I really tried to taste the walnuts and collard greens as is described, alas my taste buds must just not be that sophisticated. It is a very nice cup, mildly I stringent, but gets bitter when cooled.

This has lovely sweet anf floral flavor and is amazing for several steepings. I usually peter out long before this tea does! But all things considered, I have had better teas from other companies that are similar in type and price, hence the imperfect rating.

A nice iron goddess of mercy tea, a little bland on subsequent steeps.

★★★★★

A great oolong. It reminds me a lot of jade oolong but a bit smoother.

The flavor of this is so sweet, delicate, and floral. Delicious!

★★★★★

This tea is great. It has a great floral aroma and taste on the first few steepings that transitions, on later steepings, to a quite sweet and full bodied tea.

I think this is an interesting tea worth trying out. It is a bit floral for my tastes, even though I do like jasmine teas. It was just a bit more floral tasting than I was expecting. It steeps to a pale yellow green and has a strong rosey-jasminey aroma. If you like floral teas then I highly recommend it. If you like it on the sweeter side, like myself, I found a dab of standard white sugar was much better than honey. Adding honey made this tea almost too cloying to drink, for me. I'm a bit new to oolong teas, but prefer the Fujian Rain Oolong over all I've tried so far. Planning to try it iced next and will most likely enjoy it best that way.

I love it! I'm not too familiar with oolongs but each one I have tried helps clear my allergies and for that I am grateful!

★★★★★

One of my new favorites. The aroma alone is worth buying the tea: sweet and kind of vanilla-like. The first steep is good, but a shadow of the second. I usually steep three times. Just keep steeping until the leaves open all the way. Naturally very sweet, and extremely smooth. I guess I would describe the flavor as 'precisely delicate' or exacting. Very pale liquor, but still attractive. I can definitely see why the Chinese love the Iron Goddess.

Loved it! Remember a similar flavor of tea while I was in a local family's home in China

★★★★☆

I really like this tea. It's not as good as more expensive oolongs on here, but definitely worth its price.

This is a great tasting tea that scores straight A's with my college age niece. Wish we could get it year around.

★★★★★

I haven't tried very many oolongs so they confuse me. They seem to have a ridiculously huge range, from almost-green to almost-black, and I don't see what ties them together. I chose to try this one because of its great reviews.
Having only tried dark oolongs up until now, when I first brewed this one I was a little apprehensive because it was so pale that I was sure I must have added too much water or not brewed it for long enough. I was then surprised by how richly flavorful this tea is. It is bright and flowery, reminding me specifically of jasmine. It also gives me a little honey-like taste underneath my tongue like some green teas do.
I see some commenters complaining about lack of flavor. I think the problem is that this isn't the kind of tea you can brew in a tea bag or a little wire basket. These leaves are HUGE. A basket won't let them unfurl completely and that'll stifle the flavor. You have to drop them directly into the cup or pot to give them enough space.
Be careful of overbrewing, though. It doesn't get bitter, but it does start to taste a little soapy.

Very light and buttery. Good for green tea fans who would like something slightly stronger.

Probably my all time favorite oolong tea, I always have some on hand.

Nice mediation tea. My favorite goddess :)Not overwhelming.

★★★★★

I really like jade oolongs, and this one does not disappoint. (To be honest, I can't taste too much of a difference between it and the cheaper jade oolong. This one is probably a bit more complex when it is steeped correctly. But the difference is subtle.)

This tea is alright. It tastes pretty basic for the price though.

Love the softness in this tea. it's mellow, earthy, and light. Makes a great breakfast tea!

Maybe I did something wrong? I brewed this in the Personalitea pot, used a heaping teaspoon, and steeped for 3 minutes. When I poured it out, the water came out of the pot nearly as clear as it went in and had virtually no flavor. What gives? This was a huge disappointment as several people suggested this tea.

If perfection were an oolong, this is it. No other oolong can compare to this exceptional blend of earthiness and flowers. There's almost no astringency and it always goes down smooth.

Overall, one of my preferred go-to's for an oolong. While this tea isn't as full or rich as others, the characteristics of the Ti Kuan Yin changes significantly when you re-steep the leaves.

★★★★★

I am a big fan of these green oolong teas. This is the best I've tried. It's subtle and floral. I loved watching the leaves unfurl in the cup. I'm going to keep this tea around all the time.

★★★★★

One of my favorite oolongs, you can steep it multiple times. I bought a yixing pot just for it.

★★★☆☆

I wanted to like this tea. it seems so well-loved, and the description sounded appealing.

The scent is very floral, and not of a kind of flower I like to drink--it's like overapplied perfume. It's much stronger than I'd expect tea leaves to accomplish all alone, without going through a scenting process like a jasmine green.

The taste is somewhat less florid when hot, but it grows as the tea cools. It's also a bit grassy, a bit of tangy mineral. I'm not seeing the 'walnut' and 'collard greens' notes that Adagio's description claims.

Was not the flavor I was looking for. did not taste of the straight green I was hoping. More garden like, less green.

Not only are the leaves beautiful in my cup, but as more of a green tea lover I am delighted by the flavors and aromas present with this tea. Bought the sample, but will be getting this quite regularly from now on. Fantastically floral and grassy at the same time!!

got this for my mom for her birthday, she love the jade oolong, and she was pretty pleased with it. I think she still favors the jade though.

★★★★☆

Nothing particularly special about this oolong or it's taste. It is not as 'green' as some but also not as smooth. I think I will stick to Ali Shan. It's worth the higher price.

I tried Adajio's 'ti kuan yin' tea bags a few years ago, and it truly was memorable. This time around (December 2012), it is not even close. I bought loose and bags, both were disappointing. It seems to be basic green tea. This is no 'ti kuan yin'.

★★★★★

I love trying different kinds of tea. I order many different sample sizes, but maintain only a few favorites. This ti kuan yin definitely impressed me, very light and floral. definitely tasted honeysuckle. I will certainly order more in larger quantities.

★★★★★

I'm new to oolong teas, they are so complicated and so complex in flavor. This tea is delightfully floral, and very mellow in flavor. A great tea for warming up on a cold night. My favorite oolong so far.

★★★★☆

The first oolong tea I tried, and I still love it! Took a while to get the brewing time right, but definitely one of my favorites.

★★★★★

I love this tea. I first tried it as part of the oolong Dragon sampler box. It is a nice light oolong but my favorite part is a nice floral finish. It reminds me of a fresh hyacinth in the springtime. It even comes with a little postcard to send to the grower in China to thank him!

★★★★★

Wow. This was really good. Strong oolong character, yet still unique and very flavorful.

Very good oolong for a reasonable price. It is one I drink almost daily, and I'm sad when it runs out so I'll be ordering more soon!
