What an interesting tea! Upon opening the packet there was a woody smell, not unpleasant but definitely woody. I brewed it for 3 minutes and was surprised to find the taste was very subtle, which wasn't at all what I expected. I added a teaspoon of honey which enhanced the flavor. This is a really nice option to a black tea!

Love this! Oolongs are always a hit for me, and with earthy and iron tastes, a slight hint of fruit, it's a great cup to enjoy on a misty morning or a lazy afternoon.

Reviewed as part of the communiTE. I love oolong tea!

One of my favorites due to it’s gentle aroma and taste, needed no sweetening to be enjoyed. Very slight mineral taste but not overwhelming. Just a hint of peach which adds to the refreshment.

I really enjoyed this! I can’t quite put my finger on what flavors I’m tasting - it doesn’t taste earthy to me like other reviewers have noted... perhaps cocoa or nutty? At any rate, it was tasty - can’t wait for my second steep!

Not a fan, my tea smelled a little fishy and the taste was not what I expected.

This oolong tastes like green tea, but I enjoyed its simple flavor.

I got this as part of my ommuniTEA, I would never have tried another oolong on my own since they have never been my type. This one was surprisingly good with some cream. It’s not a strong flavor has more complexity than the other ones I have tried. I wouldn’t order it on my own, but I don’t hate it.

This smelled better than I was expecting out of the package, but once I brewed it, the flavor was way too earthy for me.

I was greeted with lots of beautiful long, black, and twisted tea leaves, typical of a Wuyi Oolong, in my CommuniTEA packet. Now I know why they call this tea “Black Dragon.” Mild cocoa aromas were noted in the bag.

There was a more than amount of leaves in the packet ... 4 grams to be exact. Therefore, I decided to make a 16 oz steep using my Yixing clay mug that I only use for oolong teas. A 15 second hot rinse was done prior to steep to help get rid of any tea dust and awaken the leaves.

When hot, definite mineral tastes were noted on my tongue along with mild cocoa aromas and tastes. When warm, mineral tastes were almost gone and replaced by peppery zings. A smooth buttery mouthfeel was noted as the brew cooled. Moderate cocoa flavors carried all the way to finish. A second steep provided similar results. This one’s at least a three steeper! Make sure to sip this tea and enjoy the flavors. (15 sec hot rinse, 2 mins @ 190ºF, no sugar)

I generally love oolongs, and this one is no exception. It definitely has a unique flavor profile, so it's worth trying even if you already have a variety of oolongs.

I'm not a fan of the grassy/earthy teas so I'm not really surprised to find that this tea tastes like smoked dirt to me. Not, not, not my thing. :(

★★★★★

It has a twig after taste, similiar to hojika, yet sweeter and lighter

I was hoping for a stronger mineral flavor, but this was still a good oolong with a nice silky mouthfeel.

This is a really nice and approachable oolong that is lightly creamy and delicately floral. It is lovely on its own and a perfect base for jasmine or peach blends.

A nice after dinner Oolong much more complex and bolder than your bright Golden Flower Oolong

This is good, but (in my opinion) not as good as the jade oolong.

A lovely, darker oolong that’s dominated by a a mineral flavor profile. It tastes like the earth, but not the rich, dark soil that some black teas remind me of. Instead, it reminds me of a rocky mountainside. I don’t know if that’s how other people would describe it, but it’s very vivid in my head for some reason. I suspect this is the type of tea that drinkers will either really enjoy and stay away from. I quite enjoy it!

I really like this tea, it's got a nice smokey nutty flavor that reminds me of rain in a deep wood.

Wonderful tea. It really did have that wonderful mineral/rock taste to it that I was looking for. Reminded me of camping with my father and being in nature. I will repurchase in a large size! I enjoyed both infusions. Cannot say if it's good for more than that, as I usually only infuse my teas twice.

This is still my favorite among the more oxidized oolongs from Adagio. It has the classic oxidized taste but also interesting mineral depths that are revealed as you steep multiple times.

Very refreshing taste! The flavor for me was somewhat mild, but has just the right amount of floral and an after taste that reminds me of those fancy water bottle commercials. you know the one that says 'bottled at the source'. Im assuming thats the mineral taste it talks of, but its very enjoyable! I plan to add a little bit of lavender flower to my next cup for some adding relaxation flavors!

Really tasty! This is similar in taste to the wuyi ensemble that adagio also sells. The mineral flavor is very nice and the leaves are good for multiple infusions

Update:
Undrinkable. The original sample that I received was delicious, so I ordered a large amount of this tea. The batch that I got tastes completely different. It's rough, coarse, and tastes like it has been burned. I've tried various steeping this at various temperatures for varying lengths of time and adding honey/cream. Nothing works. I think that I'll use the rest of this as compost.

Original Review:
Imagine water falling over rocks and flowing, fresh and clean, out of a cave. That's what this tea tastes like to me. It has a wonderful mineral flavor like you would imagine water from the heart of nature would taste like. Absolutely wonderful.

This is a fantastic Oolong. I can t get enough of the rocky flavor. Personally, I would say that this tea is significantly nicer when brewed for a shorter period of time. The bitterness will overwhelm the flavors quickly with this one if you brew it for too long. Brew it just right though, and it s fantastic.

This is a smooth, balanced tea. To me, it tastes lightly sweet in a malty way, with a pleasant minerality. As it says in the description, this is a great every day tea.

I did not think I would find a smoother, more delicious tea than Fujian Baroque... but Fujian Rain matched that so wonderfully! Your teas far exceed and excel in taste than other tea companies selections..

This is such a lovely and interesting tea. It has a distinct mineral taste, which sounds weird, but is oddly delicious. I am a chronic over-brewer, but this tea never became super bitter from over-steeping. It was always smooth and was a very relaxing cup. With this tea I may have been officially converted to the Church of Oolong (sorry green teas, you will always be my first love).

At first it was tricky to steep this correctly and it ended up slightly bitter, but I found that using a high leaf to water ratio and a lower temperature brings out a smooth sweetness underlying the almost smoky rock/mineral flavor. It has a nice savory quality to it, and the aroma is the scent of rocks after it rains with a hint of apricots. Will definitely be ordering more to try out different brewing methods.

Lovely mineral flavor that gets smoother over several steeps. First steep was a bit bitter for my liking, and as with other rock oolongs I've had the flavor fell of rather quick (~4-5 steeps). Still a perfect, intriguing tea to serve to guests at a gong fu tea party.

after playing around with the steeping I found a great way to brew this and really get those sweet undertones. I steeped it at 180 for 2-3 minutes and it turned out lovely

The way this tea smell brings back a memory of a place that I've never been to.
I how this tea changes over later infusions. I will usually have cup at 3 when I start to feel sluggish and I will find my self on my 6th infusion at dinner time, still appreciating the 'rock taste' and smells of Autumn. There's a distinct honey character for the early infusions and a very musty aroma throughout. Don't let that put you off, it is a very comforting and light cup.
