I'm not a fan of oolong teas, but this one has a nice earthy flavor once it cools down a little, and is easy to drink. I wish I had taken a glance at the reviews, I would have brewed this a little differently, but it still turned out nicely. 2 mins @ 195°F

A really good oolong. Nothing fancy, but it is exactly what you want an oolong to be.

Plain and simple if you like oolong this will be a winner for you. If not skip as there is a raw earthy dirt taste that won't be in your wheel house.

A nice smooth mouthful of warm tea, last time I brewed this it was rather bitter and left my mouth feeling dry, temperature is everything! This time I could taste all the nuanced flavors, fruit, sweet almost chocolatey, and barely mineral. Brewing differently made me change my mind and really enjoy this tea :)

UPDATED 7-18-22: Today's CommuniTEA is Fujian Rain. There was not a lot in my packet, but it was enough. I made mine hot with some tupelo honey. It was very good! I have had this tea several times and I have found the following combinations to be good:

Eucalyptus and Sourwood Honey
Lemon Balm and Sourwood Honey
Raspberry Leaves, Mango, Orange Peels, Strawberry, and Sourwood Honey
and Rose Hips, Butterfly Pea Flowers, Rose Petals, Hibiscus, and Sourwood Honey

I would highly recommend this tea!

ORIGINAL: I brewed my Fujian Rain with some burdock and manuka honey, and I even boiled the water and steeped it for an extra long time. Despite all this, it was still extremely watery. It's wasn't bad, but it was underwhelming. I will need to dress this one up more in the future. Despite this, I would still recommend the tea.

UPDATED from 10/23/20: The tea brewed into a light, lovely golden color. It smells and has a soft sweet taste of mineral earth as a good oolong should. However, this one also has a delightful, light fruitiness that comes forward and then lingers into the clean finish. What an interesting name “Water Sprite” as I do feel the tea is sweetly smooth yet it playfully tickles my tongue with its faint fruitiness. It needs no sweetener. This delicious, well balanced tea can be steeped many times. Very much an enjoyable cup of tea. ( 2 mins @ 180ºF).

Classy cup of oolong that holds up to multiple steeps. This is perfect for gongfu brewing as the flavors develop and change over steeps. I added a bit of sweetness to bring out the fruity notes. Sip, sip away!

Wonderful cup. Rich, toasty and deeply flavored with a soft and smooth feel to it. Very clean without astringency.

There was no aroma coming from my packet, which I thought odd. Once the water hit the leaves a toasty scent wafted up. This one was very mineral tasting with a peppery finish. I didn’t get the peach or chocolate notes, but maybe my tastebuds aren’t refined enough to detect them. It left me with a dry mouthfeel after each sip, more that I was expecting. I like darker oolongs and this one’s not bad, but this one’s not my favorite. (190° for 2 minutes)

CommuniTea: This packet was stuffed with long black leaves. Great aroma. Would try again.

The earthy aroma and the shape of the leaves when I opened my packet sparked my curiosity. I couldn’t imagine the taste that went with the aroma. I wasn’t disappointed upon sipping my tea. It was such a complex flavor. I describe it more as a feeling than a taste. It is a calming tea that leaves you peaceful and serene. Instead of sitting in my house I am transported to a green carpeted field with a stream bubbling nearby and wildflowers swaying in the breeze. It is the smell of the nature, forest, earth and rock. It is a unique tea and I love it.

It's always more difficult to write reviews when you enjoy the tea so much you forget to write things down. Fujian Rain is one of those teas. Stone-fruit level of sweetness matches a light mineral tone; this tea makes a lovely daily drinker.

Not my usual tea type but a refreshing change. Complex umami flavor and very smooth. Steeped 2-3 times and each brew slightly more mild.

This tea was a surprise hit for me. I wanted a bit of variety and tried a couple new teas including this one and wow. It reminds me of Wuyi rock tea but with less "rock" and more classic "dark side of oolong" flavors. This is going into my regular rotation.

★★★★☆

I can definitely taste the mineral/rock flavor! With very short gong fu steeps (4g tea with 100ml boiling water, 5 seconds at a time) a little more mild sweetness comes out so it's a bit more of a toasty apricot flavor. Nice but not noticeably better than the cheap 'dahongpao' I can get at my Asian market.

Very enjoyable cup of tea. This and Wuyi Ensemble were ordered as samples and I was pleasantly surprised by the complexity and smoothness of both. I will reorder each.

A light woodsy oolong with a mineral finish. I didn't pick up on the apricot or spice as the description noted, but I did find it to be a pleasant cup of tea.

Easily my new favorite tea. There is something about this tea that touches the soul

★★★☆☆

If you like black tea like I do then this oolong is for you, but I can't keep from wondering is this an oolong? It's definitely darker than any Darjeeling first flush I've seen or tried. It even seems more oxidized than some second flushes. If I was a green tea drinker or someone who appreciated lightly oxidized oolongs, I would be very disappointed with this tea. I guess I just don't see the point of spending money on this product. Why not just buy a good black tea? Is it because of the mineral flavor everyone is raving about? About 20 different flavors come to mind that I would rather pay money for in a tea than mineral. I will drink this tea occasionally and maybe buy another sample size in the far distant future. Definitely not a must have.

This is by far my favorite tea I have had. It has a moderate mineral flavor with a backbone of smokiness and nuances of spices. It is a perfect everyday tea and holds up well to multiple infusions.

I didn't expect this to be so light! However, I have no reasoning behind this assumption for it to not be. It does have the word 'Rain' in its name. Very delicious. I did not get the bitter taste some green teas tend to have also.

I’m a big fan of rock oolongs, and Fujian Rain is a great example. It’s priced well, and has the complex flavor of a more expensive tea. Mineral flavors are on the forefront, with a smooth, mild fruit flavor supporting the minerality. I have made it gongfu style, and it easily stands up to 10 steeps or more. It’s a delicious everyday oolong!

This tea is on the border of OK and good, but I have chosen good. It is more of an acquired taste. Very earthy, and it almost smells and tastes like roasted nori (the seaweed in sushi rolls). Needs sweetness due to earthy flavor.

This is not my usual type of oolong, as I tend to prefer a more floral, 'greener' variety. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it! It had a lovely toasty aroma and flavor.

It was earthy, mineral-y, and not that generic grassy green tea at all. Its a great everyday green tea at this price point.

Yummy oolong. The tea has an earthy malty flavor and aroma. It has a smooth mouthfeel, a hint of spice and a mineral finish. A good tea for gongfu, it held up for many steeps.

A quintessential Chinese black tea. It steeps to a lovely, translucent warm brown liquor with a slightly fruity forward presentation. The first sip took me back down memory lane to family dinners at a favorite Chinese restaurant. A delightful tea I will order again.
