This is so good! The description is on key with this tea. Mineral smell and taste, good woody oolong base underneath. I will definitely order a large bag of this when it comes back in stock!
This Shui Xian is a high fired, medium grade oolong with a rich-tasting amber cup and nuances of minerals, apricots and spice.

I've become a fan of teas with a mineral flavor aspect. This one does not disappoint.
Oh my. The mineral taste is up front, followed by a darker apricot taste. That initial taste is clean and tastes like mountain spring water. Then it changes into a slightly smoky fruity flavor with a hint of vegetal flavor. This is a wonderfully complex tea, and I only wish I had ordered more!
It is like a nice gentle rain. If you wanted strong than this is not what you want.
tasted sort of nutty to me, and was a pretty good dark roast oolong. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if I would buy it in the future.
Similar to wuyi but a bit cheaper. It is delicious and calming.
I find that I am a fan of oolong teas - especially as iced teas and compared to black tea. I tend to prefer the oolongs with fruitier and floral undertones to them. I thought the fujian rain was really good, but it was milder in any sweet undertones and had more of a smokey flavor to it, which I didn't mind, but it was definitely earthier than what I've been used to so far. I haven't tried it iced yet, and in curious to see what flavors that brings out.
Slight chocolate note, not overly strong brew, but good tea.
Compared to its cousin, Wuyi Ensemble, it definitely has a slightly stronger roasted flavor. It does not have the clean mouth, drying aftertaste that wuyi has. Slightly less complex, but more robust. Definitely better than Wuyi Ensemble when paired with food, as its stronger flavor will shine through. Try washing these leaves and/or resteeping for a smoother flavor.
I really liked this one. The fujian rain was a great oolong. It's a bit Smokey which I usually don't like but this was so smooth the smoky taste was fine. It's very complex and just gets better with each infusion giving you different layers of flavors.
Very good. earthy, and not too sweet or citrusy. I like this very much, and prefer it over more expensive Oolongs.
This is pretty good for a dark oolong. I would definitely buy again.
Was able to brew this twice by sticking close to the bowering time recommended. Smells earthy and veg strive in the pack, slightly roasted and brews to a pale gold which lightens with each steeping. Really light roasted flavor, I didn't really detect any smokiness but I definitely caught a floral note after steeping, in both smell an taste.
I think this tea will do well in a blend with similar light favors. Though I think it might get lost very easily. I enjoyed this tea a lot and look forward to buying a full size in the near future.
Apparently I've just got a thing for Fujian teas, as a favorite of mine is the Fujian Baroque. I've never had much luck with oolongs - they're normally a bit too subtle for me - but this one is very interesting. It has a slight bit of vegetal flavor (but not too much - normally I'm not a big fan of vegetal teas), but the bulk of the flavor is something that I can really only describe by resorting to the description, as a sort of mineral flavor. Very good.
This oolong was quite a character... The scent within the bag is almost indescribable with a slight veggie and fruity scent. The taste is even odder as sometimes I would get a bit of a 'rocky' taste on my tongue, then later on I can swear that I'd just licked the skin of a peach. O.O There's more...I just can't describe it, though. It's a really delicious tea and I must have a bigger bag!>:(
Absolutely the most relaxing tea I've ever tried, I adore it iced, its my favorite tea here and I highly recommend it for everyone, its just magnificent, I just can't tell you how much I love this tea!
I didn't get the apricot flavor or scent at all, but I got a bit of mineral and a very noticeable roasted flavor that I found quite pleasant. I will definitely buy this again.
19-Apr update: makes a fabulous iced tea! I was able to get three steepings by 2.5 min on the first, 3.5 on the second and 4.5 on the third. just as I always do for the hot drink.
Smokey flavor with a hint of sweetness. Could have been a bit sweeter and I would have loved it.
As most reviewers have said this tea definitely has that mineral taste and I would say it does remind me of the smell of rain and wet rocks. It's unlike any other tea I've had before in a good way and has been added to my regular weekly rotation of teas.
I got more of an earthy feel from this tea than a mineraly, but I can see where people get that hint. I drink this, and it's a rich, almost woody flavor, but also has the scent of good soil. It's a very rich flavor, very deep with lots of earthy notes. A great stronger tea, good with rich honey, especially for those who like a stronger brew.
When I first read about this tea and saw the color and shape of its leaves, I was expecting a more distinct flavor. It tasted similar to many run-of-the-mill bagged and loose Wuyi Oolong varieties that I have tried.
Update: The above review was likely the result of either a lackluster sample or brewer's error. I have been able to produce positively delicious results with a more recent lot of this tea using the prescribed brewing instructions.
More of a green tasting oolong. Would not order again, but nothing wrong w/tea just prefer more black tasting oolongs.
I expected an everyday plain tea and it was a little worse than expected, leaves seemed old. Maybe just a bad batch, the tea seems like a good go to if it had been more fresh.
Quite possibly my new favorite tea. Warm, mellow, toasty, with a slight astringency that doesn't approach bitter. Rich and complex enough to be interesting without becoming overwhelming. A delicious and fortifying cup. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
This Oolong is too strong and smoky for me. It is definitely more comparable to Black tea.
A nice oolong. I would suggest steeping for a little more than the suggested 2-3 minutes. Then again I like stronger brews.
This tea is absolutely delicious. It is indeed minerally, as per the description, and yes, I'd say it reminds me of rain. Re-brews wonderfully.
Very notable mineral taste and smell, great smooth flavor. Over multiple brewings it gets more fruity but retains a bit of that mineral taste. This is a great oolong and I highly reccomend it.
Wow... Maybe I'm easily impressed because I'm completely new to the world of loose leaf tea, (this was my first cup of any sort of oolong tea) but I love it! It has this awesome taste (kind of a mineral taste, just like the page says) that I didn't even know tea could have.
A top class oolong tea. Resembling a taste of semi-sweet bark with subtle notes of nutty floral flavors. A fantastic tea either hot or cold. Goes perfect with a dab of honey.
I love oolongs, and fujian rain is a great daily tea. It's got enough body to be a drink with dinner, and enough flavor to be nice on its own. A very functional tea, and great for its price point.
Never had an oolong before..what a great first choice!
This is one of my favorite hot teas. It is so mild and delicious! You can just taste the rich earthy minerals that were in the water that grew this tea. Drinking this tea is the best way to relax and feel centered.
Wow! This is amazing! I like my oolong's to be strong and this one is exceptional! You need to give this one a try!
Every time I drink this, I think 'Amaaazing'. I wonder why I didn't give up coffee sooner. I love the hint of apricot and spice. I make mine with a teaspoon of honey and 1/2 teaspoon of natural cane sugar.
Simply put this tea reminds me with every sip the beautiful power of oolongs.
I'll order this again. I would not have thought on my own to use the word 'mineral' to describe the flavor, but it does fit. Light color, bright and fresh. 2nd steeping was not smoky but still pleasant. The large dark green leaves are lovely, makes me want a glass teapot to show this off.
How could I resist trying a tea that looks like that and tastes like rocks- and yet is said to be good? It is good enough, and very mellow despite those fierce looking leaves. I usually prefer something a bit bolder, to be honest, but I find this to be a nice quiet afternoon brew. I wouldn't make this your first oolong, but if you know you like oolongs, and rocks, then go for it. Ultimately, I must say I will go back to bolder teas when I'm done with this, though.
I bought this for my husband who rather enjoyed this tea. He said it had a great flavor and would be getting more of it one day.
My new favorite. It's better than even some of the more expensive oolongs I've tried. It's a nice natural mineral/rainy taste with this really unique, thick and satisfying mouthfeel.
Great oolong taste. Good for 2nd infusion. Light and refreshing.
This earthy black tea reminds me that some day the snow will end and the spring rains will come. This tea is perfect for all day sipping since it has enough flavor to stand multiple steepings.
The aroma from the cup is subtle and comforting. This is a simple light cup of tea. I get a slightly vegetal taste, in addition to a sweet honey. I prefer this tea without sugar.
Just ordered this recently, and upon first taste it has quickly risen to one of my favorites. Exceptionally smooth (watch that brewing time, don't go over 2 minutes) and produces a surprisingly light color liquid despite the apparent darkness of the leaves. Oddly, I got a whiff of 'cannabis' in the leaves/package--just my odd nose interpreting the delicate smokiness maybe, but the cup itself is incredibly balanced--just wonderful.
Much lighter than I like in an oolong, but the flavor is quite good. Sort of like roasted peanut hulls. The apricot flavor comes out pretty well in the finish. I think I could get used to it.
I wonderfully light and airy tea. It is exquisite and certainly one of my favorites on any day.
Almost reminds me of petrichor. that kind of wet dust smell you get right after a storm
This is a good everyday oolong for me. It is definitely fruity combined with a mineraly taste, and it holds up well to multiple steepings. Oolong is my favorite tea to have unflavored, and I am glad to have found this one for my day to day oolong fix!
This has become my very favorite oolong. It is fantastic! I only ordered a sample, and I've been dying for it to come back in stock so I can order a giant bag!! This is going to become my afternoon staple.
This is one of the few black teas that I have enjoyed that I would compare to some of my favorite white teas. Simple, light, and sweet.
