Not bitter at all like other matcha I've tried in the past. Will definitely be back to buy more. Perfect flavor, kinda grassy.
Only the finest, young, shade-grown gyokuro tea leaves are used to create matcha. The leaves are plucked and laid out flat to dry. Veins are removed and the leaves, now called tencha, are carefully ground in granite mills until they become the precious powder.

My favorite matcha! I make lattes out of it with honey, sugar, milk and half and half.
Nice break from mid morning or early afternoon coffee. Like it so much I bought pound of it. 👍👍
I thought it was expensive (and it is), but the quality justifies the price. Excellent, authentic Matcha.
This is top-quality! It's perfect for the candy recipes I have planned for it!
A great addition to smoothies or sweetened with a touch of sugar in a latte. Don t forget to use a small amount of liquid to make a paste/slurry first, before mixing with the full amount of water/milk for brewing.
Trying this again. I mixed up my review for this with the whipped matcha honey.
I am new to matcha so I started with the sticks. It was suggested to me to try this one since I wanted to experiment more with plain matcha. I’ve only tried it two times now. Trying different ways to make it. Both time were lattes so I can only speak from that perspective. I can tell this is an upgrade from the matcha in the sticks. It was very smooth, not gritty at all. It made a very tasty oat milk matcha latte. I feel this was well worth the money. It may not seem like a lot of tea, but a little goes a long way.
So this is my first time trying matcha more seriously (tried previously from a different retailer), and although I have no real experience to compare from, I really love this! I also got the blueberry one which was equally great!
Great tasting matcha at a great price. I don't even have to sift it and my morning cup/bowl comes out perfectly.
So good! What you expect from good every day matcha!
Tastes great! Good quality ceremonial matcha, good on its own and also great for making boba.
One of the best matchas I've tried. Been enjoying it to help me through my days.
Beautiful bright green color unlike some competitors' 'ceremonial grade'. Flavor is just like I hoped. Wondering if 1 teaspoon per cup is a bit much (haven't experimented yet). UPDATE: I’ve been drinking 1/2 teaspoon per mug with 1 teaspoon mct powder. 1 teaspoon matcha is way too much imo. Stir as you drink it so it’s consistent throughout.
This was my first ever match tea, and I was sort of shocked at how green matcha is in the cup. The flavor is amazing. It is almost sweet tasting and reminds me of eating pocky sticks.
My only complaint is that it settles too fast. Maybe I'm just whisking it wrong, but the flavor is good.
Relaxing, yummy, and easy to make, just what I need for lunch!
This matcha was smooth and utterly delicious. Definitely high quality.
This was my first time to try matcha. It's easy to prepare. I found that I really only needed a scant half teaspoon for about 12 ounces of water - this is strong stuff! I think this is a quality tea, and it's very flavorful. I just don't think it's 'my cup of tea.' Please forgive the pun.
Was glad we tried but to much of a raw grassy taste.
This powder is so nice! I love whisking matcha and adding it to a latte or water to have plain! I have even used this for baking! It is very versatile! The flavor is earthy and bitter which I like!
Adding as little water as possible to mix before adding it to the final drink helps make the beverage smooth and not clumpy!
I drink this tea every morning. Matcha is my favorite type of tea because it has a higher caffeine level and a nice flavor.
Matcha is certainly an acquired taste and patience with the process. I am still not a super fan but will keep trying to figure it out and not just feel like I am drinking dirt grass.
This is a nice matcha for every day drinking. It's pretty good on its own and also stands up well mixed with oat milk for a latte, so seems like a nice middle ground between culinary and ceremonial grade. Also pairs really well with dark chocolate.
It smells bright and fresh like sweet grass. The first sip is bitter but not unpleasant, followed by strong vegetal and umami flavors. The aftertaste is lightly sweet, but you have to make sure to let it fill your mouth fully on all sides of the tongue to capture it. When whisked, it has a luscious and creamy mouthfeel with some astringent bite to it.
My favorite way to prepare it is with a bamboo whisk, about 1/2-1 teaspoons of matcha depending on how strong you want it, sifted into a chawan and blended with a couple ml of water to form a thick paste and smooth out any clumps. Then pour in 2oz of water and whisk for about 45 seconds until frothy. A water temperature of 170-175°F seems to be the best range to get balanced flavors.
love this matcha. It enhances my drinks, just make sure you don't use boiling water.
I love matcha so much. I wasn't expecting it to taste much different from the usual stuff I get,but it has a more authentic (idk if this is the right word😅) taste to it. Amazing overall!
I've made a few cups with this matcha now, and every time I am incredibly pleased with the results. I've used a couple other brands of matcha before even though Adagio is my go-to for tea (gifts, available at the local grocery, you know how it is), but this one really stands above.
It's got a certain deep flavor that sits on the back of my tongue after every sip that I adore. Right out of the tin, it's got a clean scent, beautiful color, and it mixes like a dream. So far I've made regular matcha; added rock sugar or simple syrup for sweeteners; made a matcha latte; and a matcha cocktail (basically an iced matcha latte with a dash of sake). Each cup has come out beautifully.
I purchased this for my first attempt at making matcha lattes at home. Wow! So much better than what I've been buying in coffee shops--fresh, vibrant, and with a touch of honey not too sweet.
Love this matcha! Good flavor, good price, neat tins!
Really good stuff. After trying a variety of matcha from different brands, I learned that when purchasing matcha, it should come from Japan, not China, and should list its cultivar. Otherwise you might be consuming lead or a mix of different matcha powders from multiple cultivars. Adagio’s matcha is the smoothest, finest, and cleanest I have tried so far.
I'll admit to not being super knowledgeable on what good matcha tastes like, but for someone who makes matcha lattes a few times a week, adagio is my go to supplier. A little bit of honey and some almond milk, after whisking the matcha in a bowl, is always delicious!
Gift for a matcha lover in my life. Just bought a sample for her would buy more in the future. She enjoyed it!
I haven't had other matchas to compare it to, but it seems to blend pretty well. The steep time on the side doesn't really mean much
I'm relatively inexperienced in the world of matcha, but I find this makes a good cup, and makes excellent matcha lattes.
I'll be the first to admit my matcha game is not strong and it took me a while to find the right way to make this delicious tea, I would recommend picking up a matcha set to really prepare this tea for the optimal taste.
**UPDATE
Ok, so I found out making matcha latte's in my Ninja makes them taste ah-mazing! Also found a great recipe for blueberry matcha smoothies in the morning so I've upgraded my rating from good to great!
Matcha isn't something I drink often, as it requires a lot of effort to prepare, but it is a treat I indulge in on weekends. This Matcha is nice because it doesn't overpower the Matcha with sweeteners, meaning you get to precisely control the sweetness. And adding sweetener is something I would recommend, because Matcha is quite bitter without it, and may turn you off from it if you start with it.
It’s just super Tea with long lasting aftertaste!
I'm no matcha expert, but the color is VIBRANT and the flavor is so delicate and delightful. It's my go-to early afternoon laté. It goes best with Oat Milk (I've tried it with Almond, Soy, Macadamia Milks, etc.) and a bit of maple syrup or honey. I didn't buy the mesh strainer at first, but I got all the other matcha tools sold here and I didn't realize how important sifting air into the matcha was. It makes it so much smoother - significantly less clumps when whisking. I recommend playing with how sweet you like it. My partner takes it with less sweetner than I.
This is a really excellent matcha for the price. It's always a good idea to sift it to remove clumps, but if you do, it mixes very smoothly and is mild and delicious. Highly recommended.
This matcha tea is the highest quality that I've tried. Highly recommend!
Most definitely the best. quality matcha I have ever purchased. Other matcha has a very bitter flavor to it, but this is heavenly regardless of how you use it. I’ve used this with just water, almond milk, soy milk and combinations of water and either milk and every time I am satisfied with the result, a delicious cup of matcha.
It's a good basic matcha, and I'll be getting more for sure. That said, the character 茶 is incorrect/flipped on the lid (although correct on the body of the tin) so like...maybe fix that as to not seem amateurish or insensitive for a tea company
I used this matcha to make green tea lattes. The taste and quality is amazing. I am very pleased with this purchase and will buy again.
Wasn’t expecting to love this as much as i did! Great with sweetened almond milk
Great product! I make iced matcha to start my day every day. Can't live without it
Love the traditional Matcha, Adagio is my favorite
Very smooth bold flavor. Just what i was looking for
Really good, but I am far from perfecting my matcha game, so I likely did not do it justice. It seems no matter how much I whisk to blend, the last sip is wet matcha powder.
While I'm not a fan of the bag they ship it in, it's a good product, good flavor and it mixed in nicely w/ a whisk.
got this for a friend as a christmas present! she loved it
This is a pretty decent matcha. I was used to Teavana so I needed to find a replacement. It tastes sweet without being overpowering.
