Matcha Customer Reviews

Only the finest, young, shade-grown gyokuro tea leaves are used to create matcha. The leaves are plucked and laid out flat to dry. Veins are removed and the leaves, now called tencha, are carefully ground in granite mills until they become the precious powder.

I prepared this in the traditional Matcha Tea ceremony fashion. 3-4g in 70ml of 170F water. I was disappointed at how bitter this tea was. It's not horrible tasting at all, but quality Matcha tea is definitely not bitter.

I am trying this tea for the first time. I have been using it for breakfast in my to-go tea bottle (which is really not how the recommendations suggest it should be used) for a couple of weeks. I also use a small amount of honey with it. I find that I like the mouth feel. it is almost as if there were cream. I generally use snowbud for my breakfast tea. This has significantly more flavor, but it is still gentle and light for the morning

★★★☆☆

Even though I followed the instructions for making the tea, either my water is wonky or something didn't work quite right but it was exceptionally thick, then it was too thin, then it go too thick again. I don't know. I'll try it again but it's not really my favorite.

this is my first time making matcha by making it myself...not bad for a beginner. very yummy!

★★★★☆

This feels kind of like drinking a vegetable. I'm still working out how to best prepare it, but my brother and I agree that it really perks us up after drinking. I seem to get a stomachache if I drink too much though.

★★★★☆

Such a rich beautiful green color! I also didn't realize it was ceremonial grade, so that was an added plus. I made cookies with it and they turned out OK.

Really strong. I would recommend being careful with how much powder you use. But otherwise it is delicious .

★★★★★

My new favorite,I'am hoping it will make me smarter!

There really has to be nothing better than the green vegetal taste of a Gyokuro leave, concentrated by grinding it into a powdered tea. The taste of the matcha is so good that I would drink this instead of ever steeping leaves again. Okay I'm just kidding. Nothing can stop me from drinking Gyokuro in any form.

While matcha isn't my favorite of the green teas, Adagio's is of great quality and a good value. Its great when i'm in a hurry and don't have time to brew some loose leaf. I just put a tsp in my tumbler, shake and go. Add some honey or stevia and you have yourself a healthy energy drink.

★★★★★

This matcha is absolutely delicious, and a great way to wake up in the morning. It also makes a really good latte when mixed with almond milk.

★★★☆☆

Not sure I feel much more energy than I did before drinking it.

I have never had mactha before yesterday (12/13/2014) and I have to say it's good. The powder itself is a rather vibrant and attractive green color. It's really fine and has no debris in it of any kind. As for mixing it, i lack a proper whisk for it, so i had to use my mini metal one. It did take a bit, but it was a pleasant and almost soothing experience. As for the finished tea, once I actually got the hang of mixing it, it was very pleasant to the taste. It was light, smooth and subtle. The color was even more vibrant than the powder! My sister put it perfectly, it looks like I melted the Grinch and put him in a cup! Definitely going to be one of those teas I frequently drink!

I have been a huge fan of matcha for a while now. When Adagio started selling it I couldn't have been happier. I managed to finally get my hands on a sample. Let me say I was not disappointed! It has a rich matcha flavor that I know and love. It's much better iced than hot in my opinion. I like how if you let it set for a bit, the flavor seems to grow even stronger. The only thing I would say that I disliked was the fact that the price is a bit much. Especially for the sample where there wasn't a lot for the price. Other than that the taste is defiantly quality.

★★★★☆

An enjoyable thick-bodied green tea. I wouldn't ever put more than one teaspoon. Sometimes I even put a little less than that...

★★★★☆

I'm still working on perfecting the making of this, but I do love the flavor and just the sense of calm that tends to come over you when you make/drink it. I'll work on my matcha making skills =) But I do love the whole process. And, from my research on matcha, Adagio offers a great price for this. I recommend highly!

★★★☆☆

This is a tea for serious traditional tea people. Im not personally a fan, but my brother loves it.

★★★★★

This is the best! I put it in my green smoothies in the morning-give you the added boost you need and adds a great flavor as well! LOVE!

★★★☆☆

I am not a good person to judge this tea. I have the bitter taste gene and this one hits that pretty hard. I will have a friend try it and get some feedback. That being said, It has a wonderful aroma, did not clump and infused perfectly with the hot water. I used the wisk and a matcha bowl.

★★★★★

I love getting tea in the mail! Made a cup today and this is absolutely wonderful. So besides being ridiculously easy to make, it has a beautiful vibrant green color. The taste is smooth and very much green tea but without that awful bitter taste. It has a creamy feel to it and I love it with some added milk. The price is very reasonable and the quality is totally worth it.

★★★★★

Another favorite. Great added into other teas or just on its own. I was afraid of this at first (hard to make and all) but after the demo at the store - the clerk put my fears at ease. Goes great with a more fruity tea added.

I'm not sure if I just got a bad bag or something, but this tea smelled, and tasted, like seaweed. It was awful.

This was my first experience with matcha. It was fine, but I'm not sure I would make a point of seeking it out again. It has a grassiness to the scent and taste.

★★★★★

Powerful grassy taste. Different brewing method than lose leaf tea which is an interesting experience.

★★★★★

This stuff is awesome. I like green tea, and this is like amped up green tea that's frothy and fun to mix and has a really full flavor. I even splurged for the bamboo whisk.

My only complaint is packaging. It's terrible in a ziplock bag, impossible to seal again if any of the powder gets in the zippers. I had to double bag it and stop trying to close the original packaging.

★★★★★

Great earthy, green tea. It's hard to get froth without the whisk, but still tastes fantastic.

★★★★☆

much like our tea guide told us, this tea is very 'vegetal'. it is not necessarily the best tasting tea on it's own, but feels very 'nourishing' and healthy. even though I don't love the flavor I very much enjoy making and drinking this tea.

★★★★★

Very good quality matcha. Very smooth and not bitter.

★★★★★

Delicious. Simple. Good at any temperature and sweetened with whatever you please.

I have only had this tea once so I can't honestly say that I have tried it enough to review it.

★★★★☆

It took me a few tries to actually get the hang of making matcha, but now I really enjoy it. At first, I brewed the tea with water that was too hot and it made it very bitter. The water should be hot but not boiling. I was worried it might just be the nature of matcha to be bitter, but after reviewing some matcha technique, I find the taste to be very smooth without being overpowering. However, I wish Adagio sold appropriately sized chawan!

★★★★★

A bright green color unlike so many others. I use it either with a flavored tea/herbal or mixed in a smoothee.

It's great for when you want a very grassy, sweet tea. Good quality for the price.

★★★★★

this tea not only gets me going in the morning, i find it also improves my mood!

★★★★☆

I'm still struggling to get it so I don't end up having a paste at the bottom of my cup, but it tastes amazing

★★★★★

I didn't really know what I would think of a powder but turns out I am really enjoying it.

★★★☆☆

Too strong 'spinach' flavor. This is definitely for the 'healthy' eater. Too hard for me to handle.

★★★★★

I was very excited to try this tea since I absolutely love the taste of Matcha when used in cooking. I have to say, I was not disappointed. This tea was very fragrant and had that lovely vegetal taste that is true to Matcha. Just opening the bag of this and smelling it, made me want to drink some and maybe even try cooking with it. Will be keeping this tea on the list for ones to rebuy!

I love this for a morning shake! Put in the blender with some almond milk and you have yourself a well-caffeinated breakfast smoothie.

★★★★☆

I blend brewed Matcha with my protein shake. provides nice energy boost with morning or afternoon shake.

★★★☆☆

need the little whisk for it, but the color and taste were fine. I think I'll use the rest in baking.

★★★★☆

Wonderful and inexpensive matcha, I have been using this as straight tea and in a lot of baking!

★★★★☆

The matcha was tasty. it did take some patience on my part to wait for it to dissolve.

★★★★★

Matcha is simply amazing. Adagio's matcha is wonderful, and I will definitely buy agian!

★★★★★

As a tea lover, it's always been a secret shame of mine that I've never tried matcha green tea. I finally took the plunge, and I'm so glad I did! This matcha is perfectly powdered and the proper 'bright green' color, and the taste was great. Smooth, not too mild, not too bitter - delicious! My only issue is that the bag is hard to re-close, but that's a minor thing. So glad I tried this!

★★★★★

Really good Green tea. Never tried Matcha before, liked instantly for its color and taste.

★★★★★

Tastes just like a Japanese teahouse. The flavour is clean and crisp, and an excellent follow-up to any meal. It also makes drinking green tea tasty, easy, and fun!

★★★★★

I'm still getting the hang of making my matcha lovely and foamy, but it's delicious. It's my new morning ritual.

★★★☆☆

This tea has the most incredible deep green color. It looks amazing. The flavor is super grassy .No matter what temperature I whisked at , the matcha always seemed to. come out slightly bitter. I also was not a fan of the chalky after note . Especially towards the end of the cup . I'm glad I tried this type of green tea . But probably will not be purchasing again .
