Matcha Customer Reviews

Only the finest, young, shade-grown gyokuro tea leaves are used to create matcha. The leaves are plucked and laid out flat to dry. Veins are removed and the leaves, now called tencha, are carefully ground in granite mills until they become the precious powder.

Grassy, GREEN taste. Takes a bit to get used to it but very good once you do. Big boost of energy from the caffeine and smoothed out by the l-theanine

I am an avid tea lover, always have been. Not many people know or heard of matcha tea unless you are a real enthusiast so this tea is not for everyone...but if you are...this is a very good example of Matcha tea. Delivered fresh and flavorful. When prepared properly you will know what I mean. If you are not a tea enthusiast (such as a friend of mine) they stated it tasted grassy and did not care for it.

I am normally a morning coffee drinker. I started drinking only one cup of matcha in the morning and don't even miss the coffee. I just bought my second can.

★★☆☆☆

Really unhappy with the packaging of this product. The bag is really hard to seal once the matcha gets into the closure, so I ended up with a green tea explosion. Didn't care for the tea either--very grassy, nothing special.

Confession: I'm somewhat new to matcha. As a sample, it is indeed worth trying, with one caveat for other somewhat-newbies to matcha like myself: if you don't like green tea lattes, I don't think this variety will work for you (without some patience and experimentation, that is). I myself prefer regular green tea of *any* variety -- all the varieties, all of them, give me all the green tea you have, bwa ha ha haaaaa -- ahem, so a 'latte' interpretation of green tea remains a bit of a mystery to me. I'll gladly take my black and flavored teas with any amount of sweetener and creamer, but green tea with these things just feels ... wrong-headed, somehow. That being said, Adagio's matcha was definitely fun to try. With time/cooling, it became a little smoother, more pleasant, and less vegetative. It is *also* really quite yummy if you enjoy it alongside a sweet dessert, since matcha pairs so well with sweets (ingredient-wise *and* flavor-wise). Treat it like an after-dinner cappuccino and you should be fine. Newbie out!

I drink Matcha tea daily and have tried many brands. Adagio Matcha is my favorite. Very smooth with great color and aroma. On auto-delivery plan. Cannot be without my Adagio Matcha

I like this quite a bit, as far as greens go this is a bit acrid(as in sharp and sour) flavor. Quite nice with cold takuan and sour plum onigiri.

You can really make this tea in a tea machine, you'll need to buy the special wisk to mix this tea.

★★★★★

This was something I've never tried and found it to have a great taste.

★★★★☆

Very smooth and almost creamy, but a little too 'green' for me. But it seemed very well made!

This was my first time trying matcha. I didn't know if I would like it so I got the sample size, but after trying it I can definitely see making this one of my staple drinks.

★★★★★

This matcha has is a great green color. I throw it in a blender with water and milk, then pour over ice for a quick morning drink.

★★★★☆

I like the earthy, slightly sweet flavor of a good quality matcha like this one. Not only does it taste delicious on its own, but it adds another layer of flavor and energy for drinks, shakes, and smoothies.

★★★★☆

Helpful tip for anyone looking to use matcha in a recipe: the sample size is .8oz (23g). I wish I had known it wasn't a full ounce before I ordered, because it is not enough for the matcha ice cream I had planned to use it for.

★★★★★

Smells amazing, tastes amazing. Just like being in a sushi bar.

★★★★★

This matcha is right up there with the best I've had. Sifts easily and the flavor is sweet. Not as grassy as other matcha I've had.

★★★★★

I've had Matcha tea before, and once I tried this after ordering it, this tea did not disappoint me. Not only that, but 1tablespoon of this powder can by chance make up to 10 cups, so it goes a very long way, especially with the health benefits it provides, as well as all those potent antioxidants in it.

★★★★☆

This is my first time trying matcha. The smell reminded me slightly of nori, perhaps because I recently had some. The taste was earthy, with a bitter aftertaste. The bitterness went away the more I drank it and it just became this nice, clean earthy taste, words I have never used to describe anything. The sample bag is kind of a pain to get the tea out of, but I certainly will be finishing it off.

I'm sure it's good matcha. I love the tea from this site but I'm just not a green tea fan, no matter how much I want to be

★★★★☆

It's not vibrantly green as the high quality matchas should have. But tastes good

Smooth, strong flavor that works to a nice quality froth with whisking.

This is the first matcha tea I have tried and I really like it! I've had a bunch of matcha flavored things and I expected it to be more similar. It's not as sweet as I thought it would be or as thick. I still like the consistency though. I've made it a couple of different ways now. I will say matcha makes me feel MUCH better than coffee does.

This is the first matcha I ever purchased and I'm really happy with it! It's a nice bright green (I've seen other ugly brownish matchas before) and it's very smooth. I plan on using it to make ice cream and other baked goods. It's a little pricey but I think it's worth it!

Great for smoothies. Works really well with vanilla almond milk.

★★★★★

Beautiful color. The tea has a smooth, earthy flavor. I drink it every morning and feel great and it's good for me. I no longer need my cup of coffee in the morning. It seems a little pricy, but worth it. With daily drinking one cup, the small size lasted about one month. I'm buying the large size now.

★★★★☆

Love the matcha tea. drink a cup every morning before work and one after. will be ordering some more. got the 2oz bag, kind of a pain getting it out when it gets low. will be getting a tin for next one.

Green is good! A ceremony in every cup! Drink to your health and please your palate!

★★★★★

Love this tea! I make it and pour it over ice on warm days. I love the smooth green tea flavor. It has actually replaced my morning cup of coffee and mid morning diet coke. It gives me energy but without the crash or feeling jittery.

★★★★★

I didn't think that this would be worth the cost but after going through a sample I can say that it is something I will be ordering a lot in the future. This matcha gave me a really good boost after consumption. It is a quite noticeable boost along with a nice earthy taste.

★★★★★

This matcha is a really good tasting cup of energy. I drink a cup almost every day and it helps me feel energized!

★★★★★

I like it very matcha! When prepared without a whisk, it tends to have some clumps in the bottom, but it's still delicious.

★★★★☆

Tried it twice. I like it with a little milk at night.

★★★★★

I have had Matcha before but have never tasted any as good as this.

Very smooth and not grassy like what I have had before

This was my first time trying the Adagio matcha tea. It was very good. I loved the bright green color and the taste. I added some cinnamon and flavored stevia and loved it! Will definitely order again

★★★★★

Very subtle green tea. It's fun to drink and perfect for an evening cup of tea.

Bought this after doing a tasting at the Naperville store. Decided to try it to see if it would help with my glucose levels. Oh my gosh! It has really made a difference. My doctor kept saying 'Wow' at my next appointment. And she said she doesn't say 'Wow' very often at work!! She expects me to be off of one of my medications soon! Update: I just realized a little over a week ago that I had not taken an allergy pill in a couple months. Since that is how long I've been drinking the Matcha daily I wondered if that was why. So last week I was busy and missed three days of drinking my daily cup of Matcha (first time I missed more than one day since I started drinking it) AND I had to take an allergy pill all three nights (time of the year for seasonal allergies!). I don't know for sure it's the Matcha, but it's a pretty big coincidence if it is not!

I really enjoyed it. I feel the difference right away.

I typically drink my teas with no sugar or sweeteners. This one was no different. The taste is bland, but drinkable. I try to drink about a cup of this a day and it seems to really be helping with my skin.

★★★★☆

It wasn't my favorite tea, but it was really good with chocolate truffles.

I can't stop bragging to people about the benefits of matcha. All day energy without the crash and without the shakes and indigestion that espresso can bring. I put matcha in fruit smoothies, creamy banana and almond milk shakes, and of course it's still awesome on its own.
