Only the finest, young, shade-grown gyokuro tea leaves are used to create matcha. The leaves are plucked and laid out flat to dry. Veins are removed and the leaves, now called tencha, are carefully ground in granite mills until they become the precious powder.

This is by far the best matcha I've had! Followed the recommended temp and time and I can't stop making matcha lattes!
This has become my 'always carry with' tea. I use this daily at home and in restaurants. I can add it to a cup of hot water or ice water for an excellent green tea drink. These are very rarely offered in restaurants and I have no shame when it comes to getting a good drink with a meal. The flavor is variable depending on how much you add. You can drink it light and bright or enjoy a darker deeper flavor. Both ways leave an excellent and soothing sweet Japanese green flavor.
Can someone please help me with how to make this tea? I put a couple of drops in the bottom and whipped it but I still had a bunch of chunks in the bottom. Did I not whip it enough?
I was a little hesitant to try this type of tea, but everything else I tried from Adagio was wonderful. This is really a great green tea. Plus you get the added benefits of the actual leaves.

I love this matcha and just ordered more. I bought the matcha set that also came with the whisk and bowl. I even got my husband stuck on this stuff instead of coffee!!
Not sure if I like this yet. It has a very strong 'freshly cut grass' smell. I am not a green tea fan so it may take a few tries before I like it. I definitely will need to add more sugar to it.
It was really grassy tasting but was ok with a bit of honey.

Absolutely delicious. The taste is stronger when hot, and a bit more tame when when made with iced water. I prefer to drink it plain and cold, especially when I'm in a hurry before work. But when I have enough time, preparing it with hot water is just as relaxing as drinking the tea itself.
This matcha is by far the prettiest I've had, as well as the most flavorful. Matcha can be very hit or miss for me. I dislike overly creamy matcha, but have found many just too bitter. This one strikes a good balance. I typically make it with hot milk.
Because this matcha is more flavorful, I found myself having to use less of it than other similar priced alternatives, so it is a great bang for your buck!
I mix this with hot soy milk and make green tea lattes! Way better than Starbucks and so simple!
This matcha is delicious! It mixes well and has a wonderful flavor. I have been drinking this in place of coffee in the morning and I feel better as coffee can make me jittery. I love the beautiful green color.
I used to like this Match and had auto delivery set up for it. Yet recently even with 15 off it does not make it worth ordering. The price went up again and the nice tin Adagio had switched too was replaced with the bag packaging again. I cancelled my auto delivery.
this tea has a very great quality comparing to it price and it test so good and creamy
This was absolutely fantastic. I would definitely buy it again. I haven't found another matcha that can match the flavor, or color of this one. If you're new to drinking matcha, learning how to whisk it right might be a bit tricky, but it's worth it for this matcha.
You're either really going to like the flavor of matcha or you're going to hate it. It's a little tangy for me.

I have tried many different matcha's and the Adagio matcha is by far the best. I drink it mixed with water, over ice. Even with no milk added, it has a bit of a creaminess to it. I also appreciate that Adagio offers it by the pound.

Love this! I use it in the morning with water, ice, and a bit of lemon juice in a mason jar. Shaking the mason jar with ice in it helps break up the matcha clumps, and it is so good!
I tried this for the first time ever last week. I have no comparison for this product--I've never had it at a tea shop or coffee shop. I followed the instructions, except I used the whisk I already had, a wire one. The taste is a combination of earthy, grassy, slightly spinach-y and even a bit of cocoa. The body of the liquid is surprisingly rich and creamy. I noticed that I felt alert, but not jumpy, and was able to write several pages of a boring paper without becoming drowsy, even though it was late into the night. Afterwards, I slept even better than usual (time from tea to sleep was about 5 hours). I will drink this again and use this as my after work homework buddy. I think some people might need sweetener or to mix it with other flavors initially because it truly is intense, but this is something I appreciate about it. I love adagio for introducing me to different experiences and I think I might go for the whisk and even try the uji if I continue to enjoy the benefits. I'd like to know exactly where this tea is grown, because some matchas have been found to have elevated levels of lead in them, even organic matchas, due to lead toxins leaching into the soils. If adagio could address this question, I would be most appreciative.
I read the reviews of everyone praising matcha and just had to try it for myself. This tea is an instant pick-me-up. whenever I'm starting to feel slow and I need to keep on the go at school or at work, I drink a cup of matcha and I'm ready to go! Matcha also helps with my chronic headaches and overall just makes me feel healthy and energized. I recommend adding a little sugar to this tea if you're not accustomed to matcha's unique, almost spinach-y taste.
This is the real deal folks, don't settle for anything less. Wonderful and traditional, an improvement to my day.
I have bought this matcha twice. In between I bought another brand. The matcha sold on Adagio is clearly richer, greener and better tasting. The other was a much lighter green. Now this is the only matcha I would buy. Please keep up the quality.

This is the first matcha that I've bought to make myself at home, so take this as a newbie review. I am still learning how to best prepare it, but I'm enjoying it. It's got a pronounced vegetal flavor, as is to be expected, and I prefer it frothy, because that texture elevates the flavor and takes out some of the astringency. It is best prepared in small quantities.
I used to buy this online from amazon through a different company...this tea is much better! It is worth every penny
Wow this stuff is actually magic. It's so chock full of antioxidants that I just can't believe it. I've noticed an improvement in my energy and focus, not to mention that my skin looks great. Matcha is so versatile too, and I love making smoothies with matcha, almond milk, and banana. And because it's a powder I don't have to deal with throwing away old leaves.
Not the best matcha I have had but very good for the price. Dissolves very easily and does not require it to be sieved which is a definite plus. I got 36 servings out of it for a total cost of $0.67 per serving. I strongly recommend it for beginners wanting to embark on the matcha experience.

The matcha tasted so fresh! I've had other matcha teas that were bitter and left a bitter aftertaste, but Adagio's matcha had a clean finish and was easy to drink. Not to mention, the powder is easier to dissolve. I was able to make matcha tea using a regular spoon and didn't have nearly as many clumps and gritty residue as I get from other brands.
Matcha, matcha, matcha! You can't go wrong with this superfood. Use it as a regular tea or add some milk alternative to make a frothy treat with crushed ice. This can also be used to sprinkle on dried fruit to add an herby kick. Very comparable to other high quality matcha I've tried, but at a reduced cost.
This is the first matcha I have bought to make at home. It creates a wonderful matcha latte and seems to be of great quality as I expect from Adagio.
This tea is certainly an energizer! Once I master the proper brewing technique, it will definitely be a 5*. Getting it completely stirred in is my sticking point.

I always try to keep my expectations low for matcha because SO many are available online that are awful. This one was lovely though, there's clearly plenty of umami to keep it smooth and delicious without bitterness. Really happy with this.
