My first attempt was a little bitter, but that is likely due to water temperature and inappropriate prep tools. I'll keep trying!
Only the finest, young, shade-grown gyokuro tea leaves are used to create matcha. The leaves are plucked and laid out flat to dry. Veins are removed and the leaves, now called tencha, are carefully ground in granite mills until they become the precious powder.

My first attempt was a little bitter, but that is likely due to water temperature and inappropriate prep tools. I'll keep trying!
Excellent Matcha flavor. Easy to make and the health benefits are excellent. I have actually noted a performance benefit while cycling over 18 miles. The container has a loose lid, so be careful when opening.
Smooth and gives a focused energy no gitters. No sugar or cream needed. Great on its own
It was more bitter than I was expecting, so I have found it's a good additive to smoothies.
This tea is beyond quality compared to the ones I've seen online. It's green and rich in flavor. It helps me jump start my day before work and I do believe its benefits is helping me lose some weight. Add almond milk (not milk) to give it more flavor! I would recommend to anyone!
Strong. Pain in the butt to make correctly, and for the sake of a very bitter flavor, you must make it correctly. I feel like if I went out and bought twenty bucks worth of matcha making supplies, I could turn out a good cup, but with a spoon and a cup, not so easy. I'll stick with my tea.
Caveat: Flavor is great if made correctly, just too much work to make a cup.
This was my first experience with Matcha. It's interesting and super strong. Would definitely recommend if you need a pick me up!
I'm pretty sure that I added a bit too much powder to my first cup! Or not enough water, so my first cup wound up VERY strong. I like the taste though, and I'm enjoying it so far!
Love it! Matcha is a classic flavor, and I'm glad to know I can buy such high quality online!
I fell in love with first sip. Lisa introduced me to it in the shop and it was an easy sell.
I haven't tried the ceremonial quality of this stuff, so I'm not able to compare this to that. But this is a very tasty tea that is excellent for hot or cold tea AND for mixing into smoothies.
Very good matcha and at a decent price point, too. The container that it comes in is not only very functional, but very attractive as well. I will be sure to repurchase from Adagio!
I love me some matcha. Nice and grassy. Great for a latte with a little sugar.
Have tried a lot of matcha green teas and this has a great flavor and seems to be a better flavored one!
Very good matcha. It can come off very strong if you use too much though.
This is the first matcha I've tried that wasn't made with milk and sugar, so I'm not sure how it compares to others. I added a teaspoon to half of a coffee mug worth of water.
It has a little more bitterness than I expected but is somehow sweet on the back of the tongue. The texture is an excellent sort of creamy frothiness - not at all watery. The powder is a nice vibrant green with no yellowness present. I absolutely recommend giving it a try.
I used it in smoothies and sometimes in my normal green tea.
I like the flavor. I always end up with sediment in the cup. Probably should buy traditional a wooden cup and whisk.
Excellent flavor and texture. Will definitely be buying more.
This is the first time I've tried making matcha myself and I'm already totally addicted. I drink it every morning now, and just ordered two more tins. I generally drink it as a latte, brewed for 3 minutes with 1/4 cup of water while I warm up 3/4 cup of milk. Then I add the milk, and a half teaspoon of honey. It's totally delicious.
First time enjoying matcha, was wary of steep price but very glad I went forward and purchased it. Delicious high quality tea, that I've been making Matcha Lattes with.
I have a bowl of matcha every morning before work. The taste takes a little getting used to, especially if you don't add enough water. Prepared correctly though, it's pretty good.
I take it with a breakfast of fruit and Greek yogurt. the sweet helps offset the slightly bitter undertone of the matcha.
Having tried some matchas from other locations, I can firmly say that Adagio is the best one I've tasted. By comparison, other matchas have proven grainy and bitter. I was hoping to find a less expensive alternative but found my way back to Adagio's matcha when none of the others I tried could compare.
Actual perfection. I adore ordering Matcha at tea shops, I don't know why I waited so long to order it from Adagio to make at home! So good.
Just what I want from a matcha. A little difficult to prepare (as all matcha is), but worth it.
Good. Best if you get the proper brewing set.
Delicious. My favorite.
An acquired taste, but not horrible. A little raw honey and it's pretty darn good.
My mom recently had a stroke and with that she lost alot of her energy and would get dizzy within a few minutes of walking. Two days of her ingesting this tea and she got a substantial amount of energy back and her dizziness decreased greatly. Thank you guys sooooooo much, your teas wokred wonders.
This is a fantastic matcha. Previously, I have purchased matcha at the local Japanese grocery, and it was okay, but this matcha has much better color and (I think) better taste. It tastes fresher and grassier than other matcha's I have had. And as another reviewer noted, it foams wonderfully (which I can't say about the others I've used in the past). I have only prepared this as a traditional matcha... have not tried the matcha lattes or anything... but I'm not sure it needs anything else, as it is just wonderful all by itself.
I usually get my matcha directly from Japan when I go over there but when I am in a pinch I get this stuff. It is pretty top notch stuff! I think I might just stick with getting this matcha from now on. It's bright green and brings me back to Japan with each sip. To bring it up a notch, add a teaspoon of local honey and then pour over a cup of ice. Sip and repeat!
I still have trouble getting the right amount of matcha in a bowl. But the taste is very fresh and I sometimes eat it as it is sprinkled on cookies!
I love my matcha tea! I was concerned at first if I would be able to drink. matcha tea because caffeine usually makes me feel terrible. I was so excited with the matcha tea - the caffeine does not bother me at all! I brew the matcha tea and then add water and ice with a little honey! Delicious!!! Really enjoy it and excited about the health benefits!
Yum, this matcha is good! I'm not that big of a matcha person and this has taken some getting used to. There was a lot of powder outside of the tin when it arrived. the tape on the outside wasn't as strong as it should have been.
Blended with vanilla almond milk for a green tea latte.
This was my first time trying matcha, and I was not disappointed! The powder is very finely ground and dissolves nicely in the hot water, and the taste is absolutely phenomenal.
Admittedly, the more of these I write, the more points I get---and I'm all about that free tea.
Even so, I went into this expecting the same experience I had with what I thought was a decent grade of matcha. I was wrong in the best way possible. This matcha is SILKY smooth, grassy, and invigorating, slightly vegetal, but mild. I wouldn't use this in baking except in a frosting---it's rather delicate in flavor and could be easily drowned out otherwise. Still, easily the best cup of matcha I've had to date. No grittiness whatsoever.
I tried this as recommended with the whisk, couldn't drink it -- tasted just awful. Then I tried a teaspoonful in a smoothie with fruit, yogurt and Stevia -- the whole smoothie tasted like Matcha -- must be an acquired taste -- not for me!
I make my matcha using a bowl and wisk.Whisk till foamy and it taste amazing.
Good tea for metabolism. It also controls hunger when you add to smoothies
not the best matcha i've ever had but not the worst either
At the recommendation of a friend, I bought this to make iced matcha lattes and let me tell you they are FANTASTIC, a perfect, refreshing pick-me-up in the morning. A tsp of matcha, a cup of soy milk, a drizzle of honey, shake with ice, done! Yummmm!
Nice earthy taste. Mixes nicely with matcha brush bought with tea.
This tea was okay but it upset my stomach when I drank it and I wasn't able to finish it.
Good flavor, blends well. Loved drinking it straight and also in smoothy.
What a delicacy...Very special green tea for after dinner. JUST ORDER MORE FOR THE HEALTH BENEFITS
This tea is great I love it, it has a wonderful tast and is packed with energy. It is truly in a class of its own.
It isn't the best tasting tea but you can tell how healthy it is for you
Great taste, great kick of caffeine! Completely replaced my morning coffee.
Ooh, this was lovely. I'm a bit of a reluctant tea addict, so I preferred this sweetened with about a teaspoon of sugar, but the flavor of the matcha itself was still really good. If subjected to too much heat, it can be bitter, so be careful about that. I drank it as an iced latte, subbing cold milk for the water (1 c milk to 1 tsp matcha, plus a generous amount of ice), mostly as a good source of caffeine in the morning. It made my commute just a touch more pleasant. I went through the sample baggie pretty quickly. If you know you like matcha, I suggest just getting the tin. The lid's a bit loose, so don't put it somewhere it'll get knocked around and maybe open the plastic it's shipped in over the sink, but it'll last you longer, and you won't waste that little bit you'll never get out of the baggie no matter how much you try. Plus it's just really good matcha at a better price than most other reputable retailers, so why not?
