Matcha Customer Reviews

Only the finest, young, shade-grown gyokuro tea leaves are used to create matcha. The leaves are plucked and laid out flat to dry. Veins are removed and the leaves, now called tencha, are carefully ground in granite mills until they become the precious powder.

★★★★★

High grade, very good quality matcha - I prefer it on its own but if drinking matcha lattes, I love it with coconut milk as I feel that dairy overpowers the subtle flavors.

★★★★★

I have wanted to try matcha for a very long time . My 1st cup tasted like seaweed and smelled like a dirty fish aquarium but I chugged it down . My 2nd cup tasted exactly like my 1st cup . My 3rd cup I made into a matcha latte, with a little vanilla, brown sugar and cream now I'm addicted. Who knew you could love seaweed and dirty fish aquarium latte so much.

★★★★★

A robust, flavorful matcha at a great price. I have had matcha that I disliked in the past--too bitter, too tomato-like, etc.--but this has a great flavor and a beautiful color, especially for the price.

I'm learning how this tea works. I love the ritual of sifting, blending, whisking & pouring. A little goes a long way, my first few cups I made using too much powder, but I'm happy with every cup now. And the color, talk about Spring Green.

★★★★★

Incredible taste, incredible benefits. I've successfully kicked my coffee habit thanks to this quality matcha. Mix with raw honey, and a tablespoon of virgin coconut oil to this tea for a delicious velvet-smooth drink with great health benefits.

★★★★★

this is only the second matcha i have ever tried. i was put off by the first one i tried and almost decided i didn't like matcha. but after reading the reviews on Adagio's matcha i decided to give it a try...and i like it, it definitely take some experimenting to get it to my taste, but this matcha is workable :)

Smooth, not gritty and not bitter. I only buy matcha from Adagio and I have tried over 5 different brands.

★★☆☆☆

This was the first time I tried this type of tea, so I just got a sample size. It tasted like I was drinking lawn clippings. Maybe I brewed it wrong?

★★★★★

This was my first matcha, but I loved the buttery flavor and grassy aromas.

★★★★★

Best price for good Matcha i can find. Great flavor. took some practice to make properly, learn the correct way, it's worth it.

Took a few tries before I managed to get this to turn out right, but now that I have I can't wait to dive into the other Matcha teas!

★★★★☆

For me, the tea represented my time in Japan, which I really enjoyed, and the cultural piece of drinking this tea was my favorite part. It is otherwise pleasant among the green teas, and also makes good baked goods.

★★★★★

Bright green, not bitter, makes a great traditional matcha tea and makes a great matcha tea latte.

★★★★★

This original matcha powder is delightful to drink in the afternoon. If I could only give up my morning cup of 'Joe'...

What a treat to get such a good quality Matcha. I have not experienced this before and my first cup was a little strong, but I have since read about proper preparation and have been enjoying a very green but not bitter tea. I sometimes mix this in with my protein shakes for extra benefits.

★★★★★

Incredibly rich and flavorful! Not weak or bland, like some grocery store brands. Best quality Matcha for a great price, in my opinion.

★★★★★

I was really impressed with this tea. Even my non-tea drinking roommate enjoyed a cup!

★★★★★

This matcha is smooth and so bright green! I made some into a latte with a slight amount of sugar for a couple of people that swore they hate matcha. They both loved it.

★★★★★

I've had matcha in drinks before, but it does not compare to the real stuff! It is super green and tastes amazing! I will say that I used a full teaspoon the first time, and it makes it super strong. While I love super strong flavors, it's just too much when it comes to matcha. Half a teaspoon works just fine! I bought the whisk and bowl to go with it, and it made it so much better! If you don't want to shell out the money, use a wooden spoon to stir it. Trust me, it makes all the difference.

★★★★☆

This was my first time trying matcha! I expected to not be in love with the flavor, as I ordinarily do not like the flavor of green tea. I made it into a latte, added a packet of stevia and it was really pretty good. I liked the flavor ones better but I think that's because I am a 'newbie' to matcha and I need to play around with my recipes. I ordered the higher quality matcha to try next time. Also, I watched a youtube video for matcha latte with added 'roasted soybean flour,' which is supposed to give it a nutty flavor. I think I may try that for sure!

Have always wanted to try Matcha tea & I had read good reviews here. It is a very earthy tea. I enjoyed it & thought it was good but I would not say it's my favorite tea.

★★★★☆

This is a huge hit with my friends - and what a caffeine boost! One cup will get you up and moving all morning.

★★★★★

I love Matcha flavored things so I decided to finally buy some tea. It didn't disappoint. Nice grassy taste and mildly sweet.

★★★★★

I love matcha and this one is very good. Quality is great and flavor.

★★★★★

Absolutely delicious, even better than the matcha over ice from Starbucks. I will be ordering again. So yummy and the rich flavor is mesmerizing

★★★★☆

This is our first experience with match so we dont know how well we are doing. We watched several videos on how to make traditional matcha. We havent tried a latte yet. Some prep instructions would have been helpful on the bag.

A bit grassy for my taste. Also not sure that we are preparing it properly.

★★★★★

works really well for making my own green tea lattes

★★★★☆

Smooth, mellow flavor. I love this in a yogurt smoothie!

★★★★★

This is one of my favorite teas. Slightly sweet grassy flavor that isn't bitter. It's my go-to. I love that you can mix it up quickly and the caffeine doesn't leave you jittery.

★★★★☆

This is so different than my usual tea ritual! I like it, but it will take some getting used to to bust out the whisk instead of just the hot water.

★★★★★

very nice! It took me a while to get used to preparing, and appreciating this but I'm a fan now.

★★★★★

This matcha tea is awesome. The flavor is really nice and rich.

★★★★☆

Not the best matcha I had, but it still tastes pretty good.

★★★★★

A wonderful light delicious green tea! I drink this every morning! Love the taste!

Not like any other teas I've tried. Complex an flavourful but overwhelming.

Definitely a strong green tea flavor, as expected. I found it very refreshing. I made a cup when I got home from work, and it seemed to energize me through the evening, but I had no trouble falling asleep when the time came. I will be buying more of this one!

Update: I've been putting about half a teaspoon of matcha in my fruit smoothies for breakfast and it seems to give me a long morning boost without really affecting the flavor of the smoothie.

★★★★☆

I I love all the matcha teas. I bought my bowl and wisk from Adaigo also.
The risk is a necessity. The flavored matcha has no clumps. it has a smooth sweet taste. it foams up. And now I'm sleeping again at night after at least 6 years of tossing and turning!!

I'll start by saying I'm a black tea drinker, and I drink it like I'm British: strong, dark, with a touch of milk and sweetener. So this is really branching out for me! I had to experiment a few times with preparation, but I've finally found something that I like: I sift the powder (using my over-the-cup tea strainer which is a really fine mesh), add about 1.5-2 ounces of water heated to 170F (electric tea kettle!), and whisk with my battery-powered 'milk frother' (aerolatte? I usually use it for hot chocolate). I add a bit of sugar (honey didn't work with the flavor) and a dash of vanilla, then fill the cup with pre-warmed milk. It sounds involved but it's not really, by the time the water has reached temperature I've already warmed the milk and sifted the tea. I use the 1 tsp per cup recommended on the package. It's quite good, but I can't think of it as 'tea' because I almost exclusively drink black tea!

★★★★★

I love this matcha! I used to use Teavanna's which is more expensive for less. This tastes just as great, if not better. Definitely recommend it!

★★☆☆☆

Matcha is not for me, unfortunately. I'm a fan of green tea, but the earthiness of matcha is a bit too much for my taste. Glad I only bought a sample.

★★★★★

This is an excellent plain matcha. It's a bit expensive so I only buy it once in a while, but the superior quality definitely makes it worth buying over cheaper matchas. I usually make it with 1/2 a teaspoon of matcha and 6oz of water.

I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. While this isn't my favorite tea I do drink this like most Americans drink coffee in the morning and I do feel better afterwords. Not sure why but it works.

★★★★★

I have not tried many matcha teas but I did really enjoy this one. It mix really well, even though I do not have a matcha whisk.

★★★★☆

It was great to try something completely new, make sure you read up how to prepare properly.

★★★★★

This is a different kind of tea, I love it! The war you make it and the cute bowl to drink from. I bought the sample and can't wait to get more. One of my top favorite green teas. Highly recommend.

★☆☆☆☆

I am not a fan of this matcha. The consistency is too fine to whisk smoothly (without clumps of sediment forming soon thereafter) or brew in a teapot/press (tried all three methods, as well as blending it raw). Similarly, the consistency is much too fine to sell in a sealing bag (a tin would be better), as it's difficult to scoop out and particles of the tea get stuck in the bag seal. The flavor is very bitter, almost repugnant to the point that I had to add two teaspoons of honey per cup just to bare it and not feel like I wasted so much money on the product. Lastly, this tea often makes me feel nauseous and anxious. A friend of mine vomited shortly after having a cup made with one teaspoon. I will never purchase this tea from Adagio again, and cannot recommend it to others. It pales in comparison to other high quality match tea/products I've tasted. After many years of drinking tea from Adagio, this is one that I truly regret buying.
