I prefer toasted mate over non toasted mate. I like to use this for blends.
Brazilian toasted mate with a mellower, yet full-bodied character. Toasty, with a comforting chicory note, and hints of tobacco.

I prefer toasted mate over non toasted mate. I like to use this for blends.
A new favorite! Earthy, nutty, smooth. Almost like drinking a beer or coffee instead of tea, but comforting and warm. If you have every other tea this is the perfect way to shake things up!
I fairly good mate blend, however, I prefer the Mocha blend
I gave this one another go, first try it was too mild. I'm either brewing it differently or they've roasted it a little darker. Has the roasted like coco coffee hint and it's always in my cupboard now.
I enjoy a cup or two of the toasted mate in the morning and bring it with me to work. It has a nice nutty, earthy flavor to it which I enjoy.
I love coffee, so I was immediately drawn to this tea. However, it disappointed me a little bit. I do like earthy teas, but this one was almost too earthy. Be carefully not to steep it too long or at too high a temperature, or it will venture into burnt grass / dirt territory.
Definitely a different taste to this one. Was not fond of it at all. I'm not sure how to describe the taste but it is not one that I would want to drink again.
Not as nutty as I would like my mate to be. I had it hot with almond milk and stevia. Still pretty good
Purchase this for a friend. She really likes it and said she would order it for herself.
A lovely tea for when I want a caffeine boost! I prefer drinking this straight. It's nutty, and a fairly strong flavor. If you brew this at a higher temp it's even stronger.
This was the first mate I've tried, it's interesting. I'll be trying this again. And may update this later.
This was my first taste on a yerbamate tea. It's very strong and does not need to be steeped for very long. Im not the biggest fan, but fans should try it.
I'm new to mate and trying different brands and blends. I'm sure it's just like tea - everyone has different preferences. I prefer toasted mate but this one is not my favorite. It's not bad - it's just ok. If you order it, be aware that it is extremely finely ground and a whole bunch of it passes right through my usual tea strainer - which I use all the time for rooibos with no problems. I brew it in a pot and pour off the top or use a paper filter - I haven't graduated to the gourd and bombilla. I would definitely recommend it's cousin, the mocha nut mate, though - what a treat!
I have never tried mate before and this one was my first. I prepare it as a regular tea - in a teapot and I like the taste - deep not too bitter. This tea is a perfect substitution for my afternoon cup of coffe.
I like this once in awhile for a change, nice mellow nutty flavor.
Really pleasant flavor, not the grassy taste I'm used to with yerba mate. I really am glad I ordered this to give mate another try.
When I want a bit of caffeine in the morning to get me going, this is my favorite. Wakes me up without the jitters of coffee or black tea. Absolutely delicious with a splash of vanilla soy milk.
A nice flavor, but I just may not be a mate kind of guy.
If I'm not in the mocha mate flavor this is definitely a go to!!
Strong, full-flavored with a hint of chocolate. My initial trial was when I was feeling a tad drowsy and it perked me up fairly quickly.
I've been drinking regular Yerba Mate for a few months, but as soon as I finish up my stash, I'll be switching to Toasted Mate. I absolutely love the nutty, rich flavor of this, and it blends very well with other flavored teas. I really like blending it with Honeybush Hazelnut and Honeybush Chocolate. This is definitely going to be my go-to morning drink.
I didn't feel this was as similar to coffee as expected, but I still enjoy it.
I really love this tea! It's nutty, and really 'hearty' tasting. It's almost like a roasted, nutty coffee. It blends well, too.
I'm not a huge mate fan but this was actually pretty great!
I'd probably buy more if it were in a tea bag ready to go.
I'm new to mate but enjoyed this. Very finely ground, with a certain smokiness. The scent and flavor reminded me of tobacco almost. Very distinct. This is also incredibly caffeinated and left me a little jittery. Enjoyable but not for me.
Just as the name implies, it has a delicate toasty flavor. A very well rounded tea that thrived with a pinch of sugar. I wouldn't recommend trying to get a second brew out of this one, it will work in a sense, but won't pack the punch of the first one.
I love mixing this with my various honeybush and rooibos flavors for a nice smooth wakeup in the morning. It's grown to be my favorite blender, since it's not overly strong by itself.
I have really found that I enjoy the mate teas. Nice nutty flavor
Delicious mate! I am also using this to brew Kombucha and it is turning out very well.
I am not a fan of this tea, it requires so much sugar for me.
As a former coffee addict, this has a rich flavor that makes me glad i kicked the coffee habit.
I discovered toasted mate a few years ago and fell in love with its unique flavor. Since then, I've preferred the toasted version over its original form. I don't think you'd turn back either!
This was a little harder to brew because of the size of the grains, but I really enjoyed the flavor.
I did not enjoy this mate as much as the Yerba and Mocha Nut, it was okay though, not a huge fan.
It reminds me of Lapsang Souchong, but decaf. There is a certain distinct smokiness. I can't say it is bad. I just don't have the desire to finish the sampler. Not my 'cup of tea'. I would say that if I liked Souchong so much that I needed some way to reduce the amount of caffeine I was taking in daily because I've developed an eye twitch, then I would consider this as a replacement.
Earthy aftertaste. First sip is robust. Takes some getting used to.
I prepared it according to the directions, but I just didn't like it. I had heard so many people rave about it and thought I would love it, but I didn't. So I threw it away. This was my first and only time to try yerba mate.
Much more mellow than standard yerba mate. Has a very pleasing roasted flavor almost like chicory with a hint of tobacco, with enough caffeine to get you going.
A great nutty flavor to this mate. I added a splash of cinnamon while I steeped it and then some almond milk at the end and it was delicious! It is also really good on it's own, but I like to give myself fancy treats in the winter.
This tea is amazing. It's got the nice leafy taste of regular mate, but it has a toasty flavor reminiscent of coffee. Definitely ordering more.
I wish I had tried this before buying. Definitely not as smooth as the oolong I usually buy buy it was an interesting new flavor.
I think this tastes the best without any mixing with other teas. it does have a noticeable tobacco note that some may love but I do feel a little weird if other people can smell it from my thermos (like 'why do you have a cigar in your boiling hot water my friend'?). However it does hit a toasty coffee-esque spot and it's not nearly as sour or bitter on the tongue like coffee is, and I don't get the same crazy jitters and crash from coffee nor do I have to rely on milk when I have this, so it has it's advantages.
IMO this tastes the best when warm and is very unpleasant when cooled. Also, use a very fine strainer (or paper filters) when brewing this tea, or else there will be very fine sediment from the crushed mate leaves that end up tickling your throat rather unpleasantly when you get to the bottom of the cup.
As they say, I have to say
This is not my cup of tea..
I feel this one is hard to brew right not to have it taste bitter. That may just be the notes this tea is going for, but for me, it isn't something I cared for.
Almost like a chai tea mate
Excellent. Never had it toasted before. Instructions said 3 mins at 150 but I always thought it should be just under boiling for 8 minutes so that's what I did. Mate doesn't seem to ever get oversteeped, just stronger, so with a bit of honey this becomes very flavorful.
It tastes a bit harsher than the other mates I have tried.
This is my main stay of all teas. Not being a coffee drinker this is my coffee. I pretty much have this every day. I like it very strong. I will make an entire pot and first drink it hot and later in the day will drink it cold. It taste great re-heated, iced or adding extras to it if you need sugar or cream. If you are looking for a coffee replacement I suggest trying this. The flavor is consistant. I am never disappointed. If you are looking for that coffee replacement this may be the one for you. It sure is for me...Also this mate is good if you mix it with other mates according to your personal taste. I have turned many people on to this tea that are trying not to drink coffe and they love it but it has to be toasted.
I prefer toasted to plain mate. It's got a rich wonderful flavor and mixes well with flavored black tea for an almost coffee-like taste. Try it with hazlenut!
