It's good, but not as vegetal as I was hoping, and the mocha nut is far superior
The toasted mate seems like an acquired taste. I'm not sure how much I'll be reaching for this one, but it's got a nice, robust flavor that I wasn't expecting.

I love all things classic Mate so I wasn’t sure if I’d like this toasted version at first but I loved it! It’s warming and nutty and does not have any of the usual taste of a Mate that some may not care for. I can’t wait to see what combinations of tea I can pair it with!

The first couple sips, all I could taste was grass and dirt. Then after a few more sips, I got a smooth wood taste, and all I can say is... this is some excellent tea: velvety, hearty, and flavorful enough to drink on its own.
I love this as an alternative to coffee -- it has the richness of a coffee with cream, minus the calories and (some of the) caffeine!

My favorite kind of Mate to date! Got the earthyness without being grassy and it has a nice smoky note to boot.
toasty and delicious. Makes a nice coffee substitute. Lots of caffeine, but not a jittery caffeine high like coffee gives.

I wouldn’t say this is a substitute for coffee, but it does have a nice smoky flavor and plenty of caffeine umph! A great morning cup to get you going for the day!

This was my first experience with mate. I was immediately interested in this upon reading that it was a nice alternative to coffee in that you get a nice brewed/toasty flavor and a caffeine fix. My stomach has become a bit sensitive lately and while I still drink coffee, I find that coffee seems to irritate my system a little. So this particular flavor got my attention.
The flavor is hard to describe as anything other than 'toasty,' so I guess it lives up to its name! I really did like it a lot. It has a unique flavor (as tea in general, not specifically as mate because I have never tried mate before this), it's robust and it definitely wakes me up in the morning. My only complaint is that this tea is extremely fine and will fall out of a tea infuser like crazy! I personally don't mind bits of tea floating in my mug, but I know some folks do. So just a heads up that you will get bits of leaves in your tea, but personally, I think it's worth the hassle and the tea debris. I know I'll be trying more of the mate selections here now!
Very nice. I like this a lot better than the green mate. It can make a nice breakfast tea. Yerba mate was better for the afternoon.
After sampling them all, I prefer the Citrus mate because it's reminiscent of the Citron green, same flavoring. I think I like the original Yerba over the toasted--it has mild multi coffee notes that you would find in a porter / brown ale but I like my mate on the golden scale
I really like the nutty taste and smoothness of this tea. Just getting to know the mate teas and wasn’t sure if I was going to like them but glad I gave them a try. I have even gone back for more on a few.
Taste: awesome. No fancy shenanigans with mocha and mango (both of which I still love)! HOWEVER, I don't know how to stop the little leaves from falling out of the tea ball and sticking to the rim of the mug. Anybody any ideas?

Full, rich flavor. Toasty with a finish that reminded me of water chestnuts. Surprisingly, no bitterness whatsoever. Excellent choice if you're looking to replace your morning cup of coffee with a cup of tea.
This tea was nice. it wasnt my favorite the flavor is rather basic and the grind is so fine that it inevitably slips out of my steeper every time.
Good base in place of coffee in the morning. But I do prefer the mocha nut version.
We ordered this to try, since it said it was a good alternative to coffee. Not a bad tea, just not as great as others we have had! Definitely good for the caffeine though!

This has been my first experience with Yerbe Mate. Let me tell you, I'm blown away. I think this will become my new favorite go-to drink. Nutty and somewhat fruity. It's delicious.
This is my first time tasting the toasted mate and I couldn't be happier! I was surprised how much I liked it and I know I will be ordering more in the future!

I was a bit afraid of this tea initially. It has a lot going on. It's smokey, sweet and slightly leathery without any flavour overpowering. I never tried mate before, but this is surely a winner.
Not for the non-mate initiated, but for those who already like the flavor, it's a nice, toasty comfort tea with a mellow but powerful flavor.
The toasted blend has less of the tobacco taste, strangely enough. I prefer it to the regular mate, but it can be overpowering. A 1:1 blend of Toasted to Regular works really well.
This tea is ridiculously good - I drink two cups per morning when I can - its toasted flavor makes it comparable to coffee, but without the acidity - if you like a flavorful, brew buy it!
Oaky and energizing. I'd tried and liked the mocha nut mate and decided to try this one, too. They have very similar flavours and I couldn't name a huge difference between them...but they're both delicious!
My husband's favorite tea. He drinks it instead of coffee. It's great with a little honey.
A great coffee substitute in the morning because of the caffeine content. A little bit difficult to steep because water that is too hot will make it bitter.
It didn't have as much flavor as I thought it would, but it wasn't bad.
This tea is a little bit weird. I didn't know at all what to expect when I ordered it, so it was kind of a 'nothing ventured, nothing gained' purchase. The tea has a bit of a sweet taste (though I do drink my tea with sugar), but overall it sort of reminded me of--you're going to think this is weird--it sort of reminded me of seaweed. BUT, it wasn't like gross fish-smelling seaweed, just subtle and not at all unpleasant. That's the only way I can think to describe it. This tea does well in blends, though. It adds a nice level of flavor, but is just...weird...on its own. Not bad...but weird.

I really liked this! I hadn't liked the smell of it when i opened the package but once i brewed it it smelled so good! Definetly smells and tastes like a light coffee.
I really like this tea. It has the strong full body like coffee but none of the side effects from caffeine or bitter aftertaste.
Personally not my favorite mate tea as I like a little more flavor, but this is a good coffee replacement for the morning.
I need to start moving away from relying so heavily on coffee, and so someone suggested toasted mate. I was really skeptical, since I like my coffee black and enjoy really roasty, dark flavors... but this was lovely! The energy fix was far kinder to me than coffee is and I loved the taste.
Wonderful, rich, toasty, almost beany-tasting. Very smooth with milk.
I love this stuff. By itself, it tastes amazing; but I love mixing it with black tea (one teaspoon each.) It's a good mix if you ever need to wake up really fast (or sleep, if you're like me and caffeine works in reverse. ;) )
My partners really love it, I think this one is great for anyone that likes coffee.
