This tea tastes a lot like a weak black coffee. I personally love coffee, so I don't mind the flavor, but I don't think I necessarily want that flavor in a tea. Overall it's not a bad tea, especially with a splash of cream!
Brazilian toasted mate with a mellower, yet full-bodied character. Toasty, with a comforting chicory note, and hints of tobacco.

Nice, pleasant, tasty, not too assertive. I like it. A little bit boring on its own, but it gets the job done lol
I really liked this--it's caffeinated so the little extra boost is nice, but the taste is comforting and drinking this reminds me of drinking coffee.
I wasn’t actually sure I was going to enjoy this because there’s been some teas with the his in it that I didn’t enjoy, but I do actually really like this tea the spices are great and with just a bit of milk and sugar it’s great to start my day with!
A strong second to the Mocha Nut Mate. I prefer mate in blends moreso that on its own, be prepared it has a unique taste that people either enjoy or hate. Great energy boost, smooth and toasted.
I love this! The smoky taste is perfect for a fall or winter morning.
Light and flavorful at the same time. A little nutty. My only complaint is that I have to add another tea to my already huge order.
Not typically a fan of yerba mate, but this toasted version isn’t bad. Not my preferred tea, but I would drink again
Interesting. I’m still debating if I like it or not. Very unique
For some reason, the smell reminded me of the renaissance festival, but in a good way. The taste is kind of like smoked hay, if that makes sense. Honestly, I was a little worried after reading some reviews, but I really like this. (2 min, 200 degrees)
This is good, highly reminiscent of a light roasted coffee. Definitely needs milk/cream and sugar. I don’t know that I would choose this over coffee since it has caffeine, but tastes decent.
I’m not a mate fan, I guess. I didn’t care for the bark-y flavor!
Why do I feel guilty about giving a 1 star review? ugh. This was awful. First steep had a taste of fish, the oily part near and of the skin. Second steep (after seeing Jim R's review about soaking in cool water prior to steep) picked up more of the smoked tobacco flavor. Unfortunately, still not a flavor we enjoy. Two cups down the drain and moving on to something we know we like. Enjoy your Labor Day and Stay Safe!
Oh this tea will wake you up all right, but for me personally, this tastes like the water left-over from making collard greens. It is uncanny. It tastes exactly like boiled collard greens, maybe spinach, and seasoned with this je ne sais quoi of dirt. It's not for me, regretfully!
The rich roasted flavor is a great trade from the everyday coffee option. I really got quite the caffeine buzz the last time I sat to a cup. Sufficiently took care of my morning cup.
I've really enjoyed getting to know and love the different blends of Mate! It's a great alternative to coffee. I love the warm nutty flavor of the Toasted Mate. Comforting in the evening and goes great with cookies and pastries!
Delicious! I love mate and the flavor of this is quite wonderful. I am not usually a fan of roasted mates, but this is definitely one that is yummy.
This tea didnt taste bad, but even steeping double the amount for 5 minutes produced a very light bodied tea.
Just not for me, tasted like wet cardboard, and had an earthy smell.
Earthy tones, a good mate tea. I am just not a huge fan of mate in general.
Not quite as strong a flavor as morning black teas but stronger than the regular Yerba Mate. Great tea to have in my morning rotation.
I thought that this one had much more of a flavor to it than Yerba Mate. Still not very strong, but the richness made up for that. It almost tasted a bit like coffee (I hate coffee), but not in a terrible way. Still not sure if I am brewing it correctly, since it is leaning more on the bland side.
Yum! I had had mate blended with other teas and flavors before, but it s delicious all on its own!
On days when my tummy feels acidic, I opt for this tea instead of morning coffee. Warm and toasty, I let it sit probably longer than I should. The caffeine in this does not cause jitters.
At first I wasn't sure about this, but then I realized the water temperature I was using was too high. Made properly, it's a very interesting flavor, and I can see the resemblance to coffee. I like it in the afternoon at work!
Simple and good. THis might be my next breakfast tea.
I don't really taste the earthiness or grassiness - instead, I get a distinct cornmeal aroma and flavor, and even a little bit of... baked ham spices? It's interesting. Not bad, but I don't love it.
I’ve never tried Mate prior to this, but expanding my horizons, so...while it isn’t tea, it does have a nice toasty flavor, and I would drink it again.
I prefer this to the other mates I've had. It's less bitter than yerba mate, and more subtly flavoured than the mocha nut. Very pleasant.
It's a bit of an acquired taste, but once you get used to it, it's okay.
Love the toasted nutty flavor great to mix with about anything
I can no longer drink coffee and wanted a substitute morning drink that would come close. The toasted mate hits the spot - is very satisfying with a rich flavor. It is making giving up coffee easy!
A nice morning wake-up tea. Personally I prefer black tea a little better, but when the mood strikes, I enjoy the unique flavor profile of this mate.
Good smokey flavor, but needs a very fine filter cause the grounds are to small
This is my favorite. I think it's a great blend base.
I'm adding this toasted Mate to all kinds of other teas to get a little extra caffeine kick. You barely notice it's in there flavor wise, but it does give you a bit more alertness.
As an avid coffee drinker, this is one that I go for in the morning instead of coffee. Love the flavor and the kick of caffeine.
I was looking for a mate tea, and this really fit the bill. I will be reordering soon.
Such a robust flavor, it's a great coffee substitute!
Really good! It has a sweet sent and slight sweetness to it naturally. It reminds me of my childhood making for a really relaxing cup of tea.
I kind of knew I would love this, I'm pretty sure I had it years ago. This has a lovely mild nutty flavor to it. I used to be an avid coffee drinker, but find it's too strong of a flavor for me to enjoy often now especially due to the bitterness. The toasted mate has filled the hole I've had since reducing my coffee intake, just the right flavor I was looking for. I've used dandelion tea in the past (not from adagio) and this is another pleasant coffee-alternative in the world of tea :)
This was an unexpected favorite. I've had mate in the past, and it's alright but this is really something. I've been drinking it iced on hot mornings instead of coffee. Be sure to brew it with boiling water, not 160
I love this tea! It isn't bitter, even if I oversteep. Great with a little bit of milk.
Such a drastic change from yerba mate. Very interesting flavor.
I've never tried a mate tea before this one. I found Adagio's toasted mate to be just okay. It has a pretty mild flavor that's reminiscent of hay to me. I'll finish the bag, but I don't think I'll be buying it again.
Edit: Don't let this get cold, I just took a sip and almost gagged. It develops a strange, acrid, ashy taste when cold.
The taste is worth 5 stars! However, my final rating is 4 because the texture is more dusty/tiny ground than I prefer and I had more pass through my bombilla (filtered straw) than I would have liked. If it had overall larger bits it would be a 5 for me.
Not my thing. Probably good for other folks, but wasn't as coffee-like as I was hoping.
It's a tasty tea, use a little extra or it's rather weak. I accidentally mixed with a coffee pour over and it turned out rather good!
Too grassy for my tastes. If you like fresh cut grass, you may enjoy this.
Great toasted nutty taste that isn’t overwhelming. I blended it with some white tea. Fantastic!
