This is a wonderful kick start to the day! This mate smells nice, like a fresh cup of coffee. It tastes somewhat like coffee too, albeit with a slightly nutty and (of course) toasty flavor. The only downside I found was the recommended steeping temperature of 150 degrees. On a cold morning, that low temp means that your drink will be lukewarm at best by the time you finish brewing it and get it into your cup! I recommend kicking the temp up a bit, but especially on a chilly day.

Exactly as advertised. Like the regular mate, but toastier.

I started with a sample of the yerba mate and loved it. Recently noticed the toasted mate and had to try it. I believe a rotation between toasted mate and yerba mate will always be in supply in my house.

This tea has a taste that reminds me of coffee. Not my favorite, but I wouldn't mind drinking it occasionally.

Had a woody kind of aftertaste that reminded me of ginseng. Not a huge fan of it and I doubt this would ever replace my boyfriends coffee. The mocha nut had much better flavor.

Not exactly my cup of tea... personally the regular yerba mate tastes a million times better than the toasted. This mate is drinkable but that taste is really strong and unless you make it sweet it was hard to get down. while regular mate always reminds me of certain Japanese green teas

I will never try this tea again. I remember going to an argo tea store and liking the mate there, but this mate is... blughyugh. The granules are very small and filter through most strainers, even the mug/tea strainer from Adagio Teas. I could not force myself to drink the whole thing, and my friend and I ended up daring each other to finish it because we both hate to waste tea. Not a pleasant experience. There is no 'nut' flavor here, no 'smoky' flavor. It just tastes like dirt.

This is a great alternative for coffee. It has the kick of stimulation while providing me with less crash. Something I could easily drink through out my work day.

It's a nice palate to mix with other teas however by itself I would have to say that it comes off a little grainy.

This tea is an excellent alternative to black tea when you want energy but no caffeine. It has a black tea sort of taste, deeper and richer than regular yerba mate.

The toasted flavor is a little strong for my taste, but all around this is good tea.

Tastes better than regular Yerba Mate, but still not great. Good morning 'tea'.

This nutty tea has all the caffeine kick I need on an early morning. Chilled overnight in the fridge, it is ready when I need it. Sometimes good with just a little sugar.

knd of inbetween a tea and coffee flavor to me , but I found it a little to bitter .

I like this tea with soy milk and sugar. It has a slight smokeyness to it.

this tea has a great flavor and wonderful aroma. perfect in the morning, lunch or evening!

no bueno. It smelled and tasted completely different than I had expected. The mate was much finer than i had anticipated and made it through my fine mesh filter into my drink.

Imagine brewing sawdust made from a varnished piece of wood. That's about how the toasted mate tasted in my opinion

ground a little too fine for my non-South American brewing technique (tea ball). Tastes like sun-dried hay, with hints of turpentine. Mate is not very enjoyable to drink, but it will kick you into high gear.

I don't know if this represents mate as a whole, but I am not a fan. This tasted like watery coffee to me, not like tea. It was nutty but not in a good way. Glad I just got a sample I can use in a tea swap. Ick!

Got this tea for my husband and he LOVED it! Very dark and rich flavor, almost like coffee.

With its rich mate flavor, it is a welcome change in the middle of the day! Also, it's available in tea bags and loose.

Odd tasting but good. Like black tea and Black coffee combined. Excellent morning drink.

This tea smells like a fireplace when brewed and it has a nice woody flavor. The more I drink, the more pleasant it is. At first I was a little hesitant because I had never tried a mate tea, but this is nice.

This was my first experience with mate. I wanted to switch away from coffee and had read that mate is similar. It is similar, but does not taste the same- I think it tastes better! I have it in the morning in stead of coffee and find that I am less shaky, but still energized and for longer with no crash. Highly recommend!

Toasting adds some caramel notes much like adding crystal malt to a batch of beer. Brew at 150 degrees, or it will taste off. An improvement over regular mate for certain.

I purchased a sample of this tea and wish I had bought more. I enjoy the flavor of this toasted mate. It also is a great value because mate can be infused multiple times. I will be purchasing more.

A delicious dessert tea! With a little bit of sugar it has a wonderful sweetness without being overpowering. I really enjoy this tea.

Very good mate! It have a warm flavor to it. I can leave it in my tumbler all day

I like this mate in terms of taste when brewed correctly. The only issues I have with it is that it scalds easily and flakes sometimes escape the strainer, leading to oversteeping.

Different taste, still working on a good blend to use it with. It has potential!

My husband loves this tea...it reminds him of the tea his grandmother used to make. We are looking forward to trying more of the mates.

I did not think much of it, and it was quite awful to be honest.

Darned tasty and it will perk you up without keeping you up all night.

I have just recently discovered mate teas. This one has a good toasty flavor, but I prefer the chocolate spiked Mocha Nut better. The mate teas in general make a nice coffee substitute.

I do not generally care for mate. This is better than most, I think mostly due to following adagios brewing instructions and not doing it in the traditional way. This tastes like the third glass, when you do it the traditional way. Not grassy like most mate, and fairly smooth. There's still something about it that I don't particularly care for.

This has quality closer to a black tea. easy to drink, espicially when traveling and temperature is not always accurate

This is a different kind of tea. It's not what I am used to, but I drink it when I am in the mood for a change.

This has a very hearty flavor. It was my first mate and now I think I'm hooked. I can't wait to try the others!

I am new to this herbal tea but it has a very distinct and good taste.

This was my first time trying mate. I was expecting to not enjoy it at all by how it was described. This one reminded me of Hojicha... the roasted green tea, but a bit more mellow. I'm really digging having a tea that perks me up as much as coffee since I don't really enjoy the flavor of coffee without adding a bunch of creamer and sweetener.

A wonderful form of the Mate. Much easier to brew than the straight counterpart, the tobacco notes are presented without much of the harshness associated with yerba. A great blending companion with Lapsang Souchong.

This has much better flavor then regular mate and gives you a great kick in the morning without jitters

Less grassy, more earthy and nutty than the regular yerba mate.

To me its not necessarily bad, but it just taste like plan black tea
