This was my first mate also. I was extremely surprised to find it so smooth and definitely reminiscent of coffee. I also enjoyed it as a mid day boost when I was not feeling well.
As a huge mate fan, I was pleasantly surprised with my first time trying roasted mate. It lacks the astringency of green mate and is reminiscent of coffee.
