White Monkey Customer Reviews

Green tea from the slopes of the Taimu Mountains in Fujian, China. The delicate, unopened buds appear perfectly white against the young, opened green leaves. Warm colored liquor with a fresh, almost wildflower sweet scent and slightly dry finish.

It s ok, it tastes like a normal white tea, nothing remarkable, but it s not bad either.

My go-to all day tea! I'd say White Monkey is an excellent tea for beginners, people who don't like tea 'grassy' or bitter or too plant-y, or anyone who just wants a versatile, quiet tea. I really appreciate how well it holds up to multiple steepings. Personally, I think the second cup brewed tastes best, as the described dry finish is less noted, and it takes on an almost buttery flavor and mouthfeel (like the memory of eating a warm, fresh croissant).

When brewed exactly as labeled or at a lower temp, this tea brews up buttery smooth and tastes neither really grassy nor floral (I'm partial to ~3 minutes at 165°F). If you oversteep or burn this tea, it tastes somewhat sharp and more pronouncedly planty; while it won't get bitter and tannic like oversteeped black tea, it will have more bite akin to more pungent, bolder teas. I just add half a tsp of sugar if I accidentally overbrew it and have found that remedies things for me, more sensitive palletes may want to time it precisely.

Mine and my Dad's favorite green tea for kicking back and relaxing. Already running low.

A lovely, delicate cup that is exactly what I m looking for in a green tea. It has a slight natural sweetness to it, so I d recommend not adding honey so you don t mask any of the subtleties in the tea s flavor.

What a great cup of green! This is the perfect cup for those times where you want to have a cup of tea, but you don't want to be blasted with an intense, astringent/moody/vegetal flavor. While I love a good cup of flavorful green, this tea is the perfect blend of lightness and hints of flavor. The flavor is definitely there, but it's refreshingly light.

i find this to be a very light green tea. it has a light grassy almost straw/hay aroma. i can see using this as a base for a blend to go with its soft flavor. i steeped it a bit longer so i could get a better taste of the green flavor, 4 min is my max. it didn't get that nasty taste like when you over-steep some teas. the flavor what i would still consider light. this one wasn't a notable green like some others i've tried, just ok but worth a try. some may note the white hairs suspended in the tea after steeping- no issues with this. i used tea bags and steeped 3min at 200 with a bit of sugar.

A unique flavor. Very earthy. Totally enjoyable.

★★★☆☆

The taste is soft and light. I can't really describe the aroma other than vegetal but sweet. It's not too different from most other greens that I have tried, but it's certainly nice.

Good cup, but I prefer my black tea more. I thought I'd try something different.

Fresh and smooth and so good. Awesome green tea. Yum.

Enjoyed the tea. Better than other greens I've tried (like gunpowder)

Well I thought the tea smelled great . But how would it taste? I made the tea according to directions. Then I sat down to taste it. Wow. What a smooth evenly flavored tea. I sipped my tea with my 2 tea Berry cookies on my back patio watching the sun go down . You have to try this tea simply wonderful!

★★★★★

Very subtle green that actually takes quite a bit longer than normal to really steep. I appreciate greens that allow leniency in steeping time and don't become astringent the moment after the timer goes off.

This is a great green tea that has a bit more body than 'standard' green teas. The smooth smoky flavor is a great change of pace from our other teas.

A nice white tea. Just not as much flavor as a cup of some of the more prominent white teas.

A bit too light a flavor for my tastes. Very smooth and gentle flavor, a velvet feel on the tongue, but I want a bit more in my green teas.

This was a Christmas gift for a co-worker and he loved the tea.

White monkey tastes like golden happiness. I love it so much.

Smooth fruity taste, good for 2-3 extractions.I'd re-order this tea again.

A very light green tea, perfect for relaxing in the afternoon. I use a light flavored honey, such as orange blossom. Just don't over steep

★★★★★

I want sure about this tea, but now wish I had a bigger bag. This is a very yummy green tea.

★★★★★

I chose white monkey when I'm wanting a green but want something light. This is almost like a white tea, and it's good for multiple steepings.

★★★★★

This is one of my favorite teas up with jade oolong - it was perfect and light.  I add just A teaspoon of honey to it and its perfect, but its great without honey too!!! Not too earthy and not too weak.

I like this green tea, but not for a strong green tea flavor. If you really want a light green tea, this is the go to choice because it has a subtlety and lightness that not many other green teas possess while still fulfilling its purpose as a green tea.

I ordered this as I was exploring teas with a little less caffeine. It's not bad but just doesn't have a strong enough flavor. I do love my black teas!

This tea is great for like an inexpensive green tea. I like to lightly sweeten it with honey. It takes on the flavor really well.

Light in colour, complex and delicious. Solid taste.

★★☆☆☆

This tea is a very weak green tea. Even doubling the amount of tea used and brewing for longer than the recommended time results in barely any flavor.

★★★★☆

Beautiful full leaves, very vegetal smell but the taste is actually very mild and sweet. I enjoyed the cup, but I was disappointed that the leaves weren't visibly silver like in the picture, since that seems like most of the appeal of this tea over other more robust greens.

This tea smells really good and tastes good. I like this tea when I am in the mood for a lighter flavor. I generally prefer stronger/more flavorful tea.

It has a nice earthy taste and is a light color when it is brewed.

★★★★☆

I'm assuming it is a good tea, but because of its name, I poured one out for Harambe, so I didn't get to try it. Maybe next time.

I really like it , would recommend to anyone.

This is fantastic for the price, very smooth and a great flavor.

★★★☆☆

I was surprised at the lack of flavor and aroma this tea had. There are many other superior choices to choose from.

★★★★☆

Very tasty, but I think it upsets my stomach. I wish I could drink it more.

★★★★★

Really good flavor. I love this tea. I recommend it.

★★★★★

This is one of my favorites, and one of the rare teas that i prefer not to over-steep.

★★☆☆☆

I love Chinese green teas, but I couldn't figure this one out. When I followed the instructions for temperature and time it was very very weak. I eventually upped the quantity, time, and temperature and had an enjoyable cup. However, I don't think I'll be reordering any time soon.
