Kukicha Customer Reviews

A playful steamed green tea from Japan. Kukicha is a blend of leaves and leaf stems. The lightness of the stems becomes a sweet sesame seed or chestnut note. Tender like soft white rice. Balanced and, for a Japanese tea, very low in astringency.

★★★★☆

It’s enjoyable but it’s very grassy. It’s like a health drink almost.

Taste great. Probably my favorite green tea. Perfect for mid-afternoon as it really jumpstarts my hunger for dinner.

Light, slightly sweet, definitely worth trying. This would be a good tea to go to when you feel like something lighter.

This is so sweet and light for a japanese green- I like to have it at work and burned through my purchase.

★★★★★

Delicious. Smooth and well rounded, grassy but not in that I m drinking steamed broccoli water way. I m still figuring out the best temp/time for this brew -- finding that at the recommended temp/time, it goes a bit bitter.

★★★★☆

This is a very mildly grassy green tea, not acidic or bitter at all. I tried it hot but it would also be very good as iced tea.

★★★★★

This tea has a VERY light flavor. It's green, bright, and almost sweet. I'd hesitate to blend it with anything else, for fear the flavor would be lost, but it's nice on its own. I may steep it for longer next time (I went with the recommended 2 minutes), but it's definitely not unpleasant. In fact, I can't seem to stop sipping it. It's just that it's SO light.

It kind of tastes like lightly salty, grassy, rice.

At first I thought this tea was just OK, but it grows on you after you had it for a while. It's very smooth to drink. My favorite green tea is gunpowder, and this would probably be my 2nd favorite.

★★☆☆☆

I do not like this tea. It is too grassy for me. If you like that in a tea, you will absolutely love this

I love grassy teas. This one is wonderful. Time to reorder.

★★★★☆

A basic green tea, nothing special but that's ok sometimes when you're looking for a simple no frills green tea. This won't be a staple in my house but I'd get it again.

★★★★★

Delicious, a little nutty and sweet. Holds up to a second and third brewing

★★★★★

One of my favorite every day teas. Not too grassy and you don’t need a lot of it.

★★★☆☆

Not one of my favorites but it had a nice enough flavor. Mildly grassy

★★★★★

For a good classic cup of gentle green tea, I highly recommend this. It's my favorite blend of green tea! It's light and satisfying without being too strong.

Three things we should all aspire to be: green and nutty and comforting.

This is my favorite tea of all. I love the taste.

I've only had kukicha that was brown before, so this was quite different. Subtle, grassy, smooth, and uplifting. Highly recommend for all twig-tea lovers!

★★★★☆

Very green, green tea. A little earthy, but light. Clean, vegetable flavor. A little bitter but not too shabby. A nice green tea.

★★★★☆

A tasty and inexpensive option for a daily green. It is a little bit sensitive so definitely don't oversteep unless you enjoy bitterness. If you follow the directions or even steep a little shorter you will get a lovely cup of tea.

★★★☆☆

Had to steep a while to get colour in the tea. I personally was not that keen on it

★★★★☆

If you like sencha this one might be worth a try. It is slightly sweet and has a grassy flavor.

★★★★☆

Very earthy and grassy flavor. Can easily get too bitter if you oversteep, but otherwise is quite a good tea.

Great everyday tea, love the smooth light flavor.

I compared this kukicha to other green teas from Adagio, and this one ranked lower than the sencha and gyokuro. It has kind of a narrow flavor profile. I'm thinking it might make a good iced green tea in the summer, but I haven't tested that theory yet.

A favourite green tea in our household. Flavourful and a nice strong green tea.

★★★★★

I love this tea! I'm just getting into traditional green teas, and this one has a pleasant and smooth aftertaste, compared to other green teas that can be more bitter

This is a lighter crisper green tea. It is good both hot and cold and is a very refreshing tea served either way.

Very vegetabley. It's a really nice relaxing tea.

This wasn t what I expected. I like a grassier / nuttier tea, but didn t get a lot of flavor out of it.

This is a light, sweet green tea with grassy tones. Quite tasty.

Replaced my dragonwell with this (mixed with Sencha Overture). Cut my cost in half and it’s just as good!

I love this stick tea, its a mild grassy type green tea

This is my go-to weekday morning tea. I like to drink it from a clear cup to appreciate the bright green color. The toasty nose is instantly comforting. Remember it is is a green tea - so don't over brew or use boiling water.

This is by far my favorite green tea I have tried from Adagio. It smells and tastes so good. It's the one I will keep coming back to order.

★★★★☆

I found this to be a very leafy-tasting tea. It's great if you want something simple to drink - very unfussy and straightforward.

★★★★★

Most amazing kind of green tea, its incredible and unpredictable you will be amazed by its flavor

One of my favorites. Very light but flavorfu. This tea tends to be my go to in summer if I'm craving hot tea

★★★★☆

Fresh grassy flavour with a slight nutty, toasted flavour. A really lovely green tea, very refreshing.

★★★★★

Like many green teas, it's a plant-like taste. This one on its own is very earthy and tastes better with sweeteners. A go to for green tea if I need/want some.

Not as earthy as Sencha Overture, another one of my favorites. Very refreshing finish.

But 'playful?' (See description on package.) Seriously?

★★★★☆

This tea has a mild grassy flavor. I personally enjoy that but if you aren't into grassy green teas I wouldn't recommend it. This tea also has a mildly dry mouth feel and a subtle 'nuttyness' to it. Overall, while it isn't my favorite green tea, it is a damn good one. If you're truly into green tea you won't be disappointed by it.

One of my favourite green teas that this site has to offer. I started with the Japanese tea sampler

This is the best grass tasting tea for when I get amnesia and think I'm a large herbivore. Very fulfilling in that manner.

★★★★★

A really lovely tea - soft but flavorful with nice gentle sweetness and a fresh aftertaste. Just a delight to drink! I steeped it three times hot and then left the leaf in a glass of water in the fridge overnight to get infused water - each time it was delicious!
