Real grassy flavor, very different than most other teas I've had.
A playful steamed green tea from Japan. Kukicha is a blend of leaves and leaf stems. The lightness of the stems becomes a sweet sesame seed or chestnut note. Tender like soft white rice. Balanced and, for a Japanese tea, very low in astringency.

Real grassy flavor, very different than most other teas I've had.
I decided that I had to try this tea after someone mentioned that it reminded them of buttered vegetables. Whoever said it was right, and while you have to be in a certain mood to feel like drinking that combination of things, I liked it. Adagio green tea in general has yet to let me down.
A good, solid green. I tend to like the earthier flavors and this one delivers on that. I would agree with other reviewers that you definitely do not want to oversteep.
a good twiggy kukicha -- heavy on the grass just as it ought to be.
Kukicha is a good introduction to the Japanese greens. It has the characteristic herbal 'grassy' flavor that is sweeter and less astringent than Sencha Overture. It is also less finicky to brew 'right'. I would recommend it.
Very simple flavor, extremely grassy. Perhaps some people prefer greens with this sort of flavor, but it's not my thing at all.
Again, perhaps I brewed it incorrectly but I realy wasn't fond of this take on green tea.
No flavor at all, doesnt mix well with the variety of flavors I've tried to compliment it with. Not reccomended.
This tea gets VERY bitter if overbrewed, be sure to use a timer for this one!
Love it. Drink it everyday. The taste of buttered vegetables is extremely interesting. Glad I took a chance.
My favorite green tea! I love that it has a bit of a grassy taste; it reminds me of summer. Great hot or cold.
An excellent tea. Great on a rainy afternoon with a good book;delicious.
Green tea with stems and twigs mixed into it. The stems and twings add a pleasant nutty flavor that does not overpower the aroma or body of the green tea. Great as late afternoon or early evening tea or even as night time tea, as kukicha has low caffeine content.
took me a couple of trys before I got this one, but after the third cup I was hooked.
Lighter than Sencha and slightly sweet in flavor. An excellent choice for lovers of Japanese greens.
This is an excellent green tea. The grassiness sometimes associated with green tea is muted, providing a rich, floral, and vaguely smoky taste.
One of my least favorite greens. Pretty grassy taste - similar to the green pekoe IMO.
I had tried this from another vendor and did not like it. When I received a free sample from Adagio, what the heck, might as well try it. Loved it. This version was very pleasant and I've just ordered more. As with all Japanese tea, brew time and temp are important.
Very good tea! Great tea to enjoy all day long!!!
I thought this tea was just okay...did not like it enough to rave, although it was not bad by any means.
This tea was like drinking freshly mowed grass. Won't be doing this on again.
This is a rather different tea than the regular green teas that I am used to. It is much more mellow in flavor and good for a change once in a while. I'm not sure if this tea is going to be a regular in my tea cabinet, but it is an interesting change. For the price it is definitely worth a try.
Not too far off from typical run of the mill green tea. It has a little extra something to it. Possibly a nutty subtle flavor.
I did not enjoy this tea. I found it taste like grass and not very smooth. :(
Oh my. Tis stuff tastes like it has fish oil in it! And the twigs (don't see any leaves) feel kind of slippery like they have oil on them, not dry like you'd think. I tried it with less twigs and it didn't help any. I gues I'll use the rest to feed my plants...
A good everyday green tea. I will probaby reorder once I run out.
I AM NOT A BIG GREEN TEA FAN BUT I AM EXPLORING AND TRYING TO BE OPEN MINDED. THIS IS ACTUALLY MORE TO MY LIKING THAN MOST GREEN TEAS I HAVE TRIED. MY FAVORITE IS STILL HOJICHA, MORE LIKE BLACK TEA TO THE TASTE.
Kukicha is really very mellow - not crisp and fresh like the gyokuro, but rather smooth and sweet, very relaxing to the palate (and to the mind, by extension). The flavor is not 'in your face', but rather just lingers in the background. It's not quite grassy, more 'roasted asparagus' in nature. It does get slightly more astringent as it cools, but never turns bitter (I'm a slow sipper).
All in all, it is very good - and excellent for a break to kind of mellow out in the middle of the afternoon. Would be a good 'before bed' tea as well, I think.
This is a good tea. It has an nutty taste and is smooth, but it doesnt really distiguish itself from the other greens as much as I hoped it would.
This tea was pretty good. had an odd after tast for me but i still like it.
Smells like cut grass not as good as apricot green but still does the job
yummy, very green/chlorophyll-flavored, I like this tea first thing in the morning.
I had high hopes for this tea, but I was left disappointed. The stems don't so much add a grassy flavor as a 'leftover water from cooking canned veggies' flavor.
At first sip, I didn't care for this tea, but by the end of the cup it was quite tasty.
This is my everyday tea. I never expected it to be my favorite, but it's got a unique, earthy taste that makes it my top choice of the green teas I've tried!
Well, this one certainly was interesting. Initially, I felt the tea tasted somewhat 'hayish' and wasn't exactly thrilled. I normally don't take any milk or sugar in my tea, but I opted to try a dab of honey in this cup and achieved pleasant results. The tea then had a pleasant, sweet, earthy taste and if that is what you like, I recommend this tea. Personally, it's not my favorite 'as is' since I don't really like roasty flavors, but it's workable.
This is my new favorite green tea. Nice and light, with a lovely citrusy overtone. As with most green teas, it's a little sensitive to oversteeping, but otherwise a very nice tea.
Kukicha is plain and simply sencha with twigs added to it. Perhaps it's good as a lighter alternative to sencha, but unnecessary to me.
I was very pleased with the arrival of this green tea. It tastes grassy, but as much as sencha overture. It's my favorite tea in the morning.
This is my favorite green tea. Sometimes called twig tea (you can see why)lovely color and nice green taste. I make a small pot of this every morning.
good taste, but rather ordinary. makes a good everyday tea
Sweeter cup and more colorful than Green Pekoe this is a perfect tea for sipping while sitting outside on the patio on a warm spring day.
Grassy flavor with a definite green tea feel. Very forgiving to being over steeped
as i brewed this it was reminicent of canned asparagus cooking .
I didn't care too much for this one. It had a light flavor but was a little awkward for me.
A very good green. To me it tasts a little like buttery vegitabls. I like it a lot.
I have had better, but i have had worse. Unforgiving if oversteeped, it gets VERY bitter. Nice roasty taste and smell.
One of my favorite. Love the taste, reminds me of Genmai Cha.
A differt type of gree tea did not have a grassy taste. Not my favorite but I will order it again
I've had some organic Kukicka that was a straight brown twig tea that makes this taste like grass. This is not what I call Kukicha.
