Kukicha Customer Reviews

A playful steamed green tea from Japan. Kukicha is a blend of leaves and leaf stems. The lightness of the stems becomes a sweet sesame seed or chestnut note. Tender like soft white rice. Balanced and, for a Japanese tea, very low in astringency.

I love this tea! It's my new daily green tea. It has a mellow taste to it with a soft finnish.

Nice light green tea flavor. I first tried this over 5 years ago and totally loved it. I didn't try it again until just recently. This time around I feel like I had to steep it a little longer to get my preferred flavor. Wish I had regularly ordered this one so I could see if it changed over time.

It was a lot more grassy than other kukicha teas I have had. But it was light and refreshing.

Big fan of this one, great for multiple infusions too. If you're looking for a nice, green tea with a good price, pick this up.

A light and grassy tea, the stems make it interesting to look at while steeping. Don't use too hot of water for this one, it's delicate and can turn bitter quickly.

Hands down my favorite green tea. Another tea that works great for hot or iced anytime of the day for me.

A flavorful green tea that does not turn bitter even if oversteeped for a bit and has a great grassy aftertaste.

★★★★☆

This a good, mellow, sweet green tea. It's slightly grassy.

Not bad, but won't order it again. It did not taste sweet to me. But it was too grassy for me. Not mellow and smooth like I like my green teas.

First time with a Japanese green tea, I was very happy! Looks and smells like lawn clippings in the bag but brew a tasty cup

★★★★★

Very light and sweet. I was surprised to find that this quickly became one of my favorite green teas. Difficult to over-steep and lovely in the morning.

This is now my regular morning tea. Its slightly sweet and creamy, and beautifully green in both color and flavor. With its price point, this really can't be beat.

Nice and subtle green tea. Nothing amazing, but enjoyable.

I love this tea. The smell is so deep... almost like being in a forest and the taste is bright and sweet. I drunk a cup of this relaxing tea and felt so calm and sedated. It was great!

I love this tea. The local sushi bar serves this tea, but not as good as adagios.

Kukicha is pretty unique. A sweeter green tea that surely will not disappoint.

I like to brew this green tea very briefly at a lower temperature to get a sweet-grassy cup of tea. Greens always taste overly-bitter to me if they get anywhere near 3 minutes.

I loved this tea! It is so light and I love the delicate, slightly grassy flavor. It is probably my favorite Adagio green tea I've tried so far.

I've never had this kind of tea before. It was too grassy for me personally but I believe that the tea is supposed to taste... green. Recommended for those who enjoy the taste of wheatgrass :)

My favorite 'everyday' green from Adagio. Flavor is strong and grassy. The color is a beautiful green. Good for multiple steepings.

I love this sweet tea -- I used it to make Kashmiri chai, and it worked fairly well.

An excellent Japanese green tea with a smooth mouth-feel and a hint of sweetness. A great value for the price.

I've had other kukicha before, but this one is really nice. It has that good grassy flavor, but doesn't taste like grass clippings. Definitely recommend this.

This is a very subtle green tea and reminds me of the tea that you are served in asian restaurants. I personally like a more 'spinachy' green, but this one was okay.

★★★★★

Delicious, I've had many Kukichas but Adagio remains my favorite.

great earthy flavor. a nice tea in the morning, and is great with honey.

This is simply my favorite tea from anywhere ever. It has a sweet, grassy, vegetal taste that's delicious but not overpowering. I've tried kukicha in other places that didn't even come close to the wonderful yet subtle taste of this one. A lot of my friends don't like it, so I think it's an acquired taste. That said, I highly suggest you give it a try! No other green tea is like it.

A lighter tea than I thought it would be, as I expected a roasted twig tea. It is truly delicious tho. I brew it with fresh ginger slices for a morning to noon type of tea. I will buy this againg and again.

★★★★☆

I wasn't overwhelmed with new tea perspective, nor was I underwhelmed with flavor. It's good, but not anything I'd buy in bulk, though I've had a few kukicha blends that were tasty as well. If it's new to you: go out on a limb and get a sample!

★★★★☆

a cheaper, sweeter, earthier sencha... worth a try.

Wow! I got this on a whim, not really expecting much because of the price. I find it somewhere between Gykouro and Matcha, full in body but light in flavor. I'll be getting more of this!

I love this kukicha! It is very light and even if I accidentally over-brewed it, it was never bitter.

Love! A rich green tea with a bold taste yet no bitterness. Beautiful color too. No weak sauce here. This may become my goto tea.

Tastes pretty good and I'll enjoy finishing the bag, but I think there are other green teas I will prefer.

★★★★★

Great flavor and great balance. Has a very herbal taste and aroma. Very uplifting

Grassy looking and tasting! Not too heavy nor too light on the flavor

★★★★☆

Mild, hay-like, lovely pale yellow-green color. I find it very soothing cup.

Delicious grassy undertones and I love the tiny twigs within the tea. An enjoyable and economical green tea.

Absolutely fabulous! This tea was warm with a pleasantly hefty mouth feel that lasted throughout the entire experience. Initially reminiscent of matcha flavor, it mellows into an oolong echo on the tail.

This is my idea of an ideal green tea. Nice bold color in the cup. Earthy flavor. Not bitter at all. A lot of sediment in my cup though, even when using a fine strainer.

Can't live without this tea. Lovely hay and grassy notes. Has a nice calming effect too. I like it weak, strong, hot or iced. Fantastic!

★★★★★

This is my favorite green tea from Japan. It's a combination of tea leaves and stems which makes this tea unique and interesting. This tea has a strong earthy taste. Therefore, for those who don't prefer the earthy taste, sencha might be a more suitable tea.

This is hands-down the best kukicha tea I've tried. Kukicha has the grassy / vegetal undertones of a Japanese green with a delicious nuttiness that's perhaps more expected in a Chinese green. Highly recommended!

Suprisingly I get a sweet taste from this tea. I don't know though if I would get much beyond the sample size though. Not bad, but not what I want every day.

The jury is still out on whether I like this tea. I'm getting a lot of "dust" in the cup even when using an extremely fine strainer to steep the tea. The neon green liquor of this tea is beautiful and surprising. Very grassy, very "green" flavor.
