The best green tea I've had. Not too harsh, yet bold enough for a pick-me up. My daily green tea.

I love this tea. This will be on my reorder list. Beautiful light smokey aftertaste and smell. If you are an oolong lover I think you would like this. I drink it iced.

OK... this was very interesting. It really reminded me of leaves that were left on the ground in the fall and have been covered with snow all winter, then when you rake them in the spring when they're all brown & wet... that's pretty much what it smelled like... & tasted like, not that I've tasted leaves, but... it was a bit strange, though not bad.

Tastes just like oolong tea to me, which I don't like. I tasted part of one cup and threw it out. Fortunately the samples are cheap.

Ok as far as greens go, a bit nutty and a tad smokey, not my favourite but nice to have on hand

Strong, so I brew it quick and with less than the recommended amount. Very flavorful!

If you are a coffee drinker looking to stop drinking coffee then this is a great tea for you. It is nutty and has a similar roasted flavor. What I did was mix in daily sencha for the caffine and each day added less and less, now I am just drinking the Hojicha and was able to minimize the caffine withdrawals. Highly Recommended!

Great tasting tea. One of my favorite. will defenitly get again.

A delicate smoked tea with surprising complexity. I enjoy infusing this tea multiple times as each infusion brings a slightly different character to the cup.

You'll either love this tea or hate it. It ends up being slightly sweet if you make it correctly, but I've had people tell me that it tastes like beef. Maybe they couldn't overlook the roasted smell?

I really like the hojicha. It's got a mellow, lightly sweet flavor that's not really like green tea at all. Definitely worth a try.

This brews up a very pleasant color with a subtle aroma and has a subdued 'woodsy' and 'smokey' flavor. I'm a big fan of the more 'earthy' teas and this one hits the spot perfectly. This is a somewhat abnormal green tea but is still very tasty and has quickly become one of my favorites.

Nutty and smokey, it's hard to imagine that it's green. A good tea to wake up your taste buds.

The slight nutty flavor to this tea is fabulous! I love this as a basic green tea with a bit of life to it. Also the large container is wonderful now I have a nice amount of a tea that I really love.

I purchased this tea for me but the flavor was too overpowering so I gave it to a co-worker. He loved it. To each his own I guess...

Much less 'twingy'than it looks! This is a great escape from the usual green tea. Highly recommended.

Strong flavor that I did not care for as much as some of the other green teas.

I think hojicha is one of my favorites. It is full of toasty flavor with a hint of sweetness, almost like one of the darker oolong teas. Surprisingly not at all like any other green tea.

Another total surprise for me. I really enjoy this tea and will buy it in quanitity next time. I like it in the afternoon when I would rather drink tea that is low 'octane'.

If I could only have one tea . . . this would be it. Toasty, earthy and very comforting, without bitterness or unpleasant aftertaste.

Great alternative for black tea in the mornings. The darker flavor is richer than most green teas, much more similar in character to a black tea.

My girlfriend's favorite tea. So, for her I rated it a 5. I like it also. It's one of the cheaper and more unique greens on the site, and it's very good, so you should try it.

a great woodsy flavor that is great for green tea lovers. with the holiday season coming up I would definately have some hojicha on hand.

Heaven in a cup. Good for what ails ya! I find this tea to be very soothing, and it also tends to calm a jumpy stomach. A second infusion on this tea produces an even sweeter, nuttier tea. I probably drink 3 to 4 cups of hojicha daily, and not one has been a dissapointment. It is a little more forgiving with the brewing time as well. Between hojicha and Genmai teas, I know what I would choose for my desert island faves.

this tea is so good - I don't know how I lived without it.)) I was not sure I would like the flavor from the description bur still decided to try since I am big on green teas. it was the right decision - I am definitely ordering more of this one!!

I love this tea! It is nutty, rich and soothing. I had this tea many years ago and kept looking for it. No more! I have found it and will keep it stocked and availabe to me.

Not very memorable but the flavor was fine, just an average green tea.

asside for oolong 40 this is my favorite tea and it doesnt even have caffine. it doesnt have an overly smokey flavor which i was initially afraid of. i a good middle of the day at work tea.

I had never heard of this stuff and tried it on a whim, and was glad I did. Its quite different from normal greens, but its very nutty and slightly smoky flavored. It also has a little bit of acidity that comes through sometimes making it crisp. Its equally good iced and hot and is a nice low caffeine drink for the evenings, especially since herbals arent really an option for me as I am yet to find a good one for me.

A great flavor and texture. Steep for no more than 4 minutes and enjoy. A great tea that goes great at night or in the late afternoon.

I don't like it - it has a smokey taste almost like a rooibos tea. I'm still shocked that it's green tea, because it tastes nothing like it.

Hojicha is probably one of my favorite teas ever. The robust roasted flavor is just perfect. Though I could see how this may not be for everyone.

Very different stuff. Rather roasty, slightly burnt taste (not in a bad way though). Almost like the coffee of teas. A nice change, although I wouldn't make it my everyday tea.

A delicious earthy tea. Not for everyone, but 'm quite fond of it.

Unusual toasty smoky flavor, which I enjoy, but which the rest of my family finds disgusting. Even I don't drink it often, so I would recommend a smaller quantity.

Yummy. The aroma made me fall in love with this tea but the smoky flavor is excellent as well. I don't drink this tea daily but when I specifically am in the mood for its darker notes.

This is a really interesting tea-- the roasting really changes the character of the green tea-- it is almost sweet like it is caramelized.

very interesting taste, fun to try but a little too heavy on the smokey side. i'd personally prefer the genmai cha if they would ever restock the stuff know what i mean? good with a little cream n' sugar(or splenda!) for a dessert tea or breakfast.

This tea is my answer to satisfying my coffee craving in the am. A wonderful flavor and aroma, it is my first cup of tea every morning. Also another perk is it is very forgiving of the 3 min. brew rule for greens...still taste wonderful after a to long brew time.

Uniquely flavored roasted green tea with an appealing smoky nuttiness that is a constant fascination.

Very strong and grassy. A bit too much for my tastes.

I'm not normally a fan of roasted teas but this one is smooth and tasty without the burnt toast flavor I associate with roasted teas. Good depth of flavor, without being too aggressive. A good brew to introduce hard core black tea drinkers to green teas. I could drink it all day.
