What a great Christmas flavor. The nuttiness is very smooth and creamy. Not sure if it is Carmel or a tinge or maple that adds to the flavor.

This is a cozy and strong holiday tea. It’s very festive!

This is my favorite Adagio black tea. It is a great tea straight or as part of a blend. And, it is the only chestnut tea that I have found without artificial flavoring. Yum!

a very pleasant chestnut flavor! could be a smidge stronger, but thats just personal tastes

This is a ridiculously delicious blend. The black tea helps to darken the chestnut flavour, but without any bitterness, and add a lovely depth to it. The chestnut itself is perfectly nutty in taste, and even has a light sweetness to it that shows up in a maple note. It's fantastic.

It’s got a quite strong chestnut flavor, very good. It’s a tad bit bitter, but a dash or cream and sprinkle of sweetener really brings out the nutty flavor. A winner if you like nuts.

I love this tea! It has such a nice nutty flavor that is not overdone. I like it so much that I put a pouch of it in the order I just placed this morning. Happy sipping!

I really enjoyed this chesnut-flavored tea. Great Holiday flavors.

Added sweetener and creamer for a nice after lunch treat. Great flavor.

This was a nice cup of tea - nutty with a hint of caramel flavoring. It also resteeped well!

The chestnut flavor exceeded my expectations but the tea was really astringent. I steeped at 200° but I missed my timer by a minute or so. I’ll need to try it again to give it a fair shake, but if you are put off by astringent teas, steep this carefully or maybe skip it altogether.

A nutty, slightly sweet black tea that gives you some nice toasty notes when warm. I added just a splash of vanilla and some oat milk and this made a delicious morning cup that brings you into the spirit of the holidays!

Not good, not bad, just kind of neutral. Added some sugar to it after and that was good too. more black tea than anything else.

★★☆☆☆

212 degrees for 3 minutes. This tea was bitter to me with a syrupy sweet smell that made me nauseous.
Cream and sugar didn't help. Oh well, can't win them all. I love the hazelnut tea, tho :)

A good nutty flavour that almost taste a bit like coffee. I think I like the hazelnut better, but this isn't bad

Warm, comforting, and nutty. I just needed the cozy fireplace and book for a perfect day. 3 mins @ 212°F

November 28th, 2022 CommuniTea. This is lovely! I was skeptical when I read what tea was in the packet, but it tastes nice! Yay!

★★★☆☆

CommuniTEA 11/28/22: I have tried this one several times and within different signature blends. It just isn't my favorite. It isn't as nutty as a nutty tea or as smoky as a Lapsang. I would much prefer a Lapsang. It isn't bad, just not what I am expecting when I smell and drink it.
212 for 3 minutes with raw sugar

I’m not a huge fan of Adagio’s flavored blacks, but this one is pretty good. It is a warm and rich sip, perfect for fall! It’s light on flavor though, so if you are looking for a flavor bomb, this tea isn’t that! Chestnut does well in blends and may work better in that application than just straight sipping. Drink this one and sing, “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire….”. Happy Sipping!

*UPDATE from 2020: Still a favorite in my daily tea choices... loved this black tea so much I created a blend 'henry albero' that includes caramel and cream to give it the perfect addition of sweet and smooth. Brew 3-5 minutes and you can also double brew an additional cup! Very unique nutty flavor and I enjoy mixing it with caramel and cream for a smooth blend!

A little bit of sweetener and you have a sweet fall day in a cup. A unique taste that is not bitter.

This tea, like banana, cherry and grape flavorings, doesn’t taste or smell like the thing it’s named for. Having said that, it’s a fine cup with a distinctive heady taste. Chestnut Tea is a part of several excellent Adagio blends that can be enjoyed all year long.

This is a tasty tea but it doesn’t taste like chestnuts. It’s a little sweet and reminds me more of a yellow sweet potato. I added milk to mine but it didn’t need any sweetener.

Oh my gosh, delicious. The aroma is beautiful - nutty and very slightly fruity - and it tastes just as wonderful. It's warm and cozy, just like the scent that drifts from an oven of roasting chestnuts (which I actually just made a few days ago). I steeped for the full 3 minutes by accident, and there was a touch more astringency than I like, so next time I'll make sure I steep for 2.5 minutes like I normally do with black teas.

In the bag: Ceylon holds the stage alone in a visual monologue of short, black, brittle leaves.

On the nose (pre-steep): Just the dry, nutty, slightly woody scent of chestnut. Clean texture. Medium intensity.

On the nose (post-steep): Faint scent. Still the solo chestnut from pre-steep, but it's become too weak to pick out its nuances. Ceylon is in the background, lending a helping hand.

On the tongue (pre-sweetener): Balance between chestnut and Ceylon notes. A mild bitterness, but here it adds structure to a liquor with such light flavor.

On the tongue (post-sweetener): No change in existing flavor, but the touch of sweetness makes the liquor tastier.

Opinion: This blend superbly showcases its guest star, but I'm just not a chestnut fan. Neither on a plate or in a cake, not in a tea, no it's not for me, I'm just not a fan, no I'm not a chestnut man.

Preparation: 3 min @ 195 ℉, ⅜ tsp monk fruit sweetener

This tea tastes like a combination of nuts and caramel and it is delicious.
Is it chestnut though...I have no idea.
If this is what chestnut tastes like I'm going to have to find them. (195F for 3min)

I really liked this one. Chestnut seems a bit sweeter tasting than hazelnut. A three minute steep kept the focus on chestnut and 5 brought the back tea out more.

2/21/2018 - This flavor has been a favorite of mine from Adagio ever since I first tried it several years ago. It has a sweet smell and taste to it...reminiscent of maple syrup. The taste is smooth and light, not overpowering. I like to have a cup of Chestnut tea when I first wake up in the morning during the quiet time when the rest of the household is still asleep. :) A great start to my day!
12/16/21 - My favorite Adagio tea! Definitely a staple tea in my stash!
11/28/2022 - Still one of my very favorite teas from Adagio. I always have this tea in my stash! Lovely aroma and taste!

UPDATED from 12/16/21: “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…” and their aroma fills my nose as the CommuniTea packet is opened. I steep the tea at a lower temp, and the clear, dark scarlet liquid smells of nuts. Wonderful flavor as I sip, as the black tea provides some bitterness, it is the chestnut flavor that takes the spotlight. It is good, but I add ¼ teaspoon of sweetener (to 10 oz) and some heavy whipping cream which really brightens the chestnut and pulls it forward as it sinks the bitterness back into darkness. This is truly a nutty treat to enjoy as we approach Christmas and think very soon “...Santa’s on his way / he’s loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh…” (3 mins @ 200F + sweetener and cream).

I thought I would be bored with a cup of ‘just chestnut’, but it is surprisingly well balanced. Of course you could always do a second steep and add some fruity or cream flavors in there! Actually I bet Cream and Chestnut with a bit of milk and honey would be wonderful…

I love this chestnut flavor. It is warm and comforting. I like blending with other flavors too like chocolate or Earl Grey.

I'm not the kind of girl who would normally order chestnut-flavored anything, despite legends of open-fire roasting. But I received this in either an advent calendar or communi-tea box and gave it a go. It is now one of my most favorite teas! It's smooth and nutty and some other kind of magic. I've reordered many times. Try it!

I have become addicted to a morning cup of fragrant, bracing, chestnut tea! Can't start my day without it!

★★★★★

Well, my tea ball fell into my cup, and I couldn't get it out, so the first time actually steeped for almost an hour!!! With that said...
Ummmm, yum! I was afraid it would taste bitter after steeping for so long, but nope! For me, it tastes as amazing as it smells! Really nice aftertaste.

★★★☆☆

Tastes good. A little creamy and nutty. Not too strong or week. Reminds me of the taste of Boba tea? That flavor. Brewed for 3 minutes at 212, served with half and half and splenda.

★★★★★

Unique, delicious, and unexpected! This tea has a tiny hint of nutty sweetness. Add a splash of cream and a pinch of nutmeg and it is a cozy cup for an Autumn morning.

I served this at a tea party and everyone that tried it loved it! Everyone agreed it reminded them of the toasty, autumnal flavor of hojicha but was unique and smooth and delicious. Pretty sure I turned an entire room of people into tea fans with this one flavor alone. With half & half and sugar, it's decadent. I'll be keeping this one year round!

★★★★☆

Warm and cozy but not too sweet. I’ve found that steeping this one too long is a mistake. This is a nice morning tea for cold weather.

I ordered a tea sampler gift set from another site that I have been ordering my tea from. It contained your chestnut tea bags. One taste and I fell in love! I was able to get to your website from the name on the side of the tiny tin so here I am, and so glad to be here. I did not follow the temperature instructions but instead placed the teabag in the cup of cold water, like I always do with tea bags, and placed it in the microwave on high for 2 minutes and 20 seconds. It came out absolutely amazing!

I love this tea. It’s just so comforting. I like to add a splash of oat milk and I’m good to go. Doesn’t need additional sweetener.

The flavor has a subtle hint of maple. This tea is smooth and doesn't really need to be sweetened but some hot milk added would be delicious.

Excellent nutty flavor. When Adagio is on with flavored teas, they are excellent. Several cups later this is still among my favorite black teas ever. Always have on hand.

I brewed my Chestnut (black tea) hot with cocoa nibs and chocolate honey. It was exactly what I needed on a bad day! The nuttiness of the cocoa nibs tied in really well with the chestnut flavor already in the tea, plus the sweetness of the chocolate honey really rounded it out. I would highly recommend this tea!

I just had to buy this tea after enjoying the flavor coming through in several blends. It didn’t disappoint. As many other reviewers noted, I have never eaten a chestnut but chestnut tea is fantastic and I will be sure to
keep some around. I used raw honey as a sweetener and found that it brings out the flavor nicely.

A very nice simple black tea. I wasn't sure if I liked the taste of chestnuts, but I love it! It s smooth and flavorful. I will repurchase for the winter. @adagioteas
