Not a chestnut fan. If you are, you’ll probably enjoy this. The black tea is a good base, and despite my dislike of chestnut, I was able to finish this cup.
Perfect for enjoying in front of an open fire on a cool night, in any season. A comforting reminder of the season of giving, perfect to share with a few close friends.

Perfectly sweet, nutty, and holiday! Couldn’t ask for a better flavored black tea
Delicious tea, one of my favorites. Perfect winter tea and especially great around the holidays! I only wish Adagio would make a decaf version of this as it is a perfect tea for desserts.
I have enjoyed this tea before, so when I looked at the CommuniTea this morning I was excited to see that it was today's tea. As before the color, flavor, aroma, and feel were all beautiful resulting in a fully enjoyable drink - all the more so as a festive holiday blend. Imbibed with the CommuniTea on December 21, 2020.
Smooth, nutty flavor. Great tea, especially this time of year.
I must have overbrewed this a touch because it was awfully sour, but some sugar and milk fixed it easily, and it was quite comforting after a long night tending the Yule fire.
A great nut-flavored tea that tastes as good as it smells! The rich scent of roasted nuts and (maple?) smelled inviting when I opened the CommuniTEA packet and while the tea was steeping. I initially steeped for 3 minutes at 200 degrees, but the bitterness of the Ceylon overwhelmed the chestnut flavoring. However, when I added a tiny bit of maple syrup, it was smooth and delicious! The flavor became even more prominent as the tea cooled. I steeped a second time at 190 degrees for 3 minutes, and had no bitterness. Adagio, please blend this tea as a decaf!
I dont put sweetener in drinks anymore, so I find it hard to drink a blacker tea without it being bitter. I think this is a tough cup to get right, but when you do it has a nice subtle nutty flavor.
I didn’t particularly care for this. It was bitter and not very enjoyable.
Nutty and smooth, tastes even better when dressed up.
I found the black tea to be too bitter if oversteeped even by a couple of seconds, but when I got it right the roasted chestnut flavor really came through. It's such a warm and toasty cup of tea, reminds me of a Christmas nut roll. Pretty nice on its own but I preferred it with some almond milk and a little bit of sweetener to smooth it out. Will most likely buy more to have on hand during the holiday season.
The chestnut flavoring was a bit harsh but it was a good pairing. Wish the flavor was a bit more natural? (CommuniTEA)
Not really sold on this tea on its own, but I think it would work wonderfully in a blend.
I would have never tried this tea...but, once again thanks to CommuniTea I've had the opportunity to sample a really enjoyable cup of tea. The aroma is wonderful! Nutty. I added a little sugar and cream...so good! Sugar, not really needed.
I don't know how to say this gently. I did not like this tea. It tasted and smelled weird.
Really enjoyed this CommuniTEA sample. Lovely aroma and smooth, earthy taste. I bet this would be a fabulous base for blending.
Not for me. Overwhelming smell on opening the bag and then I had some sort of reaction to the tea. Probably something in the chestnut flavouring. Oh well. Not everyone can love every tea.
Chestnut Tea is delicious! This is a smooth nutty flavored tea.
Tastes like burnt maple sugar.
But I haven't had a chestnut so no clue if this is normal
Opening this morning's Communitea packet rewarded me with such a pleasant aroma. After reading some of the other reviews I brewed at a slightly lower temperature to avoid the excess bitterness. I was rewarded with a sweet and nutty brew.
I've only had chestnuts once, in a stuffing I made for goose. I don't remember what they tasted like. This tea is very nutty in aroma, and that continues after brewing. The flavor is also very subtly nutty, but the black tea tries to overpower. It's okay, but I prefer nutty flavors in coffee, and not tea.
Reviewed as part of the communiTEA: this tea smells amazing. It’s ok on it’s own but I prefer it with some cream and sugar.
I'll admit I'm not wild about nuts - I leave them out of my baking recipes and avoid them in other food as much as I can. So I can't say if this tea has a true chestnut flavor or not.
That said, there's definitely a rich, slightly bitter flavor that gets more prominent as the tea cools. After adding a bit of sugar, the tea is palatable to me, but not mind-blowing. The black tea is nice but I find it gets buried a little beneath the strong flavoring. I like the smell of the tea much better than the taste; it has a cozy, maple-y scent that I'd be happy to sniff all day.
Due to my own preferences this was never going to be a tea I love, but anyone that enjoys chestnut would probably be nuts about it.
This was the perfect chestnut tea. Nutty, caramel flavors that compliment the black tea but aren't overpowered by it. I brewed this one extra long to have with cream and sugar and it is absolutely perfect this way. This is a nice alternative to a chai latte, rich and flavorful without the spice. Excellent!

This tea isn't for me, it just tastes like standard black tea. I must be missing something.
The tea smells and tastes lovely! This tea's flavor is rich, warm & nutty! I've never had real chestnut, but this is immediately recognizable as the seasonal flavor that it is. I added a bit of sugar and [almond]milk and really enjoyed cozy treat!
Steeped at 195°F (mug was cold haha) 3.5min. 2nd steep, 200°F 4min - the flavor was there, but noticeably weaker.
Adagio wow, this is now probably one my favorite black teas. A pleasant nutty aroma seemed to fill the room as it was steeping, and oh what a wonderful smell. So delicious. The chestnut flavor is very smooth and honestly so perfectly blended. Now, I can’t wait to re-steep this communiTea sample later on as a latte by my open fire snuggled with my spicy chocolate labbo, Maverick. A must try! (4 mins @ 200°F)
I really don’t know what chestnuts are supposed to taste like but this is a fairly good tea to have around for fall and winter. Nice cup to make while watching Christmas movies by the fire.
Wow oh wow. Adagio always makes fantastic nut flavored teas, and this is no exception. It’s so rich and hearty, with a slightly savory taste as well. I added a small spoonful of sugar and it really brought the chestnut flavor forward, and mellowed out the black tea. A tiny splash of almond milk just took this over the top. Thanks CommuniTEA, a bag of this is now on its way to my house!
A real cream and sugar type tea, with a taste of roasted nuts. A wonderful wintery tea.
Somehow, this is so delightful. Drinking without sweetener or milk, its like a chocolatey nutty flavor
This is a very good black tea. I don't taste any bitterness (brewed at 200F), and it has a nice aroma. I've never tasted a real chestnut before, so this will be what my senses remember. I think I'll order a bag of this one!
I love this tea!! I wasn't sure of it at first but after my second cup I was definitely loving the chestnut and woodsy flavor. This is now my favorite tea from Adagio and had to order more to keep me well supplied.

Since my last review, I steep at 212 for 5 minutes now, I have added sweetener and cream several times to this wonderful tea and they make it taste even better to the point now when I have a cup I can't decide if I want sweetener and cream or not. I often have it after dinner and just seems to be the perfect ending to a nice meal. I can't say enough about how good this tea is, it's just awesome and a year around cup for me!
Such a festive tea. The chestnut flavor is warm and goes perfectly with the strong black tea. I added a little sugar and a splash of milk. I love this tea.
Chestnut tea+macadamia nut honey (thanks Trader Joe’s)+almond milk=A nutty flavor that really reminds me of a Thai bubble tea. This is a perfect addition to the day.
I really love this tea, and was happy to see it pop up in my CommuniTEA packet today. It has a hint of natural sweetness and a nutty, toasty flavor that blends well with the black tea. I was gifted a sample previously, and it was gone way too fast. It is comfort in a cup and I could easily drink it everyday. It does require a lower temp and not over steeping to keep the bitterness at bay; however, I am a black tea lover and enjoy the strong bite, so I drank it plain with no additions. Tried this via CommuniTEA. TBH I don't know how a chestnut tastes different from any other kind of nut, so I can't comment on authenticity. . . . The flavoring was nutty and sweet, though not very robust. Unfortunately the base black tea turned out more bitter than I usually get from Adagio's flavored teas, which probably overwhelmed the chestnut.
I wasn't sure how I would like this because I don't like hazelnut and I don't know what chesnut should taste like. When I opened my CommuniTEA packet, it just smelled like hazelnut to me (maybe my sense of smell isn't refined or maybe that's how chestnuts are supposed to smell), so I didn't have high hopes going in.
I brewed as directed and while I can give credit for the fact that there wasn't that normal bitterness that comes from a black tea, but I wasn't impressed. I guess I just don't like nutty flavors/teas. Probably a good one for people who enjoy those flavors, but this one wasn't for me.
When I opened my communiTEA packet I was hoping to see chestnuts roasted on an open fire, but settled for moderate chestnut aromas instead.
When hot, mild chestnut flavors and a mild bitterness from the black tea was noted. A bit of sugar was added to make sure the chestnut didn’t get overpowered by the tea.
When warm, mild sweet potato flavors from the chestnut melded with the black tea to produce an overall smooth and fire-roasted nutty flavor all the way to finish. This was a very pleasant morning sip. (2 mins 30 secs @ 200ºF, 1/4 tsp sugar)
Nice rich nutty flavor that doesn't overpower the taste of the ceylon. I brewed at a lower temp (195) to avoid some of the bitterness that can be common to ceylon, and enjoyed it with a good dollop of half and half.
To be fair to this tea, I don't usually enjoy nut flavoring in my tea. I brewed this at a lower temp to avoid bitterness, but it still tasted bitter to me. I think it was the chestnut flavor just didn't work for me. I'm sure this is good if you enjoy chestnut flavor.
Good chestnut flavor, I added milk to round out the flavors a bit and it became a rather enjoyable cup of tea.
This is a lovely tea! The chestnut flavor has just the right intensity and this tea holds up great to a bit of sugar and milk.
Chestnut takes a backseat to the black tea in this cup so a slightly lower temp and shorter brew time may keep the bitterness away. The aroma is mildly pleasant as is the taste, but after adding just a touch of honey, the nuttiness rounds out this comforting blend.
This smelled so amazing out of the packet..it had a nice flavor but I wish the chestnut flavor came through just a bit stronger, the way it smelled.
Not my favorite tea but definitely chestnut flavored! The flavors of the tea leaves themselves blend well with the added flavoring and it’s an amazing coffee replacement!
I found that I didn't enjoy the chestnut tea. Maybe I steeped too long because it was a little too bitter.
enchanting... different and fun to explore ... ty @communitea
Well balanced black tea and you could taste the chestnut. i don't usually drink alot of black teas so i would not be purchasing this for myself.
Good chestnut flavor, but it got a little bitter as it cooled. I added half n half at that point, and it really helped.
