I was looking at caffeine contents to try and break my energy drink habit. This tea does it for me. It's got a nice light flavor and it gets me up
Silver Needle white tea is among the most revered of Chinese teas. Gathered only for a few days in early spring, a dedication to perfection is evident in the pale, ivory-colored liquor. Delicately honeysuckle floral, with a warmed sugar sweetness.

I was looking at caffeine contents to try and break my energy drink habit. This tea does it for me. It's got a nice light flavor and it gets me up
Like many other reviewers have stated, this tea is somewhat flavorless. It does give you that calming sensation associated with higher quality teas but the flavor is simply lacking, and flavor is a big part of the equation. Tastes like a quarter strength white peony or something. Just nothing there. 2nd infusion was just as flavorless. I'll stick to the white peony.
I really like the silver needle but a bit pricey for everday tea. I plan on trying out the white peony for everyday and leave the silver needle for special occasions.
First of all, this is an exemplary tea. I've sampled some other vendors' bai hao yinzhen teas before and this is equivalent to those if not better. Good for many infusions and a pure delight to drink. The only caveat, and this doesn't keep me from giving the tea a 5 star rating, is that the sample size from Adagio does not make 5 cups, as stated. The sample is labeled as 11 grams, although mine was closer to 12. I tend to use 3g per cup for everything, so this sample only make 4 cups or so. I only mention this because I've noticed it to be a bit of a repeat issue with Adagio's leafier teas. However, since you can steep these needles multiple times, I could also argue that it makes a lot more than 5 cups.
Never gets overbrewed! But doesn't stand up great to many infusions. Still a delicious tea.
I'm writing a second review on this because I was really disappointed with my last shipment. I have been drinking this tea for a few years and the last batch I got didn't even look like silver needle. It looked like something else entirely and was also filled with little yellow fuzzy balls that Adagio told me were totally normal to be present in the tea. Well, in 3 years, I'd never seen them before and I'd never received a shipment of silver needles before that DIDN'T look like those soft furry light colored 'needles'. Whatever I got more resembled white peony's texture or one of the other white teas. I just ordered a new batch and I'm really hoping I don't get a repeat of the last order. Because if I do, I'm not ordering it again, and that would really s-ck, because this is one of my favorite teas.
Silver Needle is still one of my favorite teas. I've tried this tea with other vendors in a comparison and the quality is as good or not better than the higher priced competition. If you like white tea then you owe it to yourself to at least try this tea.
Much better than other silver needles I have had. Very light, so I suggest adding a touch of sugar, but the flavor is unbeatable.
This one has a very nice smell to it out of the bag and brews to a flavor that is close in strength to a light green tea. The only problem is that the sample bag goes way to quickly.
This is a wonderful tea with the fragrant aroma from the start of the brew until you drain the cup. This is one of my favorite teas.
A fine tea, though definitely not ant anywhere near the Jasmine Silver Needle
Silver Needle is very mild and delicate, and it does not release much flavour during cold brewing. I found it a bit sharper and less sweet than White Peony, but due to the higher price, I will probably not buy it again.
If my tea journey has taught me anything it's that I LOVE white tea and this is no exception. I was a little afraid because the flavor of the leaves wasn't what I was expecting, but this is the first non-flavored tea that I've tried and really enjoyed. It's earthy without being gross and there's this tiny, tiny sweet aftertaste. I literally gulp this tea down... which I probably shouldn't, considering the price.
I really love my Yin Zhen pearls, but I had to settle for white needle. Considerably cheaper, and almost the same flavor, not as exciting as watching the pearls unfurl but for the cost savings it's all good. I've heard this is good for blending, but that would be kinda like adding ice to wine. I got some Yuzu syrup last time I was in Japan, and I add that to the Silver Needle, and take it to another level.
Wonderful tea! I have tried a few different white teas and this was very good. Wonderful color and very good taste. I will be ordering more.
Not as strong as white peony but still a very pleasant flavor
I do like the Silver Needle, but I wouldn't consider myself a tea guru or anything so I would personally prefer a little extra flavors for my white teas like the peach white tea. Like I said not a tea guru or anything, just my two cents.
This is the best white tea that I have found. It is addictive.
I love Adagio's silver needle tea! I'm such a white tea fan in general though. All you need are a few leaves of this tea, let the leaves expand and steep in lukewarm water. Love the subtle, smooth flavor.
I can't believe I can buy a silver needle of this quality at this price! The color and sizing of the leaves are consistent and never broken.
I tried the silver sampler and had to order this tea because I thought it was such a great tasting tea. My favorite tea.
This was a really nice tea but not overly impressive. The description says it is delicate and I would definitely agree. Not something you would replace a cup of coffee with by any means. Different, intriguing, balanced.
Honestly, if you want to experience white tea, this is the definitive way to do it. The little hairs, the smooth, fresh (but not grassy) taste, and the nice antioxidant/theanine/placebo boost I feel after a cup make this my go to option for when I'm stressed or feel like celebrting.
I like to mix this tea with white blueberry or other white teas to add a smooth complement.
Lovely to look at. Be sure to brew in a glass cup or pot. Light delicate taste. Good for you, too.
Very good white tea. This is good for an afternoon calming cup.
Very light-bodied tea, as I was expecting, with a nice mellow flavor.
Silver Needle tastes amazing. This tea soothes my soul.
I think I just found my favorite white tea! When I opened up the package it smelled of flowers, similar to honeysuckle, which I LOVE. The taste was amazing
I loved this tea. Smooth, flavorfull and lovely for a quiet morning.
If you want a lightly flavored tea, and one without as much caffeine as a black tea, then try this one. It's a lovely tea.
This is a great high-quality white tea. It tastes very much like White Peony but with a slightly richer dryer flavor, while White Peony seems to have simpler sweeter notes.
Nice tea. Little seaweedy for my tastes. Probably wont get it again. Not worth the money in my opinion.
My favorite by far! When brewed right (10-15 below boiling), it has the most unique, delicate flavor. Not bitter unless it oversteeps, and a very warming and gratifying cup. I normally have this once or twice in the late evening as it has less caffeine.
Much more flavourful than I expected from the scent, while still light and airy. With visual appeal as well, a very nice tea.
This is a great every-day tea. The flavor is subtle, not overwhelming. Nice if you enjoy white teas. It's not very flowery, like the jasmine silver needle (though I think I enjoy that one a little more just because of the jasmine flavor in it. But it's hard to decide!)
Very smooth white tea, one of my favorites. Sugar is not even needed!
This is where it's at...when I need something relaxing, there's nothing like a nice silver needle. I'd previously tried Adagio's jasmine version, but found the jasmine to be a bit overpowering. This tea is perfect just how it is.
Sooo good! This tea is surprisingly sweet, sort of like honeydew melon or jicama. White tea doesn't pack the bold flavors that other kinds of tea do, so I recommend trying a sample before spending a lot of money on this one.
outstanding tea. One of the best kinds of white tea
This was the first white tea I had sampled. The leaves are very pretty, the tea itself had a nice color, but I sure wasn't prepared for the taste of it. It reminded me of vegetable water. I asbolutely loved the jasmine silver needle, but the plain silver needle will not be something I will revisit.
This is a very mild tea, which I sip throughout the day. I carefully brew a small pot in the morning, pour in a thermos and sip hot tea throughout the day without much effort.
Awesome silver needle. Tastes great and the price is right.
My favorite. Not enough of this in the world. Will absolutely purchase again.
What can I say, i love silver needle, and Adagio's variety is great :)
I am a very big fan of this white tea. It has a soft flavor and a very nice earthy aroma.
The tea was broken into smaller pieces than I would have liked and seemed to be a little to dry. However the tea still had a good taste but it was not as delicate as some of the other silver needles I have had in the past.
A great tasting tea. Great for when I am not in the mood for something stronger.
My first experience with white tea and was a great introduction
Flavor: Light, delicate sweetness
Aroma: Green, grassy notes
Liquor: Very light, silver
Steeping: 2 steepings, 1tsp at 160F / 2 minutes, 1tsp at 170F / 2 minutes
A very delightful tea that's taste finishing quickly. Quite delicate, with a wonderful sweetness. A great any time tea with a fantastically light taste.
