Sweet, but licorice overwhelms the other flavors. Not a fan!
The warm and soothing embrace of sweet licorice, calming anise, and fresh raspberry leaves are a trifecta of comfort.

Sweet, but licorice overwhelms the other flavors. Not a fan!
The communitea packet for today was empty?!?! First time that has happened to me in 2 years. But on a positive note the packet was perfectly sealed. I have had this before and bought my own stash for those days when the throat could use some soothing.
So I overstepped my first steep by like 12 hours (oops). Second steep was brewed to instructions. This has a very licorice taste and reminds me of a healthy version of Aveda comforting tea. I will not be buy the Aveda anymore as it comes in bags with little tea particles and I would much rather have adagio loose leaf. Thanks Adagio!
I like this one a lot more than I thought I would. Lots of sweet black licorice taste along with some Sap. There is a warming sensation going down my throat. A lot of the get better teas can be off putting and only tasty when sick. I could see myself drinking this any time.
Perfect for days (like today) when I’m feeling under the weather. This isn’t a tea I would drink for pleasure (it doesn’t taste great), but it gets the job done without being actively terrible.
In the bag: All ingredients seemed present.
On the nose (pre-steep): A woody licorice scent of medium intensity. A touch of aniseed. No orange or cinnamon.
On the nose (post-steep): Weak intensity. Slightly medicinal aromas of licorice and hibiscus, though not woody.
On the tongue: All flavors from the description are present, minus raspberry. No sugar needed - it's already mildly sweet. Coats the tongue and throat in a pleasant way. No tartness or astringency.
Opinion: Easy and pleasant to drink, but complex enough to be interesting. Love the flavor, but in small doses - more than a cup or two might become cloying.
Preparation: 5 min @ 212 ℉
CommuniTEA 10/2/22 - I wasn't excited about this one, as I'm not a fan of licorice or anise. I made as directed with a bit of honey. The aroma was to me quite unappetizing. But it tasted better than expected. I can't say I liked it but I do think my throat felt better after a few sips. So maybe good for when you have a stuffy nose and sore throat.
Update 10/2/22: I did not get the Zicam feeling from this tea that I did last year. The tea felt smoother and less chalky, and I could taste the licorice and aniseed this year. Unfortunately, I don't find that the combination helps. I had a sore throat as I was sipping, and when I finished my cup, my throat still hurt...more than when I started. Hence, the downgrade to two stars. For me the effects of this tea just don't deliver enough to make it worth the taste.
What a strange tasting tea. With both licorice and aniseed in it, I know I should taste those distinctive flavors, but instead, the taste reminds me of...Zicam? Or perhaps, some other kind of chalky medicine. The chewable children’s Tylenol tablets also come to mind. Certainly, that’s the feeling I get from this tea: cinnamon-flavored Zicam. It gave my mouth the same sort of dry-coated feeling that I get from one of those dissolvable tablets. It was very odd. And sweet, but that might have been because I added honey, as the website suggested. Did it help? Well, maybe for a little bit but not more than an hour or so. Of course, that could have been because my throat was more scratchy than sore.
Nice licorice flavor--the dominant flavor in my cup. My guess is that this tea would be soothing for a sore or tired throat.
UPDATED from 9/11/21: Healing teas are so beneficial - if you can stand the flavor. My Oh My - the licorice and anise are strong with this blend. Unfortunately they are the very two flavors my tongue rebels against. The CommuniTEA ingredients steep into a pale gold color, but there is nothing pale about the flavor. The cinnamon is strong- but not strong enough to cover up the powerful licorice and anise flavors. All three tastes gallop fiercely together over my tongue, riding into the sunset of the finish. I attempt to drink this - but since my throat is fine - I cannot. If you like black licorice and anise, this is a good way to soothe a sore throat. Hot tea with lemon and honey does work! ( 5 mins @212ºF).
Today I am perfectly healthy. No breathing issues so I cannot tell you if this tea helps with those issues or not. I can tell you that this is a very nice tea. The ingredients blend together perfectly creating a delicious soothing tea.
Bought this because I wanted to try a tea with licorice in it, wound up having a sore throat from allergies shortly after it arrived so it was perfect timing! The tea is amazing, blend is smooth and sweet and helped soothe my sore throat. Definitely going to keep this stocked in my stash of tea!
Best health tea ever. Got viral laryngitis and it was the only thing that helped
I got this because I often have a sore throat due to allergies. It does seem to soothe my throat, but I also enjoy the flavor as well. It was a bit of an acquired taste, but could drink this tea for the flavor alone now.
This arrived just before a couple of my family members got COVID, and it’s really helped the one with a dry cough. My other family member has a phlegmy cough, so they haven’t tried this due to our concern that the slippery elm might contribute to more phlegm. It’s no cure, but it’s been very helpful for soreness and dry coughs.
It's fantastic and even more helpful with a smidgen of honey! Going to be one of my new favorite teas- because not only is helpful, but it also tastes amazing- it reminds me of a childhood cereal somehow. Very savory with warmth.
This tea is so good for a sore throat!
I absolutely love this tea
If you like licorice and anise this is the tea for you! It is not my favorite as it seems 'medicinal' but I thought it was still good. I prefer peppermint and ginger tea for a sore throat.
This tea helps soothe my throat when it’s aching from allergies
This has been my mom's go-to this past winter any time she gets a sore throat. She likes the flavor much better than the store bought equivalent.
calming to the throat and stuffy nose...excellent remedy for a cold, and great aromatherapy too
A mild tasting and soothing tea. Calms a scratchy throat easily.
Perfect for a sore throat or just a raspy feel to the throat. All the flavors worked very well together and it s also very tasty. @adagioteas
Wonderful for the throat! I'm a singer and it works wonders, tastes nice too.
I m sure this is down to personal taste, but I found the cloying sweetness of the licorice in this to be revolting. I had to give it away. @adagioteas
This sip hits with peppery flavors on the tip of the tongue and sweet licorice in the throat. The flavor fades to a savory anise aftertaste. This is a very odd tea, but overall pleasant and absolutely wonderful for a sore throat, even without honey.
I really love the throat therapy . I have always enjoyed the IHG s tea in the mornings as well as in the afternoons
This blend is hand down the best I have found for throat soreness and an allergic cough. It soothes and warms while tasting delicious. Try it soon!
This tea is great anytime my throat gets scratchy or sore. It is so soothing and it tastes good too.
I like the taste of this. I once had some licorice tea, and this tastes similar, though not quite so strong. Still quite strong though, so if you don't like licorice, you probably won't enjoy it. It seemed to help my throat with some discomfort from the very dry winter. I'm interested to see if it helps with my allergy symptoms (I mostly get a sore throat) come spring.
Great for when you have sinus congestion or an itchy throat. Good flavor.
This tea is a life saver this winter! It reminds me of the herbs in the homemade cough syrup that I make!
Earthy licorice sweetness with a fun tingly mouth feel. The licorice flavor isn't as overpowering as in some throat-coat teas I've tried, which I consider a positive. Lemon goes well with it, adding a bit of bright acidity, which is good because you'll probably want lemon in your throat-coat tea! Speaking of the medicinal benefits, I'm not 100% sure it actually works BETTER on my throat than other kinds of hot tea with lemon do, but it's at least doing something and it tastes pretty good, so I'll take it.
It works. It's not my favorite tea for flavor, but it's my favorite for making my throat happy.
Really helped my throat feel better with a little honey added to it as well
I got the to be prepared for the inevitable sore throat that comes around during the winter months. I gotta say, this has worked perfectly! The second I feel a scratchy throat coming I brew this up, add some honey and it's delicious! Definitely recommend!
Very soothing for the throat, smooth and delicious
A great tea for when my allergies are bothering me.
For a 'medicinal' type tea, I think this tastes really good. The raspberry leaves help to add some freshness to the brew. This tea helped soothe my very sore throat when I had COVID.
Great blend! It does the job when you have a sore throat!
I love this and drink it all the time! it's sweet and doesn't need any sugar.
Overwhelming sweet but not in a good way. It did help with my sore throat and was still better tasting than a cough drop.
its too bitter for me, sadly i will not be buying this again
Super sweet on its own with nothing added and genuinely did help me combat some past nasal drip. Will certainly order again and I would IV this into my body if I could, that's how good it tastes.
I bought this tea for the office. It has been a great tea for when you are starting to feel under the weather.
This tea is soothing and delicious. This is by far the best tea I have found if you have a sore throat or you're just not feeling so great.
This was all I drank last month when I had a cold. Add some honey and it's the perfect ointment to a sore throat.
With a family of 7, this is a definite go to for soothing throats from sickness and a great pick-me-up after long hours of rehearsals for stage performances! As singers and actors, your throat and voice are your life. Cherish yourself and take care of your throat.
This tea has a wonderful soothing texture and delicate sweet undertone that needs no assistance from cream or sweetener! Try it today and you, too, will be hooked.
Very good product for dry, sore throats. Keeping extra for winter.
Very effective! I tried this tea with a sore throat and I felt so much better by the end of the cup. There is strong, medicinal flavor. Personally I don't mind that particularly when I'm feeling unwell. Not going to be my first choice when reaching for a favorite cup to relax with but will definitely be a good thing to have in the cupboard when feeling a little under the weather.
