This one is not for me. I don’t know what isn’t clicking. I like a lot of these ingredients on their own!
The aroma from the packet was most prominently a softer cinnamon and cocoa/nuttiness. After steeping, it almost had an umami character to it, especially on the palate, but it didn't compete with the cinnamon/nutty/cocoa goodness. It was just a really interesting complexity, and I enjoyed it. I still forgot to try a cold-steep like I said I would last time, but I don't care. It's really good hot. Steeped 5 min @ 195º.
The aroma is warm and inviting, with hints of chocolate, spice, and nuttiness. The flavor is complex and satisfying, with a smooth and malty base from the black tea, a roasted and earthy note from the mate tea, a sweet and spicy kick from the cinnamon, a subtle and bitter edge from the cocoa nibs, and a floral and nutty finish from the safflower and kola nuts. The tea has a full-bodied and creamy mouthfeel, and a lingering aftertaste that keeps you wanting more. Jump Start is a tea that lives up to its name, as it delivers a delicious and stimulating cup of tea that will awaken your senses and invigorate your mind. Jump Start is a tea that will make you feel ready to take on the day, no matter what challenges you face. 🌞
This is not my favorite mate blend; but it did its job of bringing me fully awake this morning. I would prefer more black tea and cinnamon in this mix; as the mate was so dominant, it kind of tasted flat. But did it live up to it's name? Absolutely.
I like toasted mate and it was tasty in today's blend. Not something I'd purchase, but I'd drink it again if offered.
Great flavor. Good caffeine. Will likely buy again but, it isn’t coffee
When I don’t want to deal with coffee this is my go to. Also great for an afternoon pick me up. And the flavor is to die for… or kill for. Either way someone should die for this tea. What was I talking about? Oh yeah, HIGHLY recommend.
This is definitely the jump start you need to get your morning going give it a try for sure!
WOW! Not kidding about jump starting your day. The caffiene is strong with this one. Very pleasant taste of cocoa, with toasted notes throughout. The only issue I have with it is a little bit of cinnamon that lingers. Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants a morning tea :)
I order this when it shows up half-off in my 'Try-me' section. It's pretty good, but has a bit of a weird aftertaste.
Jump Start has an amazing aroma, but the taste is just ok, not my favorite. I can never seem to finish drinking it before it becomes room temperature, so I cannot say how much energy it gives.
This is my go to tea after a bad night’s sleep. It tastes good, and wakes me up without the heartburn coffee can give me.
Not what I was expecting, in a good way. Flavorful, but not overpowering. Mix of tea and nibs made for a delightful cup, with or without milk.
One of my favorites when I’m craving coffee in the morning!
I love this tea. It's packed with caffeine and flavor. I'm toying with dropping coffee for tea in the morning because I'll make a cup of coffee and drink only half of it. Tea is my passion. So many varieties and I like drinking several cups a day.
Not a bad tea with a mild blend of cinnamon and chocolate in the background. I do wish the flavors were a little more bold.
Today's CommuniTea packet is jump start with toasted mate, black tea, cocoa nibs, kola nuts, cinnamon and safflower. I love cocoa and cinnamon, and the aroma was strong. But they weren't enough to overcome the taste of the mate. Brewed in 12 ounces of 160-degree water for four minutes.
This was a pretty good blend, though I didn't feel like it gave that much of an energy boost. Then again, I tend to drink fairly strong coffee.
Really liked the black tea richness with the tastes of cinnamon and cocoa. Helped jump start my day in a big way
This is a really interesting earthy blend with a nutty flavor. I love the energy boost!
When you open the packet it smells amazing but it just wasn't for me.
This tea is good but it just didn’t have the flavor pops that I was expecting from the list of ingredients and from other people’s reviews. Therefore, I must conclude that it is just that my packet maybe came up a bit short on cinnamon and cocoa flavors. It may be because I steeped it at 195 for 3 minutes because I didn’t want it to be bitter. Perhaps a little longer steep would have helped. None the less, it’s still an enjoyable cup.
This tea smelled better than it tasted, but it was still worth trying at least. Added extra cinnamon and some dark agave to try and boost the lighter cinnamon and malt notes present, but nothing could quite overcome the dominant woodiness of it.
Tea had nice flavor. I'm not a big Mate fan as I get my daily dose of caffeine in my morning coffee. I prefer lighter teas throughout the day. That being said I enjoyed the tea very much, just can't do too much caffeine.
Jump start is kin of nutty with a good dose of cinnamon and cocoa nibs. Very tasty.
It tastes like liquid dark chocolate and gives you a quick caffeine boost.
I got more of an earthy and nutty flavor from this tea. I really couldn’t taste much of the cinnamon or chocolate flavors in my sample packet that others described.
1-11-23 Update
I tried this again with a splash of vanilla creamer. It brought out the cinnamon a little, which I appreciated. Still not a favorite, but great for an energy boost!
So enjoyable! Had not had mate before and enjoyed this experience. Definitely needed a pick up today and this was the warming, earthy blend I needed. It's definitely in the chai direction on the tea wheel, with its cinnamon top note on the aromas, but more restrained. Bought teabags to stash in my desk drawer for when green tea just isn't enough.
This blend has a woody, earth flavor that I really like. I love the caffeine boost too! I do wish the cinnamon did come through a bit more.
I was pleasantly surprised since I have never had a mate tea. The chocolate and cinnamon flavors are smooth and not overpowering. Too bad this has so much caffeine, it would be great right before bedtime.
This tea (both steeps) went down nicely enough this morning, and I definitely felt the caffeine buzz afterwards; but there was nothing special or striking about the taste of the tea. I give it a thumbs up but I don’t really have any need to drink it again. I steeped at 190 degrees for 4 minutes the first time and 3 minutes for the second one.
CommuniTEA portion: Steeped at 212 for 7-1/2 minutes. Honestly not my favorite tea but I don't seem to be a fan of mate I have discovered. Gave it a whirl though. The subtle cinnamon and chocolate notes were enjoyable but not enough for my personal taste buds. Thanks for the adventure though!
I really enjoyed this tea! When I opened my CommuniTea packet, I noticed the aroma of the cocoa nibs and the nuttiness of the mate with a hint of cinnamon. I steeped the tea for about 4 minutes. The flavor of the tea is an incredible combination of the nutty mate, chocolate, and cinnamon. Definitely gave me a nice boost going into the afternoon! Will definitely order this again in the future!
The classic combo of cocoa and toasted mate is always a winner in my book, but the twist of cinnamon takes this blend to a new level! Mate like me fans will love this blend :)
nice. mostly cinnamon, 'oh yeah it's mate' aftertaste. not my thing but not bad.
This was a pleasant surprise given how strong the mate smelled. The main flavor was a sweet cinnamon with a slightly herbally undertone. I couldn't fully detect the chocolate, but I liked it exactly how it was. I added a little vanilla oat milk and sweetener to my cup and it was gone in a flash!
Caveat - not a big matte fan.
This tea was okay - nothing really jumped out and got me excited about it. I woke the matte first then used 195 water and it brewed fine but no real chocolate flavour. Matte fans are more likely to enjoy this.
Unaltered tasted to me like cinnamon dishwater. (I’m sorry) I had to add a decent amount of cream and sugar to make it drinkable, but then it tasted like the milk from a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
It's a pretty crisp but has the after taste of big bs energy Shot there. It's not a bad tea and think alittle milk might do it good with the zip notes but overall a good teA!
This tea is very earthy. The aroma out of the packet was very cinnamon dominant but the cinnamon flavor was actually quite mellow. This is a very unique tea.
I love mate and cinnamon...add the two together? A piece of heaven. 🤩
Not my thing unfortunately. It tastes like Szechuan peppers and twigs with a touch of cocoa. Interesting but I am not going to be able to finish this one.
Update: This tea has grown on me since the last time I had it. I didn't add any milk at all this time and find it enjoyable.
When I opened this bag, the smell was yummy. I steeped it for about three and a half minutes and added a bit of my macadamia nut milk. It was tasty though not for me.
A lovely morning blend. I normally don’t like toasted mate, but there is a complimentary sweetness that tempers it out. It definitely woke me up quick and helped me get a start to my day!
A nice invigorating cup of tea with a mild nutty flavor and an underlying taste of cinnamon.
In the bag: Mostly the thin black leaves of ceylon and the dark brown flakes of mate. A few mid-sized kola nuts, which remind me of walnuts but darker. I don't see any cocoa nibs, but they could be hiding. A single huge saffron flower - not just single petals, but an entire flower!
On the nose (pre-steep): Nuts and chocolate are the main flavors. The chocolate seems semi-sweet and the nuts remind me of plain, unsalted peanuts.
On the nose (post-steep): Cinnamon has appeared and jumped into first place. That plain peanut scent has taken second place. No more chocolate flavor.
On the tongue (pre-sweetener): Nutty notes have retaken the lead. This is a combination of walnut and peanut. Almost no cinnamon.
On the tongue (post-sweetener): No change.
Opinion: A unique and pleasing blend. The nutty flavors are unusual in tea but quite tasty in this arrangement. The cinnamon is an excellent pairing and I wish more of it made it to the taste.
Preparation: 3 min @ 195 ℉, ½ tsp monk fruit sweetener
This was my first introduction to mate tea and we made friends right away. Mate always sounded exotic and now I know it's a friendly choice when blended with two of my favorite flavors, cinnamon, and chocolate.
The tea in today's CommuniTEA packet had distinct aromas of cinnamon, chocolate, and woodsy notes. The dry tea made a beautiful array of nuts. nibs, herbs, and tea leaves in various shades of brown and russet.
I steeped two steeps per directions at 212F for 7 min. each to make two cups of a beautiful golden dark brown tea. Upon the first sip, I detected a slightly earthy taste of mate made sweeter and more flavorful by the kola nuts, cinnamon, and chocolate. The other ingredients, black tea and safflower, were not as aromatic but added to the complexity of flavors.
I drank my first cup plain and enjoyed it. For my second steep, I added milk and sugar to smooth all flavors and quiet the woodsy flavor of the mate for a wonderful sip. I didn't notice any caffeine-fueled jump start from drinking this, however, this tea was a welcome discovery and a nice change from my usual coffee/black tea choices.
I like this tea it has a good toasty cinnamony flavor but I feel like Neil Peart from Rush is doing a drum solo in my chest, that caffeine has my eyeballs jitterbuging!
UPDATED from, 1/1/22: What a woody aroma from the CommuniTEA packet. I rinse the ingredients slightly with cold water to wake up the mate, then steep them at 190ºF. The tea is a lovely cloudy amber. The flavor is smoky, nutty, and earthy at the same time. The cocoa nibs are helping bring some bite, but with maple syrup and heavy whipping cream, this entire cup settles down into a creamy roasted delight. It steeps well twice, and is bold and heavy enough to be filling, like a meal. (Quick cold rinse, then 5 mins @ 190ºF + maple syrup and cream).
This is a great way to start your day. Soothing flavor and that jump you may get from coffee but no jitters.
