UPDATED: It's a cosy tea still, but it's not quite hitting the spot for me like it did before. I think I'm comparing it to the Slumbering Sloth tea, which I very much enjoy. I like the flavour profile of that one better, but this would still be a good backup sleepytime tea.

Cosy and comfy all at once. It's a very relaxing blend, and I enjoyed it during the day, but it would be a perfect nightcap as well.

I can't actually sample this tea because of the inclusion of valerian in the blend. It can interact with medication I take. The smell of the tea leaves is very similar to other 'sleepy' teas I've tried in the past. I think I would find the flavor ok if I was able to drink this so I am giving it 3 stars.

I'm sure this is great for people who like this sort of thing, but it just doesn't match my tastes.

UPDATE from 11/12/21: Lovely aroma of mint and chamomile emits from the CommuniTEA packet, and this steeps into a golden amber color. I cannot stand chamomile tea anymore - that comes from drinking only Celestial Seasoning's Sleepytime tea for years (my sister worked for the company, and it was one of the only teas I could buy in the store). However, this tea is delicious. I am really enjoying it, and hope it puts me to sleep. The various ingredients are able to mask the chamomile. Adding a little sweetener (¼ teaspoon to 10 oz) makes the flavors blend even better. It does not brew well more than once, however, so that is something to keep in mind. (8 mins @ 212ºF + sweetener).

I love this unique tea. There’s a predominant valerian taste on the front end.

I enjoyed 40 Winks right before bed. It was calming as expected. I enjoy the chamomile, lavender, spearmint, and lemon grass combo. I added Stevia Monk Fruit blend to assist in my embrace of the valerian root. Overall, this one was a good option before bed. Happy sipping!

I didn’t mind this one at all. I was skeptical at first. The spearmint was very forward in both smelling the packet and drinking the tea.

40 Winks
UPDATE: CT March 13, 2023
I’m not comfortable drinking teas with Valerian root in them so I passed on this blend. However, I did take another look at the ingredients in this tea and found that if it weren’t for the Valerian root, I would most likely enjoy this tea. Since this is the case, I’m upgrading my rating to 4 stars.
****************************
40 Winks
Due to the warnings on the 40 winks listing, I’ve decided to pass on this blend. I’m leery about drinking anything with Valerian root in it. Since I won’t be drinking it, I’ll give it a middle of the road 3 star rating with the caveat, that, given the ingredients, it sounds like it could be a very nice blend for those who don’t mind Valerian root.

My favorite time to consume this tea is in the evenings. 40 winks is such a wonderful blend, hot or warm. It is soothing to sip and the aroma when you open the package is relaxing itself. The flavor coming from the steeped chamomile creates a mellow, honey-like sweetness in the cup. The Valerian Root is amazing and immediately begins to relax every part of my body even before I finish the cup. I can detect a slight woodsy perfect taste from my cup. This is one of those wonderful tea blends that I will keep on hand for myself...and maybe, just maybe I might share!

Dreamy herbal bliss. The spearmint is perfect for mellowing out the pungent valerian and chamomile, and making the whole thing drinkable so you can enjoy all the calming benefits. I definitely keep some of this on hand for stressful times and anxious nights. It hasn’t failed me yet.

Update - since trying his tea through CommuniTEA, I purchased a sample size to try it more extensively. I suffer from ADHD and in the midst of the medication shortage, let me tell you that this is the ONLY thing guaranteed to get me to sleep and to quiet my brain at night, and I’ve tried ALOT of things. About halfway through a cup, which I usually sip in bed while reading, I will feel a soft restful feeling in my feet and legs. About 15 minutes later, I’m dozing off and can’t focus on the words in my book. I shut off the light and I sleep like the dead. It is WONDERFUL for a life long insomniac!
I’m yawning as I write this! This scratches my itch for a late night tea without making me feel guilty for falling asleep before finishing the entire cup

I love this tea It is so soothing and calming. I thought I wouldn't like it because of the valerian root but I was wrong. It also pairs well with the white tea berry cookies. It does not make you fall asleep, it just aids in getting a restful night's sleep.

The tea has a soothing and calming flavor, with a hint of minty freshness from the spearmint and a floral and herbaceous notes from the lavender. The aroma is relaxing and soothing, making it a perfect tea to enjoy before bedtime. The valerian root and chamomile in the blend are known for their sedative properties, helping to promote restful sleep, meanwhile spearmint and lavender have soothing properties that can help calm the mind and reduce stress. The tea leaves are of high quality and infuse well, resulting in a rich and satisfying brew. Overall, I highly recommend this tea to anyone looking for a relaxing and sleep-promoting tea to enjoy before bedtime.

A favorite new tea to wind down to after a long day! Not sure if it has made me sleep any better, but I'm always looking for flavorful decaf options that aren't too tart or too mild

I really don't like the taste of valerian. This blend does a lot to make the tea more palatable. I almost don't notice the bitter aroma or taste of valerian root, but it's still very relaxing.

Very relaxing herbal tea without the mint taste over powering all others. Many over the shelf spearmint teas I've experienced is too minty; not this one. Also, as far as I can read from the ingredients, there is no natural flavor at all. 40 Winks have become my go-to herbal tea.

I prefer this version to the sleep teas you can get at most stores, and also to plain chamomile unless that's truly the only flavor I want to taste. This has both more fruit and flower to it, and tastes mintier to me too. It's very calming.
