The branches of towering trees moan and creak in the silence of the twilight. Prey turns in for the night as nocturnal predators awaken, shadows and reflective eyes passing across the languid rays of light from the rising moon. You hear the cawing of crows in the distance, seeming to gather around a candlelit effigy, rudimentary and hastily constructed of sticks, twine, and what appears to be a skull of a long since passed bovine creature. Suddenly, you hear a haunting, preternatural howl echo in the trees as murders of crows start to swarm the small clearing. A horned silhouette moves slowly, lithely, through the trees -- closer and closer still -- and your blood runs cold as you sense the imminent power of something aeons older than even the forest itself.
