The Livestock Conservancy protects endangered breeds of farm animals and the genetic diversity they represent. Its work supports the conservation of heritage livestock and poultry through research, education, technical resources, and partnerships with breeders and farmers. The organization tracks breeds at risk, shares information about their characteristics and conservation needs, and helps people participate in maintaining viable populations. These animals carry traits shaped by generations of farming and adaptation to different environments. By supporting the people who raise them and increasing awareness of their value, The Livestock Conservancy helps preserve agricultural heritage and important options for the future of food and farming.
