The story goes... Tsar Mikhail Fedorovic Romanov was gifted Earl Grey black tea by the Chinese ambassador to Moscow. Mikhail accepted it with grace but privately found the tea too bitter to drink. In attempts to please the Tsar, his chef started blending the tea with different items. Eventually, he was successful when blending it with Lemon Grass which highlighted the citrus in the bergamot oil and brought out fruity flavors the Tsar was more familiar with in his tea.
