Rooibos Customer Reviews

Rooibos, sometimes known as "Red Tea" (although not from the actual tea bush), is an herb that grows only in South Africa. Our rooibos is slightly fruity and smooth with a mild, herbal texture. Very forgiving - won't over-steep.

★★★★★

Great basic rooibos. A nice decaf alternative to a regular tea diet.

Very different. I tend to combine it with other different teas to add more flavor.

★★★★★

This is a very nice change from "real" tea. I like it chilled.

★★★★★

I bought this for my father-in-law, he likes his rooibos "naked" with no extra flavor. I have to say we really enjoyed this tea. Very nice taste and also yummy when you drink it cold!

★★★★★

I like to steep this for at least 10 minutes and then drink it straight. Produces a beautiful, fragrant cup of tea.

This is my husbands favorite for iced herbal tea. I like to brew it with Mint for a great iced tea...yummy.

★★★★★

This tea definitly has a distinct character. It is delicious by itself or mixed with herbal teas for flavor.

★★★★★

My husband refused to try loose tea at first and now will not drink anything but the loose tea. He only drinks rooibos so I was thrilled that he loves this one.

★★★★★

My new favorite tea! I can't get enough! It's great alone and spectacular in blends!

★★★★☆

Great earthy taste, very clean and straight forward. Takes getting used to for first timers, but s teaspoon of sugar takes the edge off. Boiling it for 10 minutes or longer dramatically increases the antioxidant activity, and makes for a nuttier cup as well.

★★★★★

This is a great tea in the evening. It smells a little like cold medicine but doesn't really taste like that.

★★★★☆

I gave this tea a good, but its between ok and good. I got this one becasue of its allergy fighting benefits. Its definitely woodsy and less sweeter than the honeybrush. Its good but I have a sweet tooth so I will purchase more of the honeybrush.

This was such a great surprise -- really like the flavour. It brews to a red color, and you don't need to add anything to it (milk, sugar, etc) -- just drink as is. Lovely earthy taste and caffeine-free to boot. Originally, I was attracted to its health benefits --high in flavinoids, and antioxidants -- but now i can see this become part of my tea-loving rituals.

★★★★★

I'm a rooibos lover, and this was a good one. I just ordered more!

★★★★★

It's smooth and bland. It has a woody and earthy taste, and I like it this way.

★★★★★

This had a great woody, natural flavor. I had only ever had rooibos from teabags before, and this is such an improvement!

★★★★☆

This tea easily escapes through and get caught in the infuser because the pieces are so tiny, which is a little annoying. It tastes very good however.

★★★☆☆

OK, but not my "cup of tea" so to speak. I purchased a bunch of samplers and this is one of the ones I gave away after one try.

★★★★☆

It's very woody, but in a good way. It has a smooth, earthy flavor that tastes great when you add something to sweeten it up.

Not really a fan of this tea's taste, but late in the afternon or night when I need to drink a tea without caffine, I turn to this one or the honeybush rooibos.

I actually bought this for my roomate who had roobios for the first time in Africa and never saw it again in the states. He loved it said it was just like what had.

Medicinal smell. Somewhat smooth to drink. Good on occasion.

★★★☆☆

This was my first time drinking unflavored rooibos. It was okay, but sweeter than I'd hoped.

The Adagio Rooibos tea is a good Rooibos tea. It is flavourful, brews well and tastes like a good Rooibos should, but it isn't AS excellent as most Adagio black, white and green teas as I've tried. A store-bought Rooibos tastes almost as good at the Adagio one, whereas for most other teas Adagio has always been head and shoulders and leaves above anything I can find locally.

Earthy and smooth. Even if you don't like tea, trying rooibos would be a good life choice- it has none of the tannins of the tea plant. Best of all, it's very cheap.

★★★★☆

Pretty neat grass drink. I enjoy it once in a while.

★★★★★

Fantastic. It can stain cups though, so watch out.

★★★★★

Best rooibos I've ever had. If you like this try the honeybush too.

★★★★★

I love rooibos and this is a great one! Though I ordered the rooibos mango and a honeybush apricot at the same time and I like both of those better.

★★★★★

I just love this tea. It's a great no caffiene tea that has some body to it.

★★★★☆

This is a good one to try if trying Roobois for the first time.

★★★★★

Drinking this tea brings me back to the time when I would frolick amongst the ostriches of the fynbos after a game of cricket.

★☆☆☆☆

I thought I would try straight rooibos because I've had rooibos and herbal or true tea blends before and have liked them, but this is horrible. It tastes and smells like anise rootbeer.

I enjoy the plain rooibos. I'm not bothered that it does taste a bit bland.

★★★★☆

A solid read tea, fragrant and soothing with spicy undertones. Let steep a minute longer for stronger flavor. If you prefer black teas but are looking for something that's caffeine-free, this is a good choice.

★★★★★

This is hands down the best tea on the website. No sugar or honey needed. Great cold or warm.

★★★★☆

Although rooibos lends itself easily to flavoring, I prefer it by itself. It's beautiful red color is enough to seduce me.

★★★★☆

A very good, soothing, and earthy tea. Not my personal favorite, but great for a relaxing, late night cup.

★★★☆☆

It's probably a perfectly good rooibos; I just haven't developed the taste for it. I felt like I was drinking sawdust tea.

★★★★★

rich, woody flavor. i love all the rooibos flavors; they're my favorites

★★★★☆

Rooibos is a fantastic herbal teasane that has a bold taste, but that is also oddly delicate.

★★☆☆☆

I did not like rooibos. It tasted like a mix of sawdust and straw. Perhaps it is better flavored but would not pay for this tea substitute even if it was flavored after my experience. Perhaps with time I will acquire the taste but for right now it is not my thing.

★★★★☆

Good generic rooibos. Great for mixing with yerba mate to add an earthy red flavor.

★★★★★

Very good quality rooibos. The longer you brew it the stronger and more flavorful it becomes.

★★★★☆

The first sip I did not love but after a full cup, I quickly made another. Acquired taste for sure...but quite lovely. After my 2 cups I noticed that my teeth were pretty stained. Maybe I'm just vain. Drink a cup while reading The #1 Ladies Detective Agency series and you'll enjoy it all the more.

★★★★☆

Nice woody flavor. Pleasant, though I think I prefer honeybush for it's warmer tones.

★★★★☆

Woody with a lot of tannins, but if you like tannins this is a great tea. Definitely order the sample first, and get the honeybush tea as well. You'll probably like one better than the other!

★★★★☆

Rooibos is definitely an aquired taste. I do think it was interesting and am starting to really enjoy it. Most of the time I to mixed it with Citron Green. I'm going to try the Rooibos Earl Grey next.

★★★☆☆

It has a sort of earthy, not-quite-bitter flavor I'm not a huge fan of, but it was fair.

★★★★★

This is the first time I have ever tried real rooibos, and I am passionately in love. It is warm, rich, and hearty--it almost tastes as if it's got protein in it. :) It almost reminds me of Suntory whiskey; not that it tastes of alcohol, but rather that unique, full, sweet, brightness. Really, really excellent; my search for a low-caffeine alternative has ended; now to try all the variants I can find!
