Rooibos Customer Reviews

Rooibos, sometimes known as "Red Tea" (although not from the actual tea bush), is an herb that grows only in South Africa. Our rooibos is slightly fruity and smooth with a mild, herbal texture. Very forgiving - won't over-steep.

Rooibos tea is the tea of choice for me during the summer. I like it hot or cold!

★★★★☆

The basic rooibos is decent, but I prefer it with vanilla. Seems to work better as a base to flavor with.

This tea is lovely. It smells a bit like raisin in the bag, and brews up slightly sweet and floral, almost like hibiscus but without the tartness. Much better quality than what I associate with bagged Rooibos teas, and a great alternative to black tea. I can't wait to try it flavored.

★★★★☆

I always have at least a sample pack of Rooibos on hand to mix with flavored black tea or flavored Rooibos tea to create a custom blend. Smooth taste.

I have had my share of rooibos. This one is ok for such a cheap rooibos, but I get nothing special out of it. In its defense, it is a great base to mix with!

★★★★★

An excellent rooibos tea. It's not the typical red sawdust you find at the grocery store--it's great quality. Wonderful in a latte or on its own.

★★★★☆

This tea is a bit bland by itself. I'm not to thrilled with it.

★★★★★

Rooibos is my go-to afternoon tisane. Flavors are ok, but straight up is still my favorite.

I'd never had a rooibos before, and while it's not my favorite, it has an interesting nutty flavor. Like other reviewers have said, the aftertaste was a bit medicinal.

★★★★★

Warm enough for winter, exotic enough for summer, and caffeine-less - for any time of day.

If you'd like to enjoy a versatile infusion that won't keep you up at night, this is the one.

This is a nice tea. All I want is a nice simple tea that is not mixed with other flavors. This tea is perfect. Good flavor and not too expensive. Sometimes I get a little fancy and add fresh ginger. He, he, he.

Ah..red rooibos, a classic drink I cannot kick. For you may just be a shrub, your brew is naturally sweet and enticing to my pallet.Rich in nutrition, you are a wonderful caffeine-free alternative to other beverages out there. In case you all didn't get it, I love my red Rooibos.

This is the first time I've tried roobios. It tastes like black tea with a slightly medicinal smell and aftertaste. I think that it is an aquired taste.

★★★★★

I have only had flavored rooibos so I decided I should try just plain, and I was not disappointed! It's a delicious, sweet flavor. The aroma is wonderful as well.

★★★☆☆

To be honest, I found the smell to be rather off-putting. The dry leaves had a slightly minty smell, but the brewed tea smelled almost exactly like Robitussin. It tasted alright with a bit of sugar, but it's not something I'd order by itself again.

Love roobios, just love it. The nutty flavor especially!

★★★★★

taste real good. my kids love this tea. that's why i keep buying...

★★★★★

I like to mix this with combinations of cacao nibs, mint, hibiscus, and sometimes a strong or smokey black tea. This rooibos tastes as good as others I have had.

If you like rooibos, you'll like this. There isn't much more to say. It's a plain, loose, quality rooibos with no unpleasant flavors.

This rooibos is very fine and a little tricky to strain. I pour it through a coffee filter when I want a completely particle free cup, but usually I just let them sink neatly to the bottom.

★★★★★

One of my favorites. I love that it is caffeine free. I add a bit of honey or rock sugar and it's delicious.

This is certainly rooibos. I have only had loose rooibos once before and I honestly don't recall and significant difference. This stuff is good and certainly worth the price.

I really didn't like this tea. It had a very medicine-y smell and taste. Sugar helped, but neither my brother or I liked this tea very much.

Red tea is my favorite tea, and I was very pleased with Adagio's rooibos. The natural nutty and sweet flavor requires no sweetening, honestly, but a bit of honey really brings out the flavor (I use a spoonful for a 16 oz. mug). If you like red tea, I recommend making this a regular order.

I was born in South Africa and have grown up with Rooibos and it is easily my favorite drink. Very Tasty. elliot f. pretty much summed up my feelings on this tea, but I have a few things to add. It is good with milk and honey, but is traditionally also drank black with a slice of lemon. Some people have a dedicated kettle where they will simmer the tea all day and add more water and tea as the hours go by. However, my grandparents prefer Rooibos much weaker than I do, so keep that in mind if you initially do not agree with the flavor. One last thing concerning Honey Bush. HB is really good and comes in with brighter notes while Rooibos is deeper and more earthy. I feel the mixture of the two in equal proportions complete and complement each other. Definitely give it a try.

I love a good simple rooibos and this one fits the bill. It steeps well to a beautiful dark red and goes deliciously with stevia and almond milk.

★★★☆☆

It is ok, I like honeybush better. I will use it as a base for fruit teas.

Nice smell and texture. Had a nice smooth and robust flavor. Mixed with blood orange tea and a tsp of sugar, tasted excellent together. By itself, it also tastes excellent, is an acquired taste. Highly recommended and its great that adagio's rooibos is organic!

★☆☆☆☆

I don't know what it was but the smell wasn't pleasant to me and the taste was even worse! (no surprise since we taste with our nose!) This was a huge disappointment after most people rave about it.

A good basic rooibos. Will try adding other ingredients to it.

Rooibos is a nice alternive to regular tea. While it's not extraordinary on its own, it has a smooth, herbal taste that goes well with pretty much anything.

★★☆☆☆

Not one of my favorites. I like green rooibos instead. Tastes like medicine.

This is a great alternative to tea when I don't want caffeine. It has a nice, smooth taste with a hint of sweetness. I'm so glad I decided to try it.

Not as strong as some rooibos' I have had, but maybe I will get more density of flavor out of some more steeping time. Sweet all on its own and really wonderful with a tiny but of agave nectar. Will definitely be buying full amounts after I finish my sample.

I've recently discovered rooibos because I need to cut back on caffeine. This stuff has been a godsend. I'm still not sure how to pronounce it...roo-eee-boss or row-oi-bos...but I'll learn.

This is not one of my favorites. It has a medicinal taste to it. I tried it both hot and cold and didn't care for it either way.

It reminded me of teaberries and Clark's Teaberry gum. I don't smoke, but it smelled good like unburnt tobacco. The tea is fine, so a bit goes through the strainer. Sometimes I don't want caffeine, and this fits the bill. It never got bitter even when brewed for an hour. Steeping the leaves twice worked OK, but the second steep needs to be a lot longer. When I drink it in the evening, it does make me a bit tired.

★★★★☆

A great fruity, floral scent on the nose. Roobios definitely is my cup of tea and recommend it!

★★★★★

I finally found the cure to my coffee addiction!!! Deliciously sweet.

For those who like bagged rooibos, this tisane is fantastic. Super cheap, no caffeine, and goes great with honey. Slightly muscatel. That being said, straight rooibos is not for everyone. I recommend sampling rooibos first before buying.

My favorite tea in the the whole world. I love it!

★★★★★

Love this Tea...smooth and great at night when you don't want the caffine

★★★★★

I sent this tea to a friend with a colicky baby because I read that it helps them sleep. She said it helped a lot. I drink it myself when I'm having trouble sleeping. It's a really soothing drink.

★★★★☆

oaken with a big bite of vanilla. a very tasty beverage in its own right, but I'm glad I don't have to use it as a tea replacement!

★★★★★

I'm a huge fan of rooibos, and this is definitely one of the best I've ever had. I can't say enough good things about it.

★★★★★

My all-time favorite tea. I'm glad it's so cheap, because I need 2-5 cups of this stuff daily. Don't mess around with any of the flavored blends (esp. the vanilla - yuck), the original is perfect. If you make multiple brews in a row (I don't know how you couldn't), keep the steeped tea and just add half as much as you normally would. South African style, brews get better as the day goes on. Milk and honey for me, but part of this tea's charm is its versatility. Go wild.

Prior to trying Adagio's rooibos, I had only had one unfortunate rooibos experience with a rather poor quality variety from the grocery store a few years ago. I wanted to give real rooibos a try though, so I ordered a sampler of this, and I am very glad I did so! This is a fantastic tisane! It has a wonderful, unique flavor, naturally sweet and aromatic, and I will look forward to enjoying more rooibos varieties from Adagio in the future!

I love this tea with lemon! I drink this every time I have a cold and it really helps with my symptoms.

★★★★★

I love this rooibos. It is my staple tea. I've learned to steep it longer than 10 mins, and it mellows out.

★★★★★

Next to Mate this is my favorite tea. It's a great tasting tea that also has many nutritional benefits. I'm currently fighting a nasty cold, and Rooibos has been my savior thus far.
