Didn't know what to expect, but my taste buds were not pleased. I may try the others that contain flavors but not any time soon.
Rooibos, sometimes known as "Red Tea" (although not from the actual tea bush), is an herb that grows only in South Africa. Our rooibos is slightly fruity and smooth with a mild, herbal texture. Very forgiving - won't over-steep.

I had never heard of this tea, but it is a very mild tasting tea. Low caffeine and the mild flavor makes it a great tea to mix with another tea that has a bold flavor that you like.
This is a very good tea that needs little to no sugar and is not subject to over-steeping. I will definitely buy more of this in the future.
I love this tea for all of the health benefits. I feel im making the right choice when i drink it. Its a very earthy and robust taste .
first off, lets all agree on 2 things.
1.) this is one freaky tea
2.) this is an acquired taste if there ever was one
everytime i brew this, i enjoy it a little more. despite the smell from the bag being more then a little off putting
in fact, right out of the bag, it smells like robitussin...wait... rooibos.. robitussin, rubi-, roobi.. DEAR GOD IT'S EVOLVING LIKE THE POKEMANZ!
I love rooibos, it's probably my favorite herbal tea. It's kind of medicinal, but not gross like medicine. More like medicine for the soul.
The flavor is earthy and dark, with hints of raisins and wood.
I make iced tea with this when I don't want the caffeine. Delicious.
I tried the honeybush around the same time that I tried the rooibos. This rooibos has a much deeper flavor in my opinion.
not a fan of straight red rooibos, but that's just me. Very good quality though.
The Adagio rooibos is a bit better quality than I can get in bulk at Whole Foods.
I tried this after I tried honeybush. It's not bad, but it reminds me a little of the smell of chewing tobacco. Kind of sweet in a strange way. I'm still undecided on this one. I'll edit my review if I change my mind.
It is standard plain rooibos - I like it best with a splash of milk after dinner as a warm dessert-esque drink!
not loving this tea. for now at least, my favorite cup of tea is some black ceylon.
A great rooibos, makes a dark red liquor with no dusty aftertaste like some other rooibos teas.
This rooibos tastes good. I have become accustomed to another brand of rooibos, so this one doesn't necessarily jump out at me. It is great as a base for tea blends involving honeybush, vanilla, and toasted flavors.
Rooibos is definitely a 'tea' that everyone should try. It was strange the first time I tried it, but it definitely grew on me. If you do not like it hot, try it as an iced tea. The natural vanilla-like flavor really stands out when it is iced.
Really fresh and flavorful. Exactly how Rooibos should taste! Very rich and sweet with honey, bourbon, caramel, earthy/rooty and vanilla flavors. Almost smells like it could be part of a barbecue sauce! Doesn't need to steep super long because of how flavorful it is.
I was very put off by the unexpected cough medicine aroma of this herbal. The flavor is definitely that of fruit juice and herbs, but it's an unpleasantly bitter herbalness. The particles are also extremely fine, too fine for my infuser. I had to decant the brew through a cotton cloth.
Deep, rounded aroma is definitely a wake-up to the senses, even though this has no caffeine. Normally I don't like anything quite that dark-fruity, but this time I found the taste quite pleasant. I've heard people talk about rooibos being astringent, but this really wasn't. I found the flavor a little on the fruity side, but very mild and rather calming. A good bedtime tea. Beautiful-looking red cup to. My only complaint? Those dern fine tea leaves are SO hard to clean! Don't make it with a strainer that doesn't have extremely fine holes!
I haven't tried this yet by itself, because I keep using it mixed when I feel like a 'milder' version of another flavored rooibos or honeybush, or I add it to a cup of flavored rooibos that I've steeped a few times, but want to get 'one more' cup from. One of these days I'll try it by itself!
I love that I can brew a pot of rooibos and give it to my toddlers. We drink it all day long and I know that we're all getting the health benefits of the tea!
I drink this tea chilled everyday because it is so refreshing. I steep it, bottle it up and drink it while I work out. Instead of the recommended 8 glasses of water a day, I drink this instead and it goes down very easily. It is ALWAYS in my refrigerator. It is so good for you that I feel as if I really taking good care of myself when Rooibos is part of my day.
An excellent Rooibos by a farmer that knows his stuff! Rooibos is not to everyone's taste, but you should at least try a sample. Adagio also provides 'flavored' rooibus that can be mixed with this if you'd like to do so. (I've added the rooibos vanilla, about 1/3 to 2/3rds plain, for a fragrant cup that's not too overpowering.
It's wonderful to trust the seller and wonderful to know the artisan behind it. Thanks, Adagio!
What can I say, I am honestly just not a fan of rooibos. I want to be, and I'm sure some of the flavored varieties are nice, but when the base is something I don't enjoy, I just have to pass. It smells strongly of what I'd consider hay, and taste just about the same.
I personally like rooibos tea when I dont want to get on a caffine high. This is quality tea!
I was sent this as a free sample. It was too earthy for my taste on its own, so I ended up blending it with chai spices which worked well.
As my first taste of rooibos I'll try not to be harsh with it but I can't get away from the unpleasant taste of a wet straw bale.
This rooibos is sweet, earthy, and smooth with slightly citrusy notes. It's delightful alone or blended with other teas. Completely delicious.
Love love love this tea. I drink it hot and iced. The weather is starting warm and its really refreshing as an iced drink.
Admittedly, you have to like the taste of rooibos to enjoy this brew. I do, so I like the plain rooibos flavor. Others may prefer to try one of the flavored rooibos blends.
Smelling the tea in the bag I get a very pine-y scent. After brewing, that scent and flavor stick around, giving it this lovely, woody flavor. I mostly drink sweeter or flavored teas, so this is a pleasant change of pace. I'll try adding honey next time.
Good solid Rooibos. I find this to be my favourite Rooibos around.
Wow, what a delightful tea. The dry leaves have sweet hints of tobacco, and the flavor profile is sweet and earthy, just as I was looking for.
This tea is wonderful! From the moment I opened the package I feel in love with the rich earthy aroma that came from the bag. The deep earth red and the rich sent takes me back to childhood and playing in the dirt.
tea that inspires positive memories while providing a rich, earthy flavor is tops on my list.
I drink this every day.
I honestly do not like it at all, but that's just me.
first time trying rooibos, and I am pleasantly surprised. on't know exactly how to describe it. I get a fermented type taste with a hint of fruit or honey. Not overly sweet though. Will be ordering more for sure. Has a taste that sticks with you and keeps you wanting more.
I really like this tea, and Adagio makes a good one. If you're not familiar with rooibos, you need to be prepared for the fact that it doesn't have the dark, tannic tastes of typical black teas, but a lighter, woody but almost fruity, taste. Wonderful in warmer weather, or when you'd like something heartier than a green herbal blend but still with no caffeine. Great with a muffin or biscuit.
The tea was ok. I just dont think that rooibos is my cup of tea
This is a great tea that is nice by itself and is naturally sweet.
Interesting smell in the bag, and the tea tastes great! I like the vanilla flavor better, I think, but the original is very delicious, with a strong, rich flavor. Adding honey makes it even better!
Though herbal teas are not to my liking, this one has a very lovely aroma and feeling I find quite satisfying.
really good and simple basic rooibos. good quality and great on its own.
Very earthy in flavor, a 'gentle' sort of taste without any bitterness to it.
Tastes a bit like root beer, which you wouldn't think would be good flat and warm, but it is.
I love this tea. I was concerned at first due to the strong cough-medicine scent, but when I made a cup, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. I have since discovered that this tea is perfect when sweetened with honey instead of sugar or splenda, because the flavors of the tea and the honey mix extremely well.
Very interesting taste/aroma. Coming from a black/white tea drinker. The main way I could describe this taste is of a mild black tea with a potent menthol aftertaste. I don't really enjoy it but I can definitely see the allure. And why not try it? It is a very cheap tea.
Good tasting, makes a nice drink for the evening when you want a non-caffeinated beverage. Like to drink mine with honey.
Pretty much one of my favorite teas of all time. Rooibos is my go-to tea when I need something warm, tasty, and comforting with the added bonus of being caffeine free (I cannot have large amounts of caffeine without getting sick). I drink it almost every day :)
I really like rooibos - even on it's own. After my first cup I mixed it with some forest berries and it was absolutely delicious.
Rooibos always has this strange tobacco-y smell to me, but this is pretty good. It has a little bit of a menthol aftertaste.
