Has a slightly malty, grain-like flavor. My first thought was that it reminded me a bit of malt-o-meal. I liked it. I like it better in some of the flavored variants like the Vanilla, and especially the Lemon Cloud.
Rooibos, sometimes known as "Red Tea" (although not from the actual tea bush), is an herb that grows only in South Africa. Our rooibos is slightly fruity and smooth with a mild, herbal texture. Very forgiving - won't over-steep.

While rooibos flavored teas can be a bit polarizing, I think there's something classic to be appreciated about the plain ol' rooibos. Some have described its flavor as medicinal, and I might even say 'syrupy' but it's the positive elements of both of those flavors, (if you follow me). In the plain rooibos, the earthiness comes through strong, and makes it a tea that's unique and tasty enough that everyone should at least give it a try.
This is my standby caffeine free 'tea'. Rich and earthy and warm, good by itself or with just a touch of honey if you're in the mood for sweet. It's wonderful for blends. I like to make a 1:3 lavender to rooibos mix as a wind-down before bed.
This is the one that got me started on the tea craze. I absolutely love it. I've tried many other teas since, but I always end up finishing my day with a cup of this. If you prefer to sweeten your tea, add a bit of raw cane sugar as it the most complimentary sweetener with this tea IMO.
I'm not a really big fan of rooibos teas. I got this for a friend. She loves it.
First time trying Rooibos, but definitely not the last. Even though I'm not so fond of the smell, it tastes pretty good. I won't say it's my new favourite, but it was a good first impression. Also, I have to say that this one is better without the sugar.
One of my favorite types of tea. I tend to lean towards blends and flavors, but rooibos is one of the few ones I enjoy just on its own. Has a great color and earthy taste, smells a little bit like tobacco to me but in a good way. Great in the evening with a little sugar and milk.
I had never tried rooibos before, and I have to say I like it. Sadly, I discovered I do not drink enough non-caffeinated tea to make buying a lot of rooibos worth my while, but if I ever do decide to get a lot of non-caffeinated teas, rooibos is going on the list.
Very nice tea, with earthy-herbal taste. Good with honey :)
I personally don't like the earthy taste of rooibos, but my bf loves it! it's got a very strong earthy taste. Also very healthy for the body!
The smell of this tea reminds me of my grandfather's chewing tobacco - a fond memory but not an appetizing one. Despite this I've tried the tea twice. It has a green, tobacco-like flavor as well. Perhaps my nose and memory are over-influencing my tastebuds. I don't know. I wanted to like this because it is caffeine-free, but I don't.
Rooibos has a soft, earthy flavor, that I am absolutely in love with. It's mild in weight and taste, and perfect for summer
My friend lived in South Africa and always told me how amazing this tea was, so I decided to try it. Finally. I was practically angry at myself for not trying it sooner as soon as I opened the bag. It smells amazing. Aromatic, earthy, yet still a bit floral, my mom had to drag me away from the brewing tea to go to the store. When I got back, I added a little honey and I still can't believe I've gone this long without trying it. It was amazing.
A good basic rooibos, it's good hot or cold. I like mixing this with other blends
Wonderful flavorful tea for any time of day. Highly recommend.
Rooibos is so good and it is such a fun tea to experiment with. Love mixing this tea with others!
Adagio rooibos is fine. There's nothing out-of-the-ordinary about it. It's simply excellent rooibos.
I love to have plain rooibos on hand to mix in with the different flavors as my supplies dwindle :)
I love all the rooibos tea, easier than most to make and taste so great.
This rooibos tea is aromatic and wonderfully flavored. SO relaxing to enjoy.
This is one of the best rooibos teas I have ever tasted.
I love rooibos teas, especially iced. Rooibos has a great, naturally sweet flavor.
This is just delicious. If you've never had Rooibos tea before, do yourself the favor and try this.
Wonderful tea.
Licorice-like taste, though not as harsh as that. Kind of an acquired taste, though it might go well mixed with other materials.
Please do yourself a favor if you've never tried this tea before...try a sampler first. It's obviously an acquired taste. I'd put the taste somewhere between some strange medicine or licking an infected wound. Bizarre and awful!
One of the best rooibos teas I tried. Very smooth and it's very easy to brew for my non-tea drinking friends.
rich earthy red tea that can steep 2-3 times. I very much recommend this wonderful tea.
It's so GOOD!!! It was free when I ordered my matcha and I'm in love with it!
A good introduction for those wishing to venture into the domain of 'tea alternatives'.
I'm a newbie to rooibos and find that it's a fantastic beverage. If horses could drink hot infused drinks, they'd no doubt sip at this hay liquor. I'm an instant fan, and will be trying out more rooibos blends beyond the basic base blend in the future. Honestly, this was a beautiful experience.
I mostly use this for my infant. It helps him in many ways.
I've been looking for a tea that tastes like this for a while. It tastes -slightly- woody, but being an herbal tea, it is predominately herbal in taste.. I would also describe it as 'grey', as I find its taste falls somewhere between 'light' and 'dark'.
Delicious! That is pretty much all I can say about this tea. I have a feeling it will become a staple tea for me. :)
Clean flavor and worth purchasing when you are looking for a more tame tea. While I drink this alone, I will mix it into some other blends to add a little more depth.
Awesome! Very smooth and sweet tea with a strong flavor. It also mixes well with other herbs.
I got this as a free sample with another order because I was curious. Turns out I really like it! So does my 4 year old daughter and my wife! Glad I tried it. I normally like black tea, but this has expanded my horizons.
Just a typical rooibos, but quite smooth and not bitter like some.
Very nice herbal tea, ideal tea for pregnancy when caffeinated teas should be avoided. Very popular in South Africa for just this reason. My wife drinks 6 cups per day currently :)
My first time trying a rooibos tea, it's pleasant but nothing that I'd celebrate over.
I am still amazed how sweet this tastes as just a plain tea! It is real smooth and as being from a different plant than unusual tea (camellia sinensis) it has different properties like no caffeine and different antioxidants. Gotta give it a try!
Okay, I have to admit. Though I love flavored rooibos teas, plain rooibos is kind of bleh. The smell reminds me of wet mulch, and the taste is kind of woodsy, fruity, and generally confusing. It's definitely much better when its mixed in with something.
First time ever trying rooibos! Opening the package, the tea held an aroma of medicine and fruit, which was strange to me at first. After brewing and tasting it, though, it really soothed my nerves. It was like the tea was coaxing me into a new world of relaxation. Also, I read that rooibos tea is used to treat asthma in Africa, which is a super plus for me!
Rooibos tastes very different from other teas. It is very sweet, almost fruity. It has a sickly note, but that's easily taken care of by adding milk. It tastes good, but I think I'm still getting used to it. I like it better in blends or with flavors.
Rooibos isn't my favorite type of tea but this is a very nice red tea. Good, smooth flavor. Slightly sweet.
A fantastic example of a true to form, great rooibos tea.
Great when you don't want the caffeine to amp you up...
This isn't a tea that I will ever crave, but it was good - earthy and satisfying. Nice to have around for those times I'd like a hot cup of tea before bed.
I enjoy this tea and bought a red tea because of the smaller amount of tannins that are supposed to be in red tea. However, as lovely as this tea tastes, I have noticed the sensation that it dries my throat out a lot with each sip. This will however, NOT keep me from drinking this delicious tea! I will possibly try steeping for a less amount of time.
This is easily the best straight rooibos I've ever had. I'm not usually one to drink rooibos (I bought this mainly to dye my hair) but decided to give this one a try. The flavor is slightly sweet and savory and the tea is wonderfully smooth with a gorgeous red color
