Honeybush Customer Reviews

Honeybush is a sibling of Rooibos, cultivated in South Africa's Eastern Cape region. Its flowers smell of honey, earning this plant a sweet name. Our honeybush is sweet, gently roasted and fuller-bodied than rooibos. Clean and refreshing.

★★★★☆

Very light and sweet tea, you don't need to add honey to this because it already tastes like it has honey. Just have to be careful with what fuser you use with this because the leaves are so tiny they fall through easily.

★★★☆☆

I found this tea to be a bit bland in flavour, which is a bit unfortunate as I was rather excited to try it. I'll enjoy this sample while I have it, but I don't think I'll be buying it again.

Nothing special - I prefer rooibos tea to honeybush, but it certainly wasn't bad.

spicy and warm-tasting, no spices required. Not as calming as chamomile, but an interesting decaf choice.

★★★★★

Honeybush is another great tea with a hint of sweetness that make a that evening cup a treat.

★★★★☆

Good. A nice smooth tea for lazy afternoons or evenings with a good book.

I liked the flavor of this tea. It is kind of woody. I didn't finish the whole cup I made and sipped it again when cold. Still good! I'd be interested in trying it again with some sugar.

★★★★★

Very similar to rooibos, nice red color and has a lovely honey quality to it. Can be imbibed straight and it's fine, but I usually add a touch of cream and honey. Lovely after-dinner or dessert tea as it has no caffeine.

★★★★★

Slightly sweeter and earthier than rooibos. Nice when you don't want to/can't add honey!

★★☆☆☆

Not my tea at all. Sweet in an odd sort of way that doesn't appeal to me at all.

★★★★☆

This honeybush is very similar to the premium organic bagged teas I've tried (only a fraction of the price). It's very hard to over-steep, produces a deep rose-brown color, and is generally a delight to drink!

★★★☆☆

It's okay as a standalone, but I think this would be better in a blend with peach or something similar.

This tea is so incredibly sweet. there's no need for sugar at all. I might try mixing it with some chamomile to balance it out a bit more. It's a great night time tea.

★★★★☆

A spicier cousin to rooibos, I found honeybush to be quite a treat. Worth a drink for sure!

★★★☆☆

This tea is very light and tastes a bit like dirt to me. I don't think I'll be getting this tea again.

★★★☆☆

hmm, I'm still trying to form an opinion about this tea, but it's nice and mild

★★★★☆

Really nice. A little sweet, I like to brew this one a bit long.

★★★★★

I like this tea. It's a solid, plain tea for when I'm feeling uncomplicated. Overall, it's a bright tea - it seemed better suited for a morning tea than an evening tea. I may not drink it plain very often, but I will use it to tone down some of the flavors I have (such as Rooibos Jasmine).

This has a very mild, light sweetness to it. Very good if you don't want something overpowering.

Earthy and great, I brew it strong and add half teaspoon of sugar with a bit of milk. Almost has an irish cream type of flavor to it.

★★★☆☆

Not bad, but not that remarkable. Nothing special here. A nice, simple herbal tea.

★★★★★

This tea is such a delight to drink. This is my second favorite after pumpkin spice

★★★☆☆

I dont really like this. its very plain and plant-y? if thats a word

★★★★☆

This has a nice flavor and alone is good, but I generally like to mix this with other blends to add depth. I tend to like the honeybush teas because of an extra layer of flavor and I would recommend this plain batch as a mixer.

★★★★☆

Lovely tea - a bit subtle. I've been playing around with the brew times but it's great on a cold day.

★★★★☆

A little sweeter and not quite as good as rooibos. But worth a shot if you are a rooibos fan.

★★★★☆

The flavor of honeybush as compared to rooibos is less fruity. It's a sweet, calming drink that's great before bed.

Wow! This was really interesting. It was my first tea of this kind (I've never had rooibos but now I will have to in order to compare). I'll have to admit that the smell of the tea threw me off, as did the flavor at first... but after a cup of it, I got used to it and actually enjoyed it. I have a feeling in time I will probably crave the unique flavor of this tea. I tried it plain and with cream and honey and both were really nice, but I think I prefer it plain. I'm definitely looking forward to trying some honeybush with added flavors! I think that would be really good!

Perfectly good tea, I think I just prefer rooibos.

★★★☆☆

Not the best tea I've ever had. Better when blended with other flavors.

Wine and mahogany! Prepare to experience a hint of both with this tea! I might go as far to say it's yummier than the traditional rooibos. Its a hit!

Okay, this is going to sound just a tiny bit weird, but both hot or cold to me this tea is like comfortable leather. It has an earthy flavor with just a bit of sweetness like relaxing into a leather armchair or pulling out your old baseball mitt. I feel that it doesn't need any additives like sugar or honey, and is very good straight up.

I liked this very much! Sweet, earthy, a nice tea for those of us who aren't so fond of the florals. Since I'm sensitive to caffeine, I also liked that it was caffeine free. It doesn't seem to have whatever batch problems are currently plaguing the hazelnut honeybush (my usual favorite), either. Nice tea!

★★★☆☆

This is an interesting one. It wasn't a bad tea but I like the flavor of rooibus much better. I only had a sample and I don't think I will get any more of this kind of tea.

★★★★★

This is a tea for icing. Cold, thank you! So very sweet already in it's own right. I actually add this tea instead of sugar or honey to other teas. Delicious zero-calorie sweetener, anyone?

★★★★★

Yum! It's sweet and rich. Be careful brewing, it oversteeps quickly.

★★★★☆

This is only rated 'good' because I don't particularly like honeybush as it turns out. Was trying something new, but gave it to my roommate who LOVES it. I think it's better when mixed with honey and milk and she likes it like that and plain

★★★★☆

It's not nearly as exciting as it sounds but this isn't a bad tea. It's tasty. But, you know, not exciting.

★☆☆☆☆

Perhaps one day I'll revisit another sample of honeybush, but as it was a TRAINWRECK in my mouth, I couldn't finish it and moved on to rooibos instead.

★★★★☆

This has a hint of 'hay' that I equate with rooibos, but also a distinct 'honey' and 'fruity' taste. I enjoy it a lot more than I thought i would. A rooibos replacement for me.

★★★★★

always a favorite, blends well with other flavors, and an excellent no-caf evening tea that's fine alone or with cream and honey.

★★★★★

Light, sweet and delicious. Honeybush makes for a refreshing pitcher of iced tea or a sweet and relaxing hot brew. Nearly impossible to over-steep and takes water at a rolling boil without becoming bitter. It lends its own natural sweetness to any cup, becoming even better the longer you brew it. Has a slight floral scent and flavor alongside its sweet notes. One of my favorites, and Adagio has an excellent source for it!

This was a nice afternoon tea. I only got a sample so I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I had liked, can't wait to try some more!

★★★★☆

This was my first experience with either honeybush or rooibos, and I didn't know quite what to expect. It's toasty and nutty, with a detectable note of honey. Good enough to keep me interested. I'll be trying some flavored varieties next.

Tea is fantastic! I have had honeybush hazelnut as well and am equally as satisfied.

Though I'm familiar with and like rooibos, I'd never tried honeybush, so I was excited to get my hands on a sample. It brewed up a lot darker and has more flavor than I expected -- which I consider good! Just a really nice cup with an earthy flavor and an anise-like undertone, which I love. I can't drink caffeinated tea all day long, as much as I'd like to, and honeybush is perfect for that second or third cup in the afternoon. I'll definitely be buying more!

Honeybush is rooibos' sweeter and subtler cousin. This is the best honeybush I've ever tried, hands down.

Smells glorious when brewing, better with a bit of honey.

Honeybush is a great change from tea. The hazelnut variety is my favorite!
