It's a really strong black tea. Great with breakfast
A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor. Freshly damp forest aroma, warm hay inside a barn, mushrooms and savory vegetables. Wilted flower notes and faintly dark chocolate texture.

It's a really strong black tea. Great with breakfast
Lighter than Dante version it is a nice variety for beginners
The Poe is a nice robust cup of tea, we prefer the Dante over the Poe.
Very earthy flavor with a hint of grilled fish. Slightly more intense than the Pu-Errh Dante. It reminds me of sitting at the beach grilling fresh fish.
I am a recent convert to Pu-erh tea but am a huge fan. Love this one very much.
This is not my favorite Pu-Erh. It didn't have the earthy flavor I usually associate with Pu-Erh.
A really good Pu-Erh. This is one of my favorite teas.
Absolutely wonderful earthy tea. It reminds me of playing in the woods when I was a kid. It's also so potent I get 2-3 resteeps out of every batch.
This is the best Pu-Erh tea yet! While it generally tastes the same as the others this is more refined and enjoyable.
Delicious! A nice Pu-Erh that tastes earthy, but not dirty.
I always love the dark, leathery flavor of this pu-erh. It's a great alternative to coffee, which I dislike but still like the caffeine boost! I would say the flavors are slightly more delicate in the way they intermingle in this pu-erh, verses the pu-erh dante.
Great tea, I mix it with other flavors for a little more body
Seem to have a bit of an old taste to it, not old as in aged Pu-Erh either just kind of old.
A nice pu-erh, but not better than the others I ve had, I prefer the hazelberry or tahiti, but if you prefer something more plain, this may be perfect for you.
I really enjoyed this tea. Earthy, and a bit like drinking a dark black tea whilst in an old bookshop.
I like this a bit more than the pu-erh dante! I can't get enough of this tea!
Dark and a bit smokey, Pu-Erh Poe is rightfully considered a classic.
This is an excellent pureh. No extra flavors, just a dark and very earthy tea. I mix this with pureh hazelberry sometimes.
This is an earthy tea. Very good for you. healthy. Great for your digestive system it s fermented, really...
A very unique flavor, kind of hard to describe. It smells almost horse-like, as others have mentioned, but the flavor is very smooth.
This is such an odd tea for me - even trying the rinse method seems fail for me - maybe it's just not 'my cup of tea' :)
Smooth, rich, and clean. This tea has a wonderful earthy/stone flavor and aroma. I steep 1.5tsps in 8oz. of water at 205F for 3min. I have successfully gotten four brews out of this tea, adding 30sec for each successive brew.
I love a good Pu-Erh tea, and this does not disappoint!
This is my go-to tea to bring with me when I go on business trips. Simple, smooth, and a good strong cup every time.
This is my GOTO tea when I really want desert, rich in flavor, not calories.
Tried this after the Yunnan white put erh, this is nothing like that taste
I usually don't like dark, earthy teas, but holy smokes this is fantastic. I think it was even better when I steeped it a second time. I bought the sample but I know I'll be purchasing more.
Would like to know if this Is ripe or raw. I'd like more detail. This is more mild than expected but I do like it.
Great rich flavor, can steep multiple times. Big fan.
As with many pu erhs, this gets mixed reviews from people, and ordering it made me a bit nervous because of the fish smell some people complained of. I had none of that. It's a very pleasant and smooth pu erh, tastes very much like the much more expensive gold, but at a fraction of the price. Definitely stays in my rotation list.
Pu-Erh's are just not for me, of the 3 I've tried thus far this is the best, the old woody flavour is near pleasant but a little too robust for my tastes.
I was a bit worried when I saw reviews talking about a fishy smell / taste when talking about this tea, but I was feeling adventurous and wanted to test it out regardless.
I didn't really get much of a fishy smell at all - definitely not the dry leaves, and maybe just a tiny whiff when giving the tea a quick rinse before brewing.
Overall this is a very earthy and mellow tea that I quite enjoy. Brews to a dark chocolate color and is overall an awesome take on darker teas for me. Will certainly keep drinking into the future.
This was only okay to me. Other Pu-Erh's from Adiago are better.
This is my first foray into pu erh and I have to say, it is really good. The smell is a bit strange which is why I give this a 'good'
Some say it is wasted if not steeped multiple times, but I love the intense flavor and earthiness that a single, long steeping produces. Dark as coffee when steeped in this manner, reminiscent of the forest floor.
Dark, thick, rich taste reminiscent of coffee. Great straight up to get a morning boost or with milk and honey to sooth a long day. So my fave right now!
It's worth it. The flavor changes with different steeps.
My favorite! The tea is smooth and very earthy. I like the way you can get a second brew from the same leaves. This was my first taste of teas from China. I like the slightly smoky flavor. Not too strong, but a bold flavored tea. Much to my liking.
The darkest tea I've ever tried, yet silky smooth.
For the price, I think Dante is a better deal, but both are incredibly good starter pu erh's!
This fermented tea is very smooth, no tannins detectable at all. I asked Adagio and this teas is fermented for 10 years. Pu erh dante is fermented for 5 years. It's not a fragrant tea but people say it's good for reducing cholesterol, controlling weight, etc.
I previously tried Pu erh Dante, and I did not like it at all. However, I decided to give Poe a try, and it is leaps and bounds better!
The dry tea has a very strong nose of ocean - almost like raw shrimp or scallops. While brewing, the smell is very VERY faintly oceanic, and also slightly smokey. The tea is a gorgeous dark reddish-brown - almost like a mahogany.
Upon taking a sip of the tea, it envelopes your sinus in an earthy, seaweed scent. The taste is that of cocoa, sweetened bean paste, and minerals. It also imparts a slightly seawater flavor, but not in a bad way. It is a very complex tea, and while it is not my favorite, I can certainly appreciate its depth and nuances.
Earthy and delicious. Pu erhs are my overall favorite tea type. This is another one I will be making sure to keep in my collection.
my wife loves this stuff! can't get her to try anything else. I use it as one of the flavors in my Kombucha mix
I liked this pu erh. It didn't have quite as potent a forest flavor as I tend to prefer. It seemed a little on the milder side of pu erhs but was still good. I add just a little sugar to this sometimes.
This is another unique flavor that I enjoy. I admit there can be an odd aftertaste I can't put my finger on, but it's only noticeable if you make it really strong. I found myself mixing this with chai mate and thoroughly enjoyed the blend.
I take back all my negative thoughts about pu erh tea after this one. I rinsed the leaves before I steeped them, and my goodness, did it make a difference! The taste is earthy, deep, and rich. I'll second comments from others that it kind of has a smell like a barn, though. I didn't think I'd like it, but I ended up really loving it.
A little less complex than other pu er teas I've had, but does its job well!
Interesting tea, somewhat woody flavor, read about its health benefits and giving it a try
Personally, I like this better than Dante (though that might be because now I know how to brew pu erh properly and didn't have to go through the trial and error process again). It has all the flavor that I came to enjoy in Dante, but more muted and gentle, which makes it much easier to drink. It still has that fishy taste at the beginning, though, so make sure to rinse the leaves in hot water before making your first cup!
