It's so different to most of the teas I'm used to, but it's pleasantly savoury. Still, I enjoyed it.
A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

Very pungent and flavorful, and an amazing and unique cup of tea. In morning I blend with Irish Breakfast Tea to curb its intensity.
This was my very first taste of a Pu-Erh tea. I am a runner and I love spring and summer runs through heavily wooded trails. The scent and taste of this tea was a reminder of the smell of wet earth, trees, and mushrooms. This is easily one of my favorite teas that I have tried from Adagio. I m already looking forward to getting more!
If the potentially fishy smell (result of fermentation) isn't off putting to you, this is a great tea! It's not bitter at all and has good flavor for multiple seeps.
I think this one is just not my taste. I love earthy, herby teas but this one didn’t have a cold enough taste. It smelled really good like it would have a deeper flavor but it just was not there for me.
Smells like dirt. Tastes like dirt and mushrooms, and almost like... if you ve ever tasted a banana peel? But it s all good, trust me. Just try it, it feels earthy and is probably amazing with greasy food. This will cut through the grease of a fried chicken leg blissfully.
Rich, earthy taste. Very flavorful for an uninfused tea.
Very nice earthy flavor! This was my first Pu-Erh and I’m looking forward to trying others.
This is a good, if a little middle-of-the-road, Pu-Erh. I think it would be great for someone new to pu-erhs to see if it is for them. Earthy, pleasant, with no distracting added flavours.
It isn't often that I have tea that is not a blend of some type. This is a pure Pu-erh and the flavor is so deep and enjoyable. Not being a blend it is like a cleansing of the palette. Earthy flavor that is perfect to accompany a meal, a treat, or just by itself. One to be kept as a favorite tea in my collection.
Very smooth, and a pretty red color. Let some folks try some and it converted one of them from a 'black tea only' drinker. It can also be a really great base tea for a mixture. Gonna sound crazy but I mixed this with the beer butter tea from the Harry Potter Hogwarts Collection, and it blew the lid off of folks.
Perhaps puerh tea is like lapsing soughing tea or marmite: you either love it or hate it. I was introduced to puerh through the hazel berry, which I love. This has a lovely, unadulterated taste of puerh: smoky, earthy, and woodsy. It lacks the astringency of other teas, so it can be enjoyed black (although adding milk or a milk replacement would be enjoyable too). Seems like it would be a perfect tea for a cold, rainy morning!
First time trying Pu-Erh tea. The smell and after taste isn't the most pleasant, but it wasn't bad. Probably just not my cup of tea.
This tea is weird, the other reviewers are spot on. You'll like it or you won't, and it just so happened that I really did. I liked the second steeping better than the first.
I loveeeeeee this tea. It is literally earth in a cup.
Bought this pu-erh because of its name and it did not disappoint. Dark color, strong taste.
Rich, warm, and earthy. I love a cup of this in the afternoon
No astringency, unique taste, cool name. I've never had a pu-erh before but I am really glad Itried this one
This is a really unique tea. If you like earthy teas, you should give it a try.
This was the first pu-erh tea I ever tasted. It really does smell like mushrooms and humus in the best way possible. It's funky, and it's not for everybody, but I do love how grounding this pu-erh is. Probably the smoothest tea to ever touch my taste buds.
This was my first time trying any pu-erh tea, so I just bought a sample. I've heard you either hate it or love it...plus the fishy smell? I wasn't sure I'd like it. I steeped it in boiling water for only about a minute. It did smell fishy, so I wasn't hopeful...but I added stevia and milk, and it was so good!!! I might have found my new favorite tea. I didn't smell the fishy smell when drinking it. I can understand why people go crazy for this tea!
This is my go to morning tea. Pu ehrs are incredibly tolerant of oversteeping. I've accidentally let this go for 20 min or more and it only gets stronger, without bitterness or astringency. If you need something that can sit if you get called away, this is your tea.
Mixed views. My wife loved and would give it 10 stars, didn't work as well for me. I found it a bit 'funky' tasting and very earthy.
I’ve never had pu erh Dante before, and I was a little nervous. I’ve been told it tastes like rotten mushrooms and manure cooked in stinky fish sauce. But because of the health benefits I decided to give it a try, and to be honest it tastes quite good. Now I’m not an expert in this type of tea, since this is the first I’ve had. But if this one is extra mild, or it tastes like other pu erh’s, it doesn’t matter cause I actually like this.
I love pu'erh teas and this is one of the best I have had. I got the tea really fast and had everything I loved about a pu'erh
Could be a bit smokier. I combined it with some unflavored pu erh and got just what I wanted
This is a nice Pu-Erh but I prefer the Chorange one better. There is little hint of chocolate and this is very dark, musky, and earthy. If you are a coffee addict this is a good tea for you for it is bold and strong. Cream is needed for me to truly enjoy it. I also enjoy adding a few pieces of cinnamon to it.
It was ok. I'd never tried puerh tea before, and sadly, I'm not really a fan.
It smells kind of like a hayride, and tastes like hay and dried autumnal leaves...but in a very positive way. It smells like jumping into leaf piles, and is very good for multiple steepings. I like the way it doesn t get astringent, but it s one of those things that one has to be in the mood for. And hay and leaves is a very specific mood.
So, I only call this bad because after trying a sample bag I have concluded that there are some earthy flavors I do not like, such as mushrooms and musk and that which I call “dirt”. Earthy flavors which I do like are malty and peatish. Maybe it’s genetics. In no way do I wish to denigrate it, however, because a more mature palate than mine may appreciate this tea which I understand is an ancient.
A little too musky for me. I tried to liven it up with the Rock Sugar but it was just not for me.
My favorite tea, and my replacement for what Teavana once sold as Yunnan Gold Pu-Erh. It's dark, earthy, and thick. The odor is musky and rich, not at all mildewy or fishy like I've found in some other vendors' blends. Others I share it with tell me it looks like coffee and reminds them of scotch. You either love it fanatically or hate it, so if you're curious, sample first.
I consider myself a novice tea drinker but I am quickly growing more and more interested in exploring new and different teas. So far this is by far my favorite tea I have ever had. It is very earthy and does have some fishy notes but in all the best ways. I expected the strange earth and fish notes, however, I was surprised at how soft and smooth it was at the same time. Drank it straight up and it was perfect.
I drink this every day at work not only because it wakes me up, but because I can keep it steeping forever without worrying about it becoming undrinkable. Really lovely tea for the early morning creative person who s too tired to remember to stop steeping their tea.
An excellent morning sipper. I usually add a spoonful of leaves in my infuser, plop that into my travel mug, fill it with hot water, and then I’m good for the morning. This tea is especially great if you hav a busy morning and don’t have time to remove your infuser. Great for multiple steepings.
A little of an acquired taste - it grew on me but I couldn't drink it every day. Strangely it reminded me of my grandparents house when I was a kid.
Didnt get through the sampe of this, but that has more to do with ny specific tastes then the quality of the tea. Wonderful if you like pu-erh!
This tea doesn't taste bad exactly, it just doesn't taste like much.
Interesting flavors. It's a bit earthier tasting, but I like it.
This smelled like hay inside of a horse stable, complete with the scent of horses. It tasted the same way, with a bit of radish-like burn with a vaguely mushroom-y aftertaste. It had a smooth texture to it that I recognize as being what you expect out of a quality tea, so some people may like this flavor profile. Speaking for myself with my 5 different types of honey that I pair with green teas, maple syrup, sugar cubes, heavy cream, and habit of pouring chai rooibos over vanilla ice cream, this tea was too savory for me.
A beautiful and rich black tea also good hot or cold
Dante is my every day tea -- I love its earthy-ness and the fact that it never goes bitter. It's smooth and satisfying any time of day. Also great iced!
Lovely, am on my third steeping of my first cupful, wonderful, just what a good cup of black tea should be like. Will order again.
I bought this for my husband, whose favorite utility tea is the dirt-cheap Prince of Peace puerh, to have as a special treat. He loves it!
I love the earthiness of pu-erh, and this one delves deep into that flavor profile. Excellent.
Love this one. Very rich... reminds me of a good dark beer.
Has a slight fishy smell and taste; however that is not a bad thing, but it can be off putting. It is especially good cold, as the taste is much lighter and more tolerable.
This is excellent tea, high-octane. It smells foul, people here have described in delightful ways. But it tastes wonderful to me, a person who appreciates the 'old cigarettes' flavor of Gunpowder Green. It is rich, molasses-like. I have also bought in bulk from local market but the Adagio sample i received was much better. I do temper the market tea w almond milk, but drink the Adagio brew w no milk, no sweetener. I make it strong, more than a teaspoon, brewed 5 minutes. Transporting for whole day tho w/o 'jump' of kick-start. Unusual.
Earthy, almost like drinking mushrooms and dirt but well-rounded
I really enjoyed this tea! I like my teas strong and this one does it! I added cream and sugar, it was amazing! It didn t get bitter when I let it steep too long. The only downfall was the second steeping wasn t very good. Still worth buying!
