Pu-Erh Dante Customer Reviews

A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

Nice mellow Pu-Erh. This tea starts many of my mornings.

★★★★☆

Earthy and full-bodied; exactly what I expected from this pu-erh.

★★★★★

These days I really enjoy this tea. Very smooth, no astringency, very forgiving brewwise, and satisfying.

Earthy and unique. Not an every day tea, but definitely an interesting one that I will go back to.

★★★★★

Love this tea, but bring water to a full boil. If you use the lame stuff that comes out of a standing cooler, it will taste like fish. Heat it properly and it's rich and delicious; unlike any other tea, really. Treat yourself.

★★★★★

A light pu_erh. Fragrant mushrooms? Rich. No bitternes.

This is a wonderful tea. I have tried pu erh over the years on different sites, and at different local stores. Yet I have never found a pu erh as flavourful, or fulfilling, as I have found on the Adagio.

I discoved pu ehr tea a couple of years ago when a Chinese friend brought chunks of it back from Hong Kong for me. I called it barnyard tea because the chunks looked (and smelled) like something you would find in a corral. I loved it! The label was in Chinese so I didn't know what kind it was. Recently, another friend received a black tea sampler from Adagio. Pu ehr dante was one of the samples and she hated it. She offered it to me and I was never so thrilled to find out what barnyard tea really is! Irish Breakfast has pretty much been my standard tea for 25 years but I haven't brewed any since I discovered pu ehr. It's dark and strong and never bitter...it's great over ice as well. I use the glass teapot I purchased from Adagio and only one heaping teaspoon of Pu Erh to make a nice strong pot. Give it a try!

Dry, the leaves smell of a combination of alfalfa and sugary root beer - I kid you not. Very sweet! This tea steeps into perhaps the darkest brew I've seen yet - a deep reddish black. It is smooth, without a trace of astringency or bitterness but rather with a touch of natural sweetness. The flavor is difficult for me to describe. It's very mellow, for one. Others have described it as earthy but I get...horses. That may sound odd, but it is of a loft full of fresh summer hay and the sweet breath of my mare after she's grazed in alfalfa. If you've lived on a farm or visited one, you'll get what I mean. There's also the subtle flavor of sassafras. Delicious!

Love this tea! Classic and perfect Pu-erh flavor. If you like Pu-erh tea, you cannot go wrong with Adagio's Dante. An earthy, woodsey tea reminiscent of a moist redwood forrest. Softly textured, rich flavored, and full bodied - absolutely perfect Pu-erh! Might be my favorite tea!

I got a version of pu erh from Rishi for the holidays and I prefer all of your pu erh selections hands down to any from Rishi. It's good to check out other teas from time to time to confirm how much better yours is :) Thanks!

★★★☆☆

Good woody tea. Brew Western with 2 teaspoons per cup for 3-4 minutes; save the leaves for a second brew.

Tasty and rich. I love how I can steep this again and again!

★★☆☆☆

Never had a pu-erh and gave this a shot. I am sure this is fine if you do enjoy pu-erh, but I can't say this is for me. It's got a very savory, musky flavor that I just don't care for. Couldn't finish a cup, but I gave it to a friend who's been enjoying it

★★★★★

Such an amazing tea! It s different... but then all pu-erhs are. But it s rich, smooth, handles over steeping, and has the most beautiful liquor. Also, it surprisingly goes well with a bit of sweetener.

delicate, subtle, delicious. Great addition to my tea drinking rotation. Continue to love this smooth pu erh, very affordable. Reorder it regularly

★★★★★

Excellent Pu-erh tea. Very strong, earthy flavor. Among my favorite teas, though eclipsed by the Pu Erh Hazelberry I think.

A mild puerh that lends itself nicely to grandpa brewing on a low maintenance day

I last had pu-erh tea when my father brought some back from China for me. As I had no idea what I was drinking then, I was pleasantly surprised when the sample I got of this was the same kind of tea my dad had brought for me. This tea does have an odd smell for one who is used to black teas, but it tastes full and almost earthy. I personally didn't think I left it to steep long enough the first time, and prefer to steep it an extra minute or so over the recommended time. Don’t let it get too far over though! It gets an odd aftertaste if you do overbrew too much.

★★★☆☆

I know that Pu-erh is supposed to be the 'connoisseur's tea,' but like fine wines, cheeses, and other fermented/aged products, it just doesn't appeal to me. I don't have a taste for this sort of thing, but I'm glad to have tried it anyway. The thing I liked most about this tea was the reddish/orange-ish color it took on after brewing.

This was my first time trying fermented teas. I really like it. It smoothed out the astringency that I don't appreciate from black teas. I'd definitely buy again.

★★★★★

My first try I felt the mushroom flavor was too overwhelming, but the more I drank the more I fell in love with this tea. There is a definite tea flavor beneath the earthy aged Pu-Erh spunk. I love this tea!

I enjoyed the taste however, i think next time ill buy the pearls since it seems like you can only re-steep once and with the pearls you can re-steep manny times.

Nice and smooth tea that gives multiple infusions.

I enjoyed this Pu-Erh but not as much as the Poe version of Pu-Erh. One the plus side it doesn't require 2 steepings. But its taste and complexity are just not as satisfying to me as the Poe. Nonetheless, I certainly enjoy it.

I mean the reviews this are spot on. This is first time I have tried a puerh tea. It smells like hay and fresh caught fish. The taste is smooth and earthy with a fish flavor. It’s not bad per se, it’s just weird. I think someone wrote that it’s like peaty Islay scotch and that is a good analogy. It tastes like earth and terroir, so if you like that you’ll like this. I can’t say it’s my thing though.

Good earthy taste. I also like to resteep and it still has a great taste

I find this pretty inferior to thhe puer pearls. It has a similar flavor profile (earthy, somewhat smoky) but its flavors are much weaker.

Not my favorite Pu-Erh but I wasn’t disappointed it being my first I suggest pre rinsing.

★★★★★

I believe this is the base for the hazelberry and chorange pu-erh, which we really love. It has that mushroom taste people describe, and we really like it. Really nice for multiple brews. I plan to order more to have around if I want plain pu-erh, although hazelberry pu-erh is still my go-to.

This is one I was saving for a special occasion. As it turned out, the death of my grandma was that special occasion. This is like a flavor explosion in my mouth. Rich, earthy flavor, very complex. I was able to get four additional resteeps out of this before the flavor drop off was noticeable. It's pretty good I'm guessing as a starter PuErh. I liked it and can't wait to try others like it. Note: I did not listen to Adagios steeping instructions. First, I rinsed the leaves. Then I steeped for 30 seconds with boiling water. Each resteep added ten seconds. Just thought I should mention that.

Update: On further sessions I was unable to fully replicate that initial experience. I started experiencing fishy notes and a terrible smell. Gonna have to knock this one down a few notches because of that. That initial reaction makes me think I'm really gonna get into Pu-erh. But just not THIS pu-erh.

This is a quality tea. Like others I was put off by the strong earthy (fishy) aroma at first but came to enjoy the tea especially when I add a splash of milk and a small amount of honey as suggested by a regular pu-erh drinker. Very enjoyable.

Not as 'in your face' as Pu-erh Poe, and doesn't seem to take multiple infusion as well either, but still really nice. As well, it is nice any time of the day.

★★★★★

Believe it or not, I purchased this for a friend after we read THE TEA GIRL OF HUMMINGBIRD LANE by Lisa See. She became enamored with the idea of Pu-Erh tea and wanted to try it. Not being a tea person (and being 90 years old), I opted for the tea bags. She loved the taste and smell of this tea so much she's requested it be ordered for family and friends.

★★★★★

Very rich but smooth pu erh tea. I enjoyed how smooth this one was compared to other pu erh teas I've tasted. I would definitely recommend this tea to anyone who likes pu erh teas.

★★☆☆☆

It really wasn't what I was looking for in a tea. It tasted very savory

★★★★★

Taste wonderful a nice change make sure water comes to a boil .

★★★★★

I didn't know what to expect when i first tasted this tea, at first sip i immediately wrote 'keeper' no the package. This tea is bold and strong without being too bitter. I love it.

wonderful everyday morning tea. earthy like the smell of the inside of a well-seasoned clay teapot.

Extremely smooth and doesn't get bitter no matter how long you steep it. Goes well with heavy foods-cuts through and cleanses the palate.
